This is not your typical multifilament string. Rather than specializing only in comfort and power, this multifilament has uncommonly high levels of control and durability, making it suitable to bigger hitters. On the court, our team found it to play firmer and crisper than a typical multifilament, but it still managed to deliver plenty of comfort with impressive pocketing. In addition to being a solid option for the multifilament player who wants a tad more control, spin-potential and durability, Triax will also tempt the poly player who wants a more tendon-friendly option.
*This content was filmed on a private court following all social distancing guidelines provided to us by the USTA and local government. Precautions were made to stand at least 6+ feet apart at all times, sanitize equipment before and after use, each playtester using their own overgrip/tennis balls and washing hands before and after play.

Holy😱 Chris play with lefty serve and two handed forehand and backhand and as well drop shot as well. Well done mate👍👍👍
Yea that is WILD
Can't say I've used a multi for at least 12+ years. Full bed of poly here. However, I've just ordered a reel of multi (not this), to test for hybrids and stringing up some friends & waiting on delivery.
Impressed with the leftie serve Chris..my leftie groundies look much like yours, though I'd still take off my right hand, whereas you're still largely playing right handed both sides.
Anyway......hope the injury passes quickly Chris.
Cheers.🎾🎾🎾
I like this string! 👍🏻 I usually use polyester and I’ll likely continue to use poly but I tried this and really liked it. I’ll keep this in mind if poly stops working for me. I don’t plan on blending this though. I strung the Triax @ 55 lbs
I tried Triax in a Wilson Burn 99 FST 18 x 19 at 51lbs on a lockout machine. It's good. Compared to NXT 17, X1-Biphase, Head Velocity MLT 16 and Isospeed Cream 17, Triax falls in the middle with NXT being the most compatible with my swing and racquet. Initially I was a huge Triax fan but after more time, and switching between two in one session, NXT seems to play better for me. Triax seems to be more durable than NXT and feels firmer, but still comfortable. I play mostly doubles and the extra power on serve and volleys with NXT is great. Heavier groundstrokes is where Triax bests NXT, I can take a bigger swing at the ball from the baseline with Triax and it will have more arc, shape and drop inside with more margin. Every string is a compromise... Thanks Tennis Warehouse for all the reviews and info, Cheers!
Michelle is looking extremely fit and happy as always. Love her enthusiasm along with Brittany's! Chris Edwards is just smooth even through a thumb injury. Even in the new world order of Amazon and Google Shopping, nobody beats TW for the overall tennis experience. Thanks for the Happy Hour specials, reviews and free playtests to TW TT members. Truly appreciate TW and the entire staff!
Thanks for the kind words Greg! Appreciate you for being a customer and interacting with us on all of our platforms! Happy hitting!
TW Staff
Get better soon Chris!!
Thank you! Working on it!! Cheers, Chris, TW
Chris is ambidextrous!
You guys should test volkl v square 17 and 18 gauge, it’s not on the string comparison tool site, very curious to see if it has more spin potential than the Weiss ultra canon 👍
Great video as usual. I'm currently obsessed with the technifibre xone biphase but it starts fraying a lot. Does this string have better durability than the xone?
A good surprise; at first I was afraid it would be dead, but with normal acceleration it is really paying off. For amateur level, perfect, and do not have to put back in place strings all the time
Hi TW, thanks for the review! How this new Triax compare to the last new HDMX please? I'm a Duramix long time user and tried the new HDMX few months ago and found it firmer with more control and spin, crisper also. Confort was ok, less than Duramix but the big knock for me was durability with HDMX. Duramix 16 and 15L gauges last me about 12 hours but HDMX 16g 10 hours max. So I was a bit disappointed for the price range cause it's quite a good string otherwise. That's why I'm curious about how this Triax compares to those strings. Thanks
Hi tennis warehouse, I've seen new prince camo backpack and it looks really nice, is it scheduled for a video review? I would like to see inside of it closely! 👍
@Richard Song,
You should be able to see the videos on the product pages of our website, but also just made the videos live, so check them out!
Michelle, TW
Hi TW, How can you compare this to Technifibre mutifeel?I like TMF in terms of control, spin , feel, minimal string movement..But durability last only for 6 hours, and it started to fray after 30 minutes from the first hit and it frays a lot....
Just tried this string for 2 hours today in my Head Prestige MP 18x20 at 57 lbs both mains and crosses. I tried the 1.33mm in a full bed.
