    After recovering from injury, The String Bar returns to test one of the softest multifilament strings in the game - Tecnifibre X-ONE BIPHASE.
    We talk about Tecnifibre’s tech-heavy specs and how this premium tennis string is constructed. While testing the string, we try to find our form and talk about the real benefits of multifilament vs poly and how the 18 gauge pumps up the performance. Even though its lifespan is short, we reveal why this plush, thin string could be worth every penny for you.

    Great video. Thank you.
    I strung this for my Mrs prior to Christmas and she loved it after coming from synthetic gut. I hurt my arm (TE) prior to Christmas and took a few off. It still stings a bit after I picked up a racquet again (using a poly hybrid). I picked up my wife's racquet with this string and loved it. You're right. You don't get the spin on it but I might have to live with it for a bit until it fully heals (hopefully).
    Keep up the great work.

    Great to see you back, really interesting stuff. Extremely humble thought in case helpful: if you prepare slightly earlier and accelerate your strokes more smoothly right at the start of the stroke you may avoid getting the injury again. It looks just slightly into wrenching it about when rushed. Easy to comment on the rusty guy who is making videos for us, but in spirit of trying to help. :]

    You just got another sub! I really enjoy watching your videos and you're doing a great job with editing and reviews. I found your channel through the Yonex Poly Tour Pro strings review that I currently use. I was surprised by how many things I found out from that video because my Yonex Dr 100 with those strings has definitely had too much tension as it felt really stiff (Set up at 25kg!!). I have a spare set of those strings so I'm gonna get them set at 20kg as you recommended. Thanks a lot!!!

      Thank you sir, it's always tough getting back into things I think we are all going through it here! Out of those that I have personal experience with I give the softness advantage to x-1 biphase, where klip legend can be known to have a crispness because it's usually strung at higher tensions. The klip will maintain its natural stretchy feel longer though. I would say Klip if you need to leave it in for a long time just has more of a longer break in period

    • @garethward5010
      @garethward5010 Před 3 lety

      @@EvokeTennis it’s for sure more multi than poly, but in my testing doesn’t have the usual multi draw backs such as lack of spin potential and being massively over powerful, sticking out of place etc. If they can make it with a slicker coating in the future to get a better SnapBack think they are on to a winner!

    @augustblood6810 Před 4 lety +4

    Thanks for the great review - I also tried this string while recovering from a wrist injury (still am) after using polyester, and the difference was literally day and night (or Jekyll and Hyde) - it gave me tons of feel, control and comfort on a thicker gauge. Now I'm going to try a thinner one. I was actually smiling while using this string.

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  Před 4 lety +2

      totally, and wrist injuries aren't just impact related but could just be flaws in our swings or form, or mistakes that we pay for - but still reducing impact will help greatly. Ton of performance from the thinner gauge here. Right there with you, hang in there, come back slow, be smart, let balls go, and heal up!

    Nice vid. As a fellow tennis peer and stringer I can also wholly recommend X-One to anyone watching who want to stay on Multi/Syn gut and avoid Poly's for arm issues/comfort etc.
    Though what I noticed is this;
    The first time I tried X-One I didn't prestretch it at all (I typically don't prestretch strings for myself), and it felt great right out the gates. Once I was just getting used to how it was behaving, then all of a sudden after 1.5+hrs - boom, I felt a very noticeable tension drop, and I did Not like how it played after that and I couldn't groove with it.
    The next time I tried it, I prestretched it at 10%... still the same story happened. Finally, a 3rd time, I prestretched 15%.... and it stayed consistent the whole way through until it broke.
    Amazing string, just if anyone notices or experiences the same issues... the magical answer is prestretch 15%! 😁

    I just bought a set and going to put it in my Head Prestige Youtek Mid (2012?) 93 sq inch model at 48 pounds full bed. I came back after not playing for 37 years (I was a pro at 20 and beat Agassi back then when he was 15), and I immediately got tennis elbow because I didn’t know about modern strings and the stringer put it stiff polys at 58 pounds. Ruined me. Until I figured it out. No I’m feeling better after playing with polys at 35 pounds (yup) and it was fine but no feel or power. I’m so excited to try these strings. I’ll update when I play with them. Thanks again, great video

    My forehand is very similar to yours, I am an eastern grip player (IDK if you are) but we both have that exaggerated pat the dog motion which activates our wrists. I am trying to rely LESS on that and increase my backswing so i can get more hip rotation and racket speed, I know its easy to flick the ball over and it looks so nice and clean but trying for a more complete swing will get more consistent pace.

