Has the GOAT fallen off his throne?

- Believe or not, but Age Of Empires II, the famous RTS game that came out in 1999 is bigger then it's ever been. Let me tell you the story of the Greatest of All Times this game has ever seen: Ørjan TheViper Larsen.
Viper is a legend of AoE2, he was literally unbeatable for 7 years straight. But there is someone knocking on the door: Hamzah Hera El-Baher. What will it take to dethrone the GOAT? Can Hera do it? Or will Viper's domination continue?
I hope you enjoy the video! Feel free to react to the video, but be warned you might face a copyright from the music library I use. To avoid this, please sent me a message on twitter @TiramisEdits and I'll happily clear your video.
Thanks to Grabwespe, RoxyC, Masmorra, Nili, Saë & T-West for their precious feedback!

Oh and if you're wondering about the poster in my background, they're AI generated. But would you be interested in buying one? If yes, comment "I want one" and I'll know what you mean.

Everyone is talking about Viper but I want to make a huge shotout to the autor. This video is above everything we have in Aoe2 scene. Editing is just perfect and I cant imagine how much time it took for you to make a script and find all the videos needed. Incredible job Tiramis. Just wow.
Oh wow thank you so much, that means a lot! There are plenty more stories to tell, and I'm excited to share them to the best of my ability!
Viper will forever be the GOAT of AoE2. It literally took an illness to take him down and even with the wrist problem he is one of the top 3 players on any kind of game mode and on any kind of map.
It's true, I didn't touch on that but Viper was also considered the best in DeathMatch until he stopped playing the DMWC! There is a lot more to be said about Viper
On that note, he is the most versatile. He won mixed maps, kotd, death match, MoS, MoA, wandering warriors
i don't think that's why hera is better than him, I think here is better because he is just better. Wrist or no wrist, Hera grinded so much so hard right now he plays the best aoe2 ever. And right now of course viper is goat and of course he is so good he is gonna be top 3 like why whould not he be?? but what if hera wins 5 years straight? then hera will be goat, because if he manages that in an era when competition is the highest. I mean, u kinda discredited all hera achived by saying illness was the issue,
And he even excelled in games like AoE3, 4 StarCraft etc.
He invented modern-day micro, quickwalling and so many more things all top players now have to have under their belt to remain at the top.
Personally, I love him because despite all of this, he's such a funny, down to earth and genuinely nice guy.
He's always looking to support others, always galant in victory AND defeat and always loves to interact with us plebs in chat.
If AoE2 would be like football, TheViper would be Messi. Unbelievably good at everything you need in this game, as Messi is with the ball at his feet.
Which is a bit ironic since he's more of a Ronaldo fan because he's a big Manchester Utd fan too.
I suppose *something* had to be off about him, and it's his choice of football club. 11
@@romamgebrishvili7188 It's speculation either way but yeah, I don't think it's fair to say "the illness took him down". For a time he was one of very few who played AoE 2 as a job and that changed with Definitive Edition. While he is obviously amazing he's not magic. With enough practice and dedication other talented players can beat him.
Might be that he would have stayed as dominant if he was able to practice more but again, how could we know?
Amazing video by my favourite video guy. Great work Mr. Tiramis. Also nice posters in your room, 7/10 decoration.
Ahah someone noticed! Thanks man, very much appreciated!
Literally goosebumps all over! What a great video. And viper will forever be the GOAT of a generation ❤
You've been a great help in making this video, thank you so much!
Hera's loved one rooting for Hera, what a surprise !
Just kidding 11
Growing up everyone wanted to be DauT. Then all the kids wanted to be Viper. Will the next generation want to be Hera?
I still want to be DauT
Hopefully no one ever wants to be His playstyle is very boring!
Hera's a great player, so maybe the kids will. But then those kids will grow up and get to know the men of aoe2
I want to be Joadn.
Full-time project manager, wins tournaments anyway (with a little help from his best friend) and has a devilishly handsome smile.
I still wanna be more like DauT and Viper. They feel much better spokesperson of the game
Great editing mate! Thanks for the amazing video. I started watching TheViper when he still had low hundreds of viewers on Twitch - brings us all back!
Hey thank you so much! I watch your videos and the cleanlyness of your edits is something I look up to! So your comment means a lot, thanks :)
Honestly I was blown away with this, it's top tier work. I got chills watching the finals of RB V when it happened and I still do, but the edit was just absolutely amazing in every way, I had goosebumps all over. Hopefully you decide to make more of these, I'd definitely watch!
Goosebumps yeeeees! Definitely something I was hoping to achieve, thank you for your comment!
I am watching this video for the third time, first time in Viper channel (his reaction), then in Hera's channel (his reaction) and now here, because Tiramis thoroughly deserves the view time in YT for the effort he put into this video! Great job and you are an asset to the AOE2 community.
