- Anicee was born with Brittle Bone Disease and raised in an orphanage. At age seven she found her forever home when adopted by parents who are both diagnosed with the same condition. Now 13, Anicee truly understands the value of family.

I’m glad someone with the same condition adopted her. The parents understand what she’s going through and I can tell that they truly love her. She’s so smart, well behaved, and beautiful.

It’s shocking that a child so young has so much perspective, and depth of character. Such an incredible and impressive little girl, with maturity and understanding that is truly remarkable, with both her age, and her circumstances. She’s going to do amazing things one day, I have no doubt.

I have the same disease, everyone in my school stayed away from me and at Recess no one wanted to play with me so yeah lol
My former boyfriend had the same diagnosis of osteogenesis imperfecta. I didn't manage to see his disability. He was an amazing man, dynamic, sensitive. I loved him and I still love him although he's dead on December 2014, one of the most sad days of my life. He always made me happy. R.I.P

This family is truly amazing! When she was talking about people kneeling over when they meet her hurt her, it made me step back. When I do meet children or people with a disability like Her, I instinctively wanna kneel down so I can speak to them at eye level. For me I felt like I was being respectful because when I speak to someone I want to be able to look in their eyes. It’s a way for me to connect but I never would’ve thought that it could make someone feel bad or small. So it’s amazing that you share these kinds of videos to allow the public to have this kind of knowledge in the future. Thank you SBSK for all that you do and sharing these wonderful stories.
I agree! Really made me open my eyes. I personally have an “invisible” disability & there are many things people say/do with the best intentions, but it’s still hurtful to me. I never stopped to think if I’m also guilty of doing the same things to other disabled people. Wow! Touching
In general, we are taught to come down to their eye level. Perhaps one can also say "is this okay?".

I am very impressed with how eloquent she is, but I'm sad because I think it is because she had to grow up too fast. I wish she had had an opportunity to be a child before she became a part of this family but I am so glad they are giving her a normal life from here.
I kept it together until Grandma joined the interview. I just think this family is so beautiful. I’m biased when it comes to grandparents; having a loving grandparent is such a privilege for a child. I miss mine every day. I found that they add so much context to the relationship with a parent. I’m so glad this beauty got so much healing from her forever family. Thank you all for this reminder to be unceasingly grateful. ❤

When she said "you good" (4.59 min) i was a ball of tears but not condescending tears put tears of pure joy. Every time I watch a SBSK video there is always a point in the video that gets me to my heart. Kudos to the parents also because in this particular video, they have been through this themselves.
When they asked how many bones she has broken in her life, I beyond did not expect 150-200 to be the answer. That is incredible that she is so resilient. I’ve worked in healthcare for 7 years and it’s honestly rare to meet such a determined young individual despite such an intimidating diagnosis. But she is brilliant and has an amazing support system. What a bright young lady. She will do great things.

I cried tears of hope. The world today (almost April 2022) doesn’t give me much hope. But this caring, articulate teenager does. This brilliant young woman and her mother .. and dad .. and grandmother… all give me hope for the human race.

Show them this video; it might touch something even if they don't say it. In quiet, pleasant moments, teach them to be grateful for the way you care for them and tell/show them stories of kids that are abused/underprivileged so they have a reference point. Best wishes!

I like that Chris asked, "What are some ways that people treat you different that they might not even know that they're doing?" Anesi said it bothers her when people kneel down to see eye to eye with her. In other interviews, some have said they prefer someone to match their eye level . If I kneel because someone isn't at my eye level because of disability, I think I will ask them if it's ok. I appreciate that Anesi shared this with us. Thank you Anesi!

When she started to cry saying she’s not grateful some days and she should be.. that broke my heart. She is so damn adorable my lord. OMGosh!! I love this family! So much love and respect for each other, and so articulate about their lives and their challenges. I so love how the Dad tells Anicee, basically, you're just who you are and you can't change that (as we all are), we just all need to try and be the best that we can be. Us "walkers" tend to have so many distractions at our fingertips, that we often fall well behind others in the "being the best you can be" area. However, what good is life if you can't continue to grow in grace and knowledge? It's a process of all of us. Just an amazingly beautiful family, sooo lucky!!
I broke my ankle when i was younger and that hurt like heck. To see her talk about how grateful she is, how she crackdd a rib and didnt cry, has broken 150-200 bones and says it with a smile... she is one tough cookie. I hope she has a great rest of her life.

There are many of us who didn't have that growing up, but this young lady's got great parents teaching her and supporting her and she does the same for them.
