    My newest tool is a drafting T-square. Saw it at a local store that's closing and thought it would replace the one I made for drawings that I seldom use. 😅 This 24 long and I have used it to mark my cut off location for glued up cutting boards with pieces of various lengths. It also helped me ensure the longer pieces actually went past short pieces at both ends when marking my 2 alignment lines for the glue up.

    The bottom laser is good at ground/floor level, e.g. to level pavers with small targets for the laser to hit, or the sand and stones layers you might be raking around before you lay pavers: high spots are hit by the laser directly. Another application is leveling the feet of a run of shelves across an uneven or sloping floor: you can keep the level across the whole run rather than transferring it from unit to unit.

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork

    Thank you for this review. Regarding 3-D laser levels. I’ve had one for about 10 years and I continue to struggle with getting my vertical lines to actually be square. If you’re not exactly perpendicular to the wall at the point where you want the laser it drifts a few degrees by the angle that you’re off from perpendicular. Would you have any suggestions to make your Vertical lines square when you need them?

    This is the first time I viewed your channel. Good common sense advice.
    Approx 25 years ago give or take a couple years. 3 D or even 2D lazers were fairly new and very expensive. Not to mentioned what a nice Transit Level would cost.
    I learned how uae both a Builders Level and a Transit Level in Trade School. Which by the way is a great way to understand Geometry.
    So any way I needed to layout the foundation of a Off Grade large shed behind my mother's house. It was 16 × 30 2 story shed. I needed to get each pillar of blocks on the same grade. I didn't want to purchase or rent a Transit Level or a Builders Level.
    So my work around came in the form of a 18" standard bubble Level that just happened to have a lazer that was installed on the end. It came with a bracket to attach it to a standard camera Tripod. I have no idea why it really wasn't prompted to be used that way.
    Well being also an avid photographer I owned a number of very good tripods. So I mounted the level to my tripod. Leveled it up 360°, over one corner of the starting pier. Measured down to the top of the pier. And that became my benchmark.
    The rest was pretty easy. I needed a Target Rod. So I took a very Straight 2x2 attached a steal tape measure to one side. From there it was a piece of cake. I could shoot the grade on every pier. Just by letting the lazer shine on the tape blade. Used the basic 6x8x10 method to square it all up.
    The level I bought at Big Lots approx $29, 5 for cheap Tape Measure since it was going to be ruined.
    It worked out perfect, sometimes you have to solve problems with what you can afford.

    The push stick is magnetic, so it can just be stuck to the end of a cast iron table. I clue magnets to my dust collector and TV remotes, so they live at the end of my saw. The underside of the saw has magnets for hanging a dust brush and Bow Push stick. The top of my fence is taken up by the JessEm ClearCut guide, so I can't use that anymore.

    Still laughing...two in the pink, one in the stink!!!😂😂😂 Great video!! On an off topic note, you didn't tell me that the Jet bandsaw didn't come with a blade!!! Where's the best place to buy a 116 inch bandsaw blade because right now all I can do is pretend that I'm making great cuts!!! Blessings!!!

      Haha! Oh man, That video I did on making that push stick was a total bomb back in the day! :). It has been so long, I didn't even realize the saw didn't come with a blade. I bought a few from woodcraft when I got mine I believe. Amazon should have them as well. I really like the Timberwolf blades. Here is a link where you can get them (I don't have any affiliation with them, but this is probably where i would look). - www.woodcraft.com/categories/bandsaw-blades?gclid=Cj0KCQiA5fetBhC9ARIsAP1UMgFs7A1j0yKRYcnih0ty1AauMtV4ej6TNqS2vHnRZRk9LTAZWgkcLXwaApaDEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

    Not sure why, but this turned into a two cups of coffee video. A few observations, First of all I'm not sure if I'm more impressed with the photo of younger you, of the Fender Stack, don't think I've seen one of those before. Missing fingers? Django Reinhardt did pretty well with just three that worked. Get to work on that shop, I'm still waiting for the grand unveiling/tour video. I've got a few more items on my Amazon wish list now..... Thank you and enjoy the weekend.

