I'm shocked no one mentioned Police Story. That was my introduction to Jackie Chan
I clicked on this to see if they mentioned it - honestly the fact it’s not is pretty discrediting to this entire video
Police Story (the whole series) is amazing but I was hoping to see City Hunter on the list
He did. @7:46
"Who am i" was a solid picture in my opinion when it would pop up randomly back in the earlier 00s flipping channels 😂 the stunts with all the vehicles the locations and like the title tells us we in for a ride and it delivered really well
I remember watching that one repeatedly
"WHO AM IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII?!" 🔥
It has some of the best fight scenes and stunts, but the plot and pacing doesn't hit like the others listed. Super fun movie tho.
Is that when the giant dump truck drives through the house?
Great episode! Just throwing it out there: if you want to watch Drunken Master 2, there is a Warner Archive Collection Blu Ray available which includes the original cut of the movie and audio in Mandarin, Cantonese and English. The subtitles aren't the most ideal (either dubtitles or a more literal translation that can be a bit clunky at times), but probably the best we can legally get in North America anytime soon.
Police Story is what made me a Jackie Chan fan. Insane stunts and the mall fight finale. So good!
I've seen Legend Of Drunken Master at least a dozen times and I agree it's one of his very best. Probably my all time favorite. I even saw it in the theater when it came out in the 90s. I don't think I've ever seen the epilogue you're describing. Lucky me?
The legend of the drunken master was so much fun. I loved the dynamic between his character and the stepmother.
Theres definitely more than a VHS of Miracles. I have it on glorious BluRay.
Danielle, I hope you know that Warner archive released a beautiful Blu-ray of Drunken Master 2. The subtitles are a little less than perfect and you don't get the original English dub but it's still something wonderful to own
Meals on Wheels. Jackie vs Billy is one of the top fight scenes in martial arts cinema
Wheels on Meals
My favorite JCh movie is Operation Condor: Armour of God II. Aka "The one with fighting in areofynamic tunel". Its so Hilarious, and last fightihing scene is amazing.
If you like Drunken Master 1, check out Fearless Hyena and Young Master. The exact same formula of Drunken Master but perfected. Fearless Hyena is also Jackie’s directorial debut.
Agreed, I think Fearless Hyena is the best of his classic, straight-ahead kung fu films, before he started incorporating big stunts and wire work.
He has so many great films, it's hard to pick one. For comedy my pick is Meals On Wheels, and for straight Kung Fu. I like Dragon Fist.
I just want to say, as a huge Jackie Chan movie fan and kung fu movie fan in general, you all picked right.
Drunken Master II (often titled "Legend of the Drunken Master for release here in America) is not only I think the pinnacle of a Jackie Chan action movie, but also just hands down one of if not the best action movies of all time. Not only are the fight scenes jaw-dropping perfection, but even the plot that happens between the fight scenes is fun, funny, and provides the proper emotional through-line to make the fight scenes they string together more emotionally impactful. The stepmother is such a great character, she really brings a lot of life to what could be an otherwise cookie-cutter story.
I am very biased but great video, excellent work.
Miracles is a great film from start to finish Anita Mui and Bill Tung are excellent in that film. The cinematography is impeccable.
Jackie has said it's his best directed film he has ever done.
It's his own version of a old Hollywood film.
It was filmed on the old Shaw Brothers film set.
Drunken Master 2 was Jackie Chan's answer to all the wire fu period martial arts film that was coming out in Hong Kong during the 1990s.
Drunken Master the first one was directed by Yuen Woo Ping who did the fight scenes for The Matrix Films and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
I proudly can share, I have watch rumble in the Bronx 10 hr straight. And I'm not tire of it.
The timing of this is uncanny! After forgetting Jacking Chan even existed for a good 15 years, I found a car video about Mitsubishi and how Jackie had been their brand ambassador back in the day - which led me to watch Thunderbolt just yesterday. I was such a huge fan of his as a kid! With "Who am I" and "Rumble in the Bronx". So many amazing hits!
I recently rewatched Rumble in the Bronx for the first time in a while. That movie is bananas. The last 15-20 minutes is so cartoony and a huge tonal shift. While the movie is kinda goofy throughout, it's also plenty dark. Then the whole thing turns Benny Hill, when all of a sudden Jackie battles, then commandeers, a hovercraft.
Damn. Now I gotta watch a Jackie Chan movie at work later
I love how Jackie Chan does his fighting sequences. Bruce Lee was a legend but Jackie Chan made martial arts relatable. He does get kicked in the face. He does get knocked on his butt sometimes. The outtakes were especially good because it shows he’s not Superman. He’s every bit as fallible as his audience
Drunken Master 2 has a recut that was done BY Jackie Chan that not only cuts out that... final moment, but he also redubs himself. The dvd goes for like $100+ on ebay.
That is the American version called Legend of Drunken Master
That's the version I have on DVD. Who knew it was so rare?
@@SgtPowell the DVD is not quite that much money but the Blu-ray is
Officer Lee from the video game Tekken was probably my first introduction to drunken master.
This was great, and I need to watch miracles.
How did anyone did not bring up City Hunter? Jackie Chan cosplaying Chun Li beats anything he's ever done.