Please do some more AOE2 great editing contents! 🙂
That is so sweet! Thank you so much!
Fantastic video! It's definitely an impossible choice between Viper and Hera as to who's the GOAT, but the biggest winners are those of us who love the game and enjoy watching it played at such a high level.
I love these documentary like videos, always thought that Aoe2 could have some amazing ones. Great video !
Thank you so much! There is quite a few more stories I feel like need to be told for sure
Red Bull Wololo V was possibly the best live AoE tournament we've had. Viper in that Game 7 was incredible.
Honestly had never even heard of The Grand Melee 11.
Omg, a tear fall down everytime I see the Red Bull Wololo 5 and Viper being finally champion !! I think Viper stills the GOAT because of he dominates evertything in those years and beyond, plus he also won really specific tournaments like Masters of Arena and Deathmatch a few times each, and on team games as well ! Amazing video ! Really good work !
There was so much to say, I couldn't fit it all in a single video 😅 Thank you so much for the kind words!
I am also crying when I see those moments, goosebumps ❤🎉
One of the most iconic moments of Viper at his peak (or the end of his peak?) is when he swept Hera in the Hidden Cup final and in the interview said, "I'm sorry for the viewers". You definitely should have included that. I'm pretty sure I'm not imaging that.
You know that feeling when you hear a song and you go "dang, I would so much wanted to say that"? Well, Mr. Tiramis, I just felt that with this video of yours. So, thank you from the bottom of the gamer that still lives inside me!
The high production value on this is insane. The Aoe2 community needs more videos like this.
Thanks! 🙏 Will definitely keep making more!
Liereyy was such a sick player and an amazing talent looking at how much less time he spent with the game compared to Viper or especially Hera in recent years.
Kind of a sad story though, how incredibly often he appeared in the Finals of S-Tier tournaments and did not take them: Kotd 1, Kotd2, NAC1, NAC4, Grand Melee, RBW3, RBW5, RBW6 are the ones coming to mind. (He also has quite some S -Tier tournament wins, but still...)
Also when he lost, he lost with a lot of class when you look at his reaction after the gg against Viper in RBW5.
I wish he would be able to put in more energy and maybe break Heras dominance.
Liereyy has a very interesting story indeed! It is on my list of video ideas 😄
Yeah Liereyy is like the super fast-twitch muscle fibre, he's always a threat when he shows up so you better be ready
People tend to forget that GOAT means "of ALL time", they're not simply replaced cause they're not the best at THIS point in time. Once hera has inspired a generation, dominated the field longer than anyone else, set records nobody has dreamed off and spanned multiple iterations and mechanics/balance/meta changes then we can talk
Awesome video Tiramis, more please
hera dominated the game longer than vipy????
This was an editing masterclass! The opening montage, the RBW 5 cuts, the last few with Hera's dominance, all so slickly done! I can't thank you enough for doing this, and more of these please T!
Hera is the reason I keep playing, because he constantly drops amazing videos. So he is not only the best player but also a great influencer.
Agreed! Being a top player and being a good content creator require very different skills, it's impressive that both Hera and Viper can do both so well
I've watched this 3 times and JUST REALIZED the pictures behind him change every scene. THE EDITING!!
Ahah yeeeeees you saw it! I've always loved Easter eggs in games 😂
@@Tiramis_ I'm guessing they were digitally added and not actual real art pics
@@NickBrown79it's fairly obvious when you look at them with any scrutiny
As someone who played aoe2 back as a kid in 2000s and never heard anything about it up till 2020 and started following it, I can very much appreciate you for this documentary. This puts AoE2 in a hole next level. Congratulations and THANK YOU
Oh thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words :)
Amazing video
Next Video recommendation: Daut winning NAC4 I believe was one of the most epic moments and the community was so happy!
I really appreciate how both Hera and Viper recognize great players of the past in their reactions. The GOAT is an impossible title to claim. It is not as simple as who would win a match in their prime. I agree that the level of play goes up over time as competition increases. Any player will get better with good competition to practice and train with. The better the player, the more they push themselves, and those around them to improve.
Dominating competition is the mark of a great player. Single-handedly elevating the level of play across the entire game is the mark of a legend.
My introduction to competetive AOC was TheViper. I do not know the names of legends from before him, but from what I have seen he certainly is a legend of the game at this point. I remember from 2018 era that even in tournaments, TheViper always felt like he was messing around. He could always pull out the stops at any time, and never had anyone who really pushed him to his full ability.
Hera is already a great player, and I am looking forward to seeing how far he goes.
This has probably the cleanest, densest edit of an AoE2 game I've ever seen. It was super cool watching Viper's yellow march across the map 10x faster (via jump cuts) than in real time!