I also have an EVH 5150 stack too that I bought when I got older and actually had some money. Love htem both. I'm looking forward to doing a tour video as well, juwt want to do a few upgrades first! I agree with the fundamental premise that the one who hoardss more tools wins, however and like any novelty, all those tools cost a lot more than noname tools that can do the same, but somebody has to cater for people that enjoys burning money in such things.

    While the push stick is a nice idea, I like the shoe design, the concept doesn't work. If you have the ability to remember to put it back in it's base you have the ability to keep any push stick nearby. Also the base being mounted to the arm eliminates the option for certain table saw jigs.

    OUCH!!😵😵‍💫 At 4:26....it just kills me to see you take that steel and whack that finished wood like that. After all the talk about using the right hammer head for the right wood...you slam a thin piece of steel into the wood to show how to change the head. Why not use the scrap wood at least...or better yet the concrete floor or piece of steel laid on the workbench!

    Dogg, man, we love hammers, but that first one looks like a maraca. Did you say a ribbed friction fit (as I was typing, you did mention, "for her pleasure")? Good to see I'm not the only deviant here. We use the old fashioned round headed screw in (made in America) rubber mallet. Would I lie to you? We need more young Flynndog! Magswitch, gotta be pricey. Money better spent on a gouge for the lathe. Dogg, man, are you telling us that those Woodpeckers are only art work now, as you leave them hanging on the bench while using those lesser quality tools? I did notice that you used a Woodpeckers rule to connect that angle markings made by the Milescraft square. Yep, you don't want to drop your pecker on the floor. No tool I have am I afraid to drop, but I did knock my Grandfather's carpenter square off the bench one day and it broke the horizontal leg off. I'm still trying to get over that as it was, at least, a hundred years old and I couldn't fix it. Now, how about that lathe?

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork
      @FlynndoggWoodwork  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I love this comment (as I do all your comments). Beleive me, I'm pretty sure we have the same sense of humor. If I hear the word ribbed, my mind automatically goes to "for her pleasure". that magswitch push block is a little pricy for what it is, and you can't turn the magnets off, so I guess they should have just called it mag! Ouch on your grandfather's carpenter square. That happened with my dad's old wooden hammer with me. That hammer was priceless, and I would like to make a new handle for it, as I still have the head for it. Thinking about the lathe this week! We will see. I have I think one more video to record before I hit the lathe. Super excited about it. And yes, I totally think woodpeckers are expensive wall art in many youtuber's backgrounds. I use them when i want dead on accuracy, but I've honestly been reaching for the woodraphic 4'' more these days than anything! Thanks as always for watching meat!

    Basically wastes of money. A couple I make if I need them, cost about zero, because I use scrap. All in all, I either would not have any of them, saving hundres of dollars, or make the one or two from scrap wood, costing me little or nothing.

  • @Bernardgrubb
    @Bernardgrubb Před 2 měsíci

    I have no fear of using any of my tools as I can't bring myself to pay the cost of any woodpeckers tools. I have a single tool from them I bought on sale for about $60 and that's all the money I'm going to donate to them. They are just too expensive for me. That said, I love buying quality tools and don't mind spending money. That said there has to be a reason for the expense and my experience with wp they are excessively expensive and it takes forever to get one of their tools. They boast no middle man and no ocean voyage, then why the hell does it take weeks to come from Ohio? Just not impressed.

    • @FlynndoggWoodwork
      @FlynndoggWoodwork  Před 2 měsíci

      Great great points Bernand. I had to wait 3 months last time I ordered something from them. Came is piss poor packaging too. They are excessivly priced and whoever owns that company must be making a fortune. I'm coming to the realization over the last year as I've been doing a few projects, that the level of accuracy they provide is great however, my accuracy is not that great so cheaper tools do just as well! :)