From a stringing point of view very easy to string, little rubbery like X1 bi-phase but easy to weave etc. Doesn’t notch quickly and doesn’t ball up.
Plays very very nice, touch, feel and comfort are amazing, at 57lbs I’m talking the comfort was insanely good, but its lively, I feel you’d need to add 2-3lbs to reign in some of that extra power it provides cause it can fly off the string bed but after 5-10 mins I was getting the length dialled in nice, Spin is surprisingly good and control is pretty sweet too.
This string is amazing, but very expensive. Just looking to see how durable it is and how tension holds
How does this compare to X-One Biphase?
August Blood. I still think X1 Biphase is the king of Multifiliments for power, touch, feel and comfort. If I had the choice I’d go X1 every time,
The Triax was nice though, I would certainly use it again if I was given a set, I just would just rather spend my money on other strings. Hope this helps
@@SRKarting I have the same racket with X1 biphase, so thanks for testing with Triax. I tried X1 in a full bed which was amazing but lost tension/playability quite quickly and didn't really give me much spin. So I hybrided it with Vokl cyclone in the mains. I think this is a good setup for spin. I might try Triax in the crosses next with cyclone.
August Blood yeah I use the X1 as a hybrid but in the mains. I have one racket with gut and the other with X1 for the bad weather.
Happy tennis 👍👍
I want to see a duel between Tecnifibre TRIAX vs. Yonex Rexis Speed.
Mainly because they are both trying to do the same thing, the only difference being that Tecnifibre has microfibers of Poly, while Yonex is using a full core of Poly.
Hello TW and congrats for the great review again! I was wondering how Triax would compare to Luxilon 4g in terms of spin potential and tension maintenance. I also assume that Triax would be less stiff and offer more power.
Thanks in advance!
Correct, less stiff, more comfort, and more power. Triax is on the firm side for multifilaments, but is still a multifilament. 4G is stiff for a poly, and essentially the stiffest string you can find, aside from Kevlar. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Is there a significant difference between the two in terms of tension maintenance and spin potential? Triax is indeed a multi but 4G is rounded and holds tension very well for a poly, so I’m wondering how they compare. Thanks for responding so quickly to the previous question!!!
Thank you the babolat origin is gone, now I have Triax
Hey, Chris - BRAVO! Do you have an elbow injury. I have a chronic right elbow injury and have been considering changing to playing 2-handed on both sides. At my age, I think I am too old for the corrective surgery. I am not sure that I can serve left-handed though like you're doing. Well done!
Thank you! Right now I'm dealing with an injury to the thumb of my right hand which prevents me from gripping the racquet with any strength. It's taking forever to heal which is frustrating. Playing left isn't really that tough when you get into it. You'll still move, think, anticipate and compete like a tennis player and it won't take you long to realize how effective you can be even if the strokes start out a bit ugly :) Cheers, Chris, TW.
I normally play with a full bed of Technifibre X-one biphase strung at 56, was thinking of adding a co-poly in the crosses. Any recommendations on a string and tension? I’ve considered Luxilon alu power. Or should I try the Triax, and at what tension? Thanks! You guys rock!
I would try a poly like ALU Power, or Tecnifibre Pro Red Code in the crosses and see how you like it, and we usually recommend dropping tension on the poly about 2 to 3 pounds. Triax is a good string, and plays like a more control oriented multi, so maybe worth experimenting with it in a full bed or hybrid. Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse thank you!
Chris hope your right thumb is okay... must be hitting too many big serves! Hehe
Hi tennis warehouse. How does this compare to the technifibre x-one biphase? Which feels easier on the arm and which one has a better pop?
X-one biphase will be softer, and easier on the arm. This Triax has pretty decent comfort but not like biphase, and is designed to be a firmer multifilament, and offer more control than your typical multi. Troy, TW
Gee Chris. Do you have tennis elbow brought on by co-poly? And look at that lefty serve. Who does that? Amazing.
Thanks for the kind words. I injured my right thumb a month ago and I still have very little grip strength in that hand. On the positive side I'm still playing and the serve and two-handed shots are getting better every day so I can't really complain. Cheers, Chris, TW.
Can you compare it with Isospeed Control?Spin?Control?Thank you very much!