Glad you enjoyed it! I had 3 different versions of that sequence, first with a voice over, then one that was much longer... It took a while but I'm glad you liked it 🙏
Top tier level editing on AoE2 feels so right. Thank you!
Thank you for watching! :)
Top tier editing and compilation. Subscribed instantly. Amazing man!
Thank you so much for the support!
Not just an editor, but a bona fide storyteller as well. That was amazing to watch. Keep up Tiramis! Wow!
Thanks a ton! Really means a lot 🙏
C'est génial, merci Tiramis! ❤
Hera send me here, high quality video, keep them coming baby, we'll keep watching, subbed as well, we gotta get that count way up
Hell yeah thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Sick video. Thanks for digging up all that footage. Hope there's more to come like this.
well documented @Tiramis! keep it up! go AOE2!
Thanks for the kind words! Greatest game for sure
Just an Outstanding Video, Content, Editing, & Production, as the Old Salts of the US Navy say, "BZ, Job Well Done!"
Thank you! Very much appreciated 😃
Came here from the vipers channel just to show my utmost respect and appreciation for this level of quality content and I'm excited to see this channel grow!
Thank you so much for taking the time to come over here! Very much appreciated 😁
Dropping a sneaky 3rd place prophesy for nac5 at the end
saw the video now twice on other channels. its really well done, keep going
Thanks for taking the time to come over here and write a message! Much appreciated
This is Quality!!
Cant wait for the next vids!
In time youll get all the views you desire
The viper is and most likely will always be the greatest of all time. The viper basically invented and developed the current meta game, most of the things he did became meta; scouts and archers feudal play, cutting reinforecements, raiding. Besides all of that, he always thinks outside of the box and reads the game incredibly well.
The viper is like pelé, the one who pushed the game mechanicd forward without watching nobody's videos or someone's advices or coachings.
While hera is more like cr7, an incredible strong player, but someone that id there because of an inmense amout of training and watching previous great players playstyle and learnimg from them, and perfecting them.
People played archers and scouts in 2001 what's your point? just putting development of the game so complex as aoe2 on 1 guy is not correct, everybody learns from somebody, viper learned from daut and chris and other pros who were before him, I don't understand your logic, so many people contributed to the meta development,
@@romamgebrishvili7188 the way it was played back then was not like it is nowadays, not the timings, not the amount of army you make, not the way you use them
@romamgebrishvili7188 from what I remember the meta in 2001 was full feudal skirm and spear trash wars lmao, ahh the good old days.
I enjoy these gaming documentaries even for games that I DONT play...so this one obviously kept me on the edge of my seat (not literally)
Glad you enjoyed it! And I was thinking, what if one day we combine your history knowledge with my editing and make a video together?
yes please!@@Tiramis_
amazing video, rhetorically so respectful
Fantastic video tiramis! WP and snake is and always will be the GOAT
Great vid, I really think this kind of format is what aoe2 youtube needs to get even more popular
Incredible video! Came here from viper's channel and watched hera's reaction as well!
Dang thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed!
@@Tiramis_ honestly this deserves millions of views and feels like even folks outside the aoe2 community can watch it. Recommending to some of my friends who haven't followed aoe2 in a few years
@@6Xyzzy Aw thanks! I think in the future I'll try to make these videos as accessible as possible to people who aren't hardcord fans indeed!
Beautiful video Tiramis, keep them coming you're very talented!
Thank you so much for the kind words! :)
I love the pictures in the background which change following the context. Just so much attention to detail 🥰
11 Thanks for noticing!
yo tiramis. i know how complex video editing is. you have done a masterpiece. thank you for your service.
I would love to see this as a series, introductions of all the notable players we have had over the years, Yo, Tatoh, Hoang, Liereyy and lots of Daut moments. imagine this youtube with all highlights, summaries , downfalls on this level of editing. To refresh people's memories, remember where AOE comes from and just a road down to memory lane
I need Hoang parts!!
Definitely the goal! It'll take a long time, but let's build the library book by book, one at a time! Thanks for the support, very much appreciated!
Beautiful edit man, great footage gathering skills too lol, well done
Thank you so much for the support!
fantastic video! more svp. I love all of the players. What a wonderful collection of gentlemen! Thanks for the Dave clips too. He's fantastic!
Great video Tiramis!! That editing was really well done and it must have taken a very long time. Really liked how you changed the pictures behind you after every scene.
Yeees you noticed! I thought it could be a nice easter egg 11
GREAT video! Thank u!
Please keeps on with this Videos. Such a great job! Thanks man!!
Amazing video, Yo looks soooo young in these, it's hilarious.
great content man, would love to see more
Amazing video Monsieur Louis!! Good luck with the project and hope to see more documentaries in the future, our beloved Tiramisu
Hey thanks! I definitely have more ideas in mind!