    • @EvokeTennis

    Getting an Ezone 100 but I'm stuck between this in 16 gauge at 55lbs or polytourpro 125 at 49lbs or a hybrid of the 2. I demo'd the racquet with tour pro at 53lbs. I work in a pro shop for all racquet sports so know everything there is to know but I'm only worried I shouldn't go with poly since I'm a beginner. I'm a badminton player so I'd say I'm a strong beginner but my form isn't perfect and loved polytour pro on it but worried I shouldn't use it until I have proper technique. I plan on getting some lessons this winter. I'm 20 and don't want to mess up my elbow

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  Před 3 lety +1

      You’re definitely in the right mindset and that’s a good thing! I would go with this at 55 because it will be so much more forgiving to off center and late hits that happen more frequently with a beginner. It will play better for longer than PTP which will lose its best qualities quickly.
      But no worries, down the road you can always start experimenting with it as a hybrid and see how that goes. X-one is a very capable and great feeling string that won’t limit you so it’s not like you’re missing the train or anything. I play with all sorts of poly but just love playing with multi too - you can hit huge with it!

      @@EvokeTennis I would suggest 18g for cyclone, and specifically the black version. For whatever reason I can't explain, the stiffness rating actually increases for this string when you go from 18 to 18L and then 19. With your type of serve, with 18g, you'll see that ball kicking up over peoples' heads.

    Curious about those clay courts you play on, recently I just found out that some clay courts are actually just ground up red brick on top of layers of gravel and lime stone. Do you know what type of material you playing on? Just curious ..... Great videos I enjoy watching I am new to tennis and recently bought a stringer and I recently strung up with Gamma Moto 17 its like a neon green sounded tinny at first game then that mellowed out and I kind of like it compared to Vokle Cyclone. Just thought I would mention it if you wanted to try something different. I have no idea if its quality or not its fairly cheap in cost.

      _R_ very cool never heard that about the brick. Around here it is all Har-Tru which is a brand of clay court, blue green in color. You can become certified by them etc there’s a whole science on how it works. These courts can get dusty at times in the hottest days and need a lot of watering, but can also take an incredible amount of water and be fine to play on after it rains etc. thanks for the heads up on the strings and enjoy that stringer of yours!

  • @DrSilentShadows
    @DrSilentShadows Před 3 lety

    You mentioned feedback on your playing, so I'll keep it simple - you need an actual topspin backhand, either one handed or two, doesn't matter which! Your forehand is pretty good but your backhand provides you with 0 offense, and your slice tends to pop the ball up too much, giving your opponent the opportunity to step in and dictate the point.

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  Před 3 lety

      So true thank you, I lost my two hander and never tried to get it back, just started slicing. The funny thing about it even though its a bad stroke is my opponents talk about it like it's my biggest weapon and they have so much trouble dealing with it - so I actually lay into it to win matches!

    • @DrSilentShadows
      @DrSilentShadows Před 3 lety

      @@EvokeTennis I think they're responding that way because (from what i can tell on video) your backhand gives them a lot of inconsistent junk balls. But if you face an opponent with good footwork they'll see those short balls and take the opportunity to dictate the point. Good luck on your tennis journey, keep making solid string reviews and I'll keep watching :).

    It is never a good idea to use multis lower than 17 gauge in racquets with over 320 of Swingweight. The durability should be comparable to Sensation at the same gauge. In multi world thicker gauge equals durability.

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  Před 4 lety

      interesting that's the first time I've heard that about the 320. Can you explain more? A lower 300 sw could be swung faster and equal the same amount of total force as a higher weight racket at a slower swing speed. And the higher swing speed could create more string sliding and more wear, no? Thanks

    • @jlparcerisa
      @jlparcerisa Před 4 lety

      @@EvokeTennis Hi man!, love your videos by the way. Now to your answer, you actually make very good points:
      1. "A lower 300 sw could be swung faster": correct, but this ratio is not proportional, because you have to consider there is a limit of how fast you can actually swing, especially if you don't have the weight + the balance to help you out. You can feel this when you play at sea level and then you play at say 2.000 meters above sea level (Bogota, Colombia for example), there you can "feel" the difference between air density and how it limits how fast can you swing. At lower air density you will be able to swing much, much faster (with the same racquet and strings)
      2. "higher weight racket at a slower swing speed": this is not exactly true, because you are missing the balance variable, what you actually "feel" when you swing a racquet is balance of weight of the racquet or, better expressed, how the weight of the racquet is longitudinally distributed. If you compare your AI98 vs a head IG Rad Pro (of 2012) you will understand the “feel” difference. Both have very similar specs broadly speaking, but noticeable difference in balance.
      3. “And the higher swing speed could create more string sliding and more wear, no?”: again you are spot on, but missing some key variables: string-to-string friction and string-to-ball friction. Higher swing speed generally mean more string sliding and consequentially more wear (that’s why Nadal uses 15L rpm Blast), but you would be amazed how especially string-to-string friction limits this.
      So in the end is a combination of swing speed and string-to-string friction mostly, and a little influence of the string-to-ball friction. That is why slick polys have very good spin potential.
      Do a cheap experiment: try the cheapest most spin friendly multi around: tecnifibre multi-feel 16g black (gauge and color matter) you will be amazed by the spin (another good one is Prince premier control), and the key there is that the string-to-string friction is one of the lowest of the multi world, consequently despite being 16g I bet you it will last as little as the X-ONE Biphase 18g, being the “exception to the rule” in my first post.
      Sorry for the long reply.