This one is slightly more firm, and just a bit more control. Spin will be fairly comparable, but maybe a bit better with this one. Troy, TW
My jr tournament player son is currently using Volkl Cyclone in Babolat Pure Aero (16x19). What do you recommend:
1.) Luxilon ALU Power 16(1.30) main, Technifibre Triax 16(1.33) cross
2.) Luxilon ALU Power 16L(1.25) main, Technifibre Triax 17(1.28) cross
3.) Luxilon ALU Power 16L(1.25) main, Technifibre Triax 16(1.33) cross
or any recommendation to use as cross for ALU Power main?
Thank you
Because of the wide spacing of the 16x19 string pattern on that racquet, and the increase in power compared to a full bed of poly, we would likely recommend going with the 16/16 combination, to help with control, and durability. Troy, TW
Great review. I am interested in this string as I currently play a full bed of 4G Soft, but I am looking for a bit more comfort and feel. So I am thinking about a hybrid with 4G Soft in the mains and Triax in the crosses. I am a string breaker, but hopefully a round poly like 4G will not fray the crosses, plus I've never broken a cross (it's systematically one of the 4 central mains, around the 5th / 6th cross). TW / Troy, do you think Triax has a good potential as a cross with a round poly? How would you go about the tension? In a full bed of poly, I put 50lbs in the mains and 48 in the crosses. Should I bump the crosses to 52lbs if using Triax there? Many thanks.
Yeah I think Triax is definitely worth a try in a hybrid. I would probably go up in tension a bit overall, so yeah 52 with the Triax would likely play well, and maybe even consider a pound increase with the 4G Soft too. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thanks Troy. Appreciate you taking the time to respond, as always.
@@tenniswarehouse Got to try it for 10mn the other day with 4G Soft Main @50 and Triax @52lbs, and it felt like hitting a ball with a pillow compared to full be 4G Soft. A lot more pop, too, that I will need to dial in a bit. I'll see how I go with this, and maybe bump the set-up by 1lb to 51/53.
@@tenniswarehouse Just following up to share my impressions: wonderful string in a cross to soften a full bed of poly. It was good in my Angell TC95 16x19 with 4G Soft in the mains. Durability was around 6-7 hours before a Triax cross broke, which is what I generally get of a full bed of 4G Soft (in which case a main breaks first). But where it really shines is as cross with Ice Code 17 in the mains of my TC95 18X20. It soften the stringbed and provides decent pop on the ball, and lasts > 10 hours, while Ice Code provides the control and the spin. I am very impressed how the racquet plays with that set-up.
What are some strings that have a maximum amount of SnapBack?
Polys do it the best, such as Babolat RPM Blast, or Tecnifibre Black Code 4S are great choices. Troy, TW
How much spin would you sacrifice approximately if you switched from a copoly like rpm blast to something like this?
Is RPM Blast a traditional poly or is it a copoly?
It is a co-poly. There aren't many traditional or full polyester monofilaments left on the market. Troy, TW
How would a hybrid of Solinco Hyper G 16L (main, 55 lbs) and Triax 17 (cross, 53 lbs) feel? Is it durable as well? Thinking of this being my new set-up
We haven't tried that exact set-up, but should play well. It should offer some added comfort and feel compared to a full bed of Hyper-G. It would be hard to guess the durability of the hybrid since we haven't tried that set-up, but the Triax is more durable than most multi's. Troy, TW
Plays well but the hyper g saws thru the triax quickly - especially if you hit a Lot of topspin. If you need something a bit softer than hyper g I’d recommend a full bed of hyper g soft or gamma jet
Hi Michelle! Are you still using the Tech Ice code or the triax?
@Kyzer Soze,
I've been testing a bunch of new string lately so haven't had either of those in my racquet in a while! But a good reminder to revisit both! I think I'm out of Ice Code, need to get some more!! :)
Michelle, TW
@@tenniswarehouse what about ISOspeed control strings, any experience with those?
Do the Triax require pre-stretching like other multis?
We didn't necessarily find that it needed a pre-stretch. If you are accustomed to pre-stretching then maybe give it a try, however we typically don't pre-stretch multis. This one plays more firm and control oriented than most multis, as Tecnifibre was trying to create something that plays somewhat in between a traditional multi, and a poly mono. Troy, TW
which other strings would compare to this or be better . closer to copoly and last longer?
This is likely the closest without being a poly mono. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse how about HDMX or Origin
@@mteca5093 This one plays a bit firmer, and more control oriented, so a bit closer to poly. Troy, TW
How does this compare to the babolat addixion?