I came to the comments to see who else knows City Hunter
Miracles and Drunken Master 2 were the superior options here.
There are better versions of The Drunken Master formula and Rumble in the Bronx falls apart in the second half.
Drunken Master II is available to rent/buy on CZcams in original audio with subs. That’s the only place I’ve been able to find it.
Just putting it out there Wheels on Meals has some of the best fight scenes Jackie Chan has made.
He and Benny "The Jet" Urquidez created THE greatest fight scene ever put on film!
And it has Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao too.
Obviously his greatest hit is the animated show. That was fantastic!
Magic must defeat magic!
awww he didnt do his own stunts in that one! ;)
Yeah! Another staff picks!
The crazy thing about Jackie Chan isn't just that he's ridiculously multi talented (he can sing, dance, act fight, he's a polyglot, and I believe a writer) but he is THE best example of willing to sacrifice for his craft! Go ahead and name a movie he didn't at least risk serious injury to make.
cannonball run 2
@@Sheepy007 there was an orangutan in that movie... that's kinda dangerous?
Genuinely surprised none of the Police Story movies got picked
Apparently the american release of Rumble in the Bronx is vastly different than its original release so id love there to be an NTSC release that restores it for english audiences.
Police Story 3 - Jackie and Michelle Yeoh trying to outdo each other in stunts
Who am I? Was great!
I like the Shanghai movies.
Howdy Partner!
love some Jackie Chan
His best movie? "Legend of the drunken master" not to be mistaken for "Drunken Master" which is easy to do since he stars in both films.
There could have been so many Jackie Chan movies you guys could have chosen
Project A - Jackie with Samo & Yuen Biao in a period pirate movie with the clock tower stunt that homages Harold Lloyd.
Rumble In The Bronx has one of the gnarliest ways to get murdered in almost any film of any genre
Rumble in the Bronx
Never saw Jackie Chan until this film.
I think Snake in the Eagles Shadow is up there with Drunken Master. These two are best Jackie Chan films imo
What? No mention of policy story, project A, armour of the gods? Normies.
Project A is amazing
Ikr? Any of the movies with jackie chan, samo hung, yuen biao together is amazing
Lol, you're not wrong.
Drunken Master 2 for sure.
It’s just legendary! No other words does it justice.
I’m gonna say the rush hour movies
12:53
Are you sure it isn't named after the horse in History of the World Part I?
My Problem is choosing between Drunken Master and Legend of the Drunken Master.
Makes me sad that I may never be able to see some movies. I am such a historian at heart. Preserve theae treasures. Also I am physically unable to enjoy any dubbed live action. Animated, sure if it is well done. Also I love Jackie Chan, but I haven't seen any of these movies 😢.
You should get yourself a region free Blu-ray player and the subtitled world of Jackie Chan is available to you all day and all night
If armour of God isn't on here, I'm gonna be pissed
Legend of the drunken master both versions
was that winnie the pooh introing jacky chan on the preview?
Police story?
Miracles has a region b blu ray
Wait why do they say "drunken master" isn't a thing?
Shanghai Noon. Nuf said.
Not a foreign production and recycles some of his earlier gags
All the movies he does his own stunts, those are the greatest hits
Not all the stunts
I grew up with Who Am I and Drunken Master 1. I still dislike the 2nd it just doesn’t compare to the 1st one for me.
Jackie Chan is so prolific even having watched his films for over four decades, I haven't come close to seeing them all.
I would STRONGLY recommend watching The Son of the Incredibly Strange Film Show episode on Jackie Chan from 1989, where he is interviewed extensively: czcams.com/video/U6m3kNFjdTs/video.html
You guys forgot about the actual best Jackie Chan movie, it's called Fearless Hyena. A lot of the scenes of the original Kung Fu Panda came from that movie. You guys suck for not mentioning it.
Missing after hours, k.y.a.b.d.n?..
“Jackie Chan’s First Strike” is not his best film, but it’s the first one that I bought. Such terrible dubs of Chinese, Russian, and Australian accents. Jackie wearing that ridiculous seal hat, fighting with a ladder? And home girl in the yellow bikini swimming with the sharks? So much fun, lol.
By disallowing the Rush Hour films you can avoid the sticky business of the third film being so full of sex creeps
Police story!!! He destroyed his owned stuntman company doing this one film!!!
The Foreigner is the best damn movie..like really
drunken master....obviously
Eh. Chan has been pretty tainted to me ever since finding out he unapologetically supports China.
I mean, sure, he probably doesn't want to enrage Winnie The Pooh, but still.
if you can't separate art from the artist there is going to be precious little art you can consume.
@@G0rgar People keep telling me this, yet I'm perfectly happy not enriching artists I disagree with.
There is no ethical consumption under Capitalism, sure, but I'm fine choosing to not enrich companies and practices I disagree with to the best of my ability.
I think as far as Jackie Chan scandals go, him apparently alienating his daughter because she is somewhere on the LGBTQQ+ spectrum is far worse than "unapologetically [sic] supports China". China has over a billion people in it, but his daughter being homeless with a father who is apparently too judgemental seems far worse.