This one feels a bit more firm, and a bit more control oriented. Addixion is a bit more soft, and slightly more comfortable. Troy, TW
how does it compare to HDMX and ORIGIN?
A little stiffer, and more control than HDMX. Origin feels quite softer, and has similar spin potential. Troy, TW
Two handed forehand? Is that due to an injury?
Yes, Chris injured his right thumb, so he is playing two handed on both sides, and serving lefty. He plays rather well that way too. Troy, TW
Hi. Does this produce snapback like poly?
Yes. The string snaps back well and I did not have to straighten it in my racquets. Chris, TW.
Hi TW. Similar to head Velocity maybe?
This one will feel firmer, and offer more control. Spin potential is decent with both, but a bit better with this one. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse How would you compare it to Isospeed control?
How would you compare this to Wilson nxt control? Thanks
Very close in terms of stiffness, but Triax holds tension a bit better, and a bit more spin friendly. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse on your written review it shows that Triax has more power. Would you agree with that? I want to get the more controlled and spin friendly string of the two. Thanks
Tryed today on a Völkl C 10 pro full bed 24/23.
Lasted 1 hour and a half!!!!!!!
Hi, I have a question. If the numbers on Tennis Warehouse for stiffness rating are the same will the Multi or the Poly have the same comfort level or will the Poly always cause more stress on elbows, wrist etc. Just curious. Thank you and keep making the videos!
We would give the edge in comfort to the multi in that case. We find that with polys that have the lowest stiffness ratings, they often lose their playability characteristics rather quickly, and become somewhat dead, or bagged out as we like to say. The stiffer multis, even though they are stiffer than other multis, they seem to maintain playability longer than soft polys, and provide a better pocketing and recoil effect. Hope that helps, Troy TW
@@tenniswarehouse Thanks Troy. And because of you, I slap on a Head Leather grip on all my new racquets! Thank you.
@@sandyadams9987, right on, and feels great! Troy, TW
What was the racket Michelle used for this playtest?
Same question. Seems like a Pro Staff 97 CV
The Pro Staff RF97 Autograph, her racquet of choice for the past couple of years. Troy, TW
Hi TW. This one or Gamma Professional? Cheers
Gamma Professional is a classic multi, that offers a lot of feel, and comfort. This one is a stiffer, more control oriented multi that has polyester fibers in it. This one would be better for those seeking more control, and a firmer feel compared to a traditional multi, or a more comfortable feel backing down from a full bed of poly. Gamma Professional will give you a ton of comfort, and more power in comparison. Troy, TW
@@tenniswarehouse Hi Troy. Thanks for your comparison. Have you ever tried Gamma Ocho multifilament strings? Cheers.
@@carstenberg4879, yes, but not a lot of time. For me it felt similar to a Gamma TNT2 string but with a bit more spin, and grip. This TRIAX is a bit firmer, and more control oriented. Troy, TW
TW Team: How about getting TennisOnly in Aus to start stocking this...?
@Kartik Jay,
At this moment, we are not sure if they will be getting it. Sorry about that.
Michelle, TW
Tennis Warehouse - thanks for responding.
I was looking at tennisonly today and saw the string in stock (which was how I ended up looking for this video) just thought you'd want to know
@@reb349 Thank you for bringing this my attention! Much appreciated...
u cant get this string in reels?
?????
It doesn't appear that we will be getting reels, based on our sales system. Troy, TW
Michelle, you look great! Normally, I think making a woman's looks a thing is very sexist, but I hope it's taken as an honest compliment. Good for you. Here's to your physical health and all the benefits. Cheers. BTW, Chris playing lefty is ridiculously amazing.
Man wish I saw this before the $5 Happy Hour special. $20 is a little steep to try and move me away from the TW Gut Hybrid
Never noticed Chris lefty
He is pretty good as a lefty! But he injured his right hand, so making the best of the situation, with two hands on both sides! I am still amazed how he hits a serve lefty! Troy, TW
Tennis Warehouse hope he comes back 100% soon. Thanks Troy !
Good Lord can someone let Chris take some sick leave! Poor guy is play testing with one arm 🤕
@habib ziayee,
He just can't quit us!

💯
Seeing Chris with a 2 hander is weird
Michelle, the purple skirt goes very well. Drop all white ones!!! Cheers.
Just curious, ever commentet the men's clothing choice on the tw team?