Amazing amazing amazing! What a banger of a video! Probably the best Aoe2 editor at the moment!
The end hit sooooo hard! 😂 the pressure is on!
First time seeing your face lol nice hair bun!
P.S. yaaay! I made it into the twitch chat footage 😂 mom, I’m famous!
Thank you thank you thank you 😄
Great video! Saw it first on Vipers channel but want to let some love here, too! Thanks for this masterpiece ❤
Thank you so much for taking the time to come over here to spread the love! Very much appreciated!
The Viper is like Schumacher. Even when he didn't win, he was the best, he'll always be the best, and that's that! :D
Amazing video, loved it. A lot of goosebumpy moments
I'm so glad! I was hoping to provoke some goosebumps :D
From a longtime DauT and GL Fan, thanks for making and sharing this!
Video like this digging into the history of the esport is not something many other games can do to such an extent. Excellent quality - looking forward to the next on but don't burn out!
Well said! There are so many stories with this game, it's incredible!
Thanks for the kind words !
Amazing video, and so much nostalgia seeing this old clips and voobly days
Like Hera said, the short summary clip of some of the games are suuuper enjoyable to watch. I would watch a lot of highlights of tournaments cut in that fashion
Interesting! That's something I'd like to try as well, short recaps of tournaments while keeping the emotions! Great feedback 🙏
Watched this video here, on vipers channel and on Hera's channel. It is a very very well made video that brings back a lot of fun memories of watching amazing AOE2 matches! Keep this up!!!
Thank you for the support and thanks for taking the time to come over here as well!
Such an amazing edit. I cannot imagine the time spent finding all these clips
Thank you so much! It was a lot of digging but honestly it was super fun to do!
Relevant now more than ever.
Awesome video, thanks for your effort! I will share that one for sure
Very much appreciated! Thanks for the support!
The first amazing video of what im sure is going to be a digital reo rd of this great games history. Great work mate.
well Tiramis what i can say , you just dominated with this video
Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words!
Wrote a comment on Hera's reaction video making an analogy with football, how we believed that we wouldn't see someone that could be compared with Viper and then Hera appeared, along with many other players.
I'll be thrilled to see your way of telling those stories. And I'm not talking just about DauT, Hera, Lierey, Tatoh, Jordan, MrYo; we tend to only pay attention to those that achieve insane things, but there are other players that, while may never won an S-tier tournament, they did something valuable for the game and the community. Great example: Hoang. Maybe he's regarded as a meme player, but he is still above 2k and can take on more than 99.5% of players in the world while keeping an unique play style.
And still in that paragraph I'm focusing on players, but there's a lot of people doing a lot for the game. Like you! This video required an insane amount of work and only helps making the community bigger and stronger. We love that, and I do believe that people like you also deserve their own portfolio video like this one.
Thanks for the hard work! Keep these coming!
Aw thank you so much the kind words!
I have plenty of ideas for stories to tell, but I'm sure there are some that I haven't even heard of! Your idea for Hoang is a great one, same with YouPudding. There is also the story of TheMax and his Barbarian AI, Nili and his NACs, and I dont want to spoil the next videos so I'll stop here😅
I'm a DotA frog, this video has a similar feeling to the documentaries made for Dota, or the amazingly edited videos made by sponsors for specific teams of that game, it really is a treat to watch, I've watched it twice through Viper and Hera but I'll definitely be coming back to this video every now and then, the quality is just so high
Hope you keep making these, something I didn't expect was the video to be so educative and easy to follow for someone that's not all in on AoE2, cheers!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I do try to make these as interesting as possible for a broad audience, I'm glad you found it educative 🙏
keep working my friend...great video
This is an incredible video. Bonus points for the changing pics in the background. It was funny the only time viper noticed was when it was a wall full of his pictures and he acted uncomfortable
Thank you so much! For the pictures I expected Viper to notice the changes in the next segments, but I guess he was too absorbed 11
Great video, so many great videos. That moment he won Red Bull was emotional. Up there with Dauts win for the greatest Aoe moment after a great series.
That was an epic video! The music and clips were really exciting!
Hera is the greatest right now, but Viper still is the greatest of all time
great video ! aoe2 scene needs these types of high production, nicely edited videos
great work tiramis
Thank you for the kind words!
Amazing work!
Thank you for dropping the most bomb video I’ve ever seen. It was an informative and entertaining and also a hype video all at the same time. Some of the best editing I’ve ever seen.
Oh wow that is a huge compliment, thank you so much!
Your welcome! It is well deserved. In fact, I ran the full video three times to support!!!! Letssss goooo! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Nice video, keep it up! Only comment I have: Personally, I felt too much time was spent on Hera in the second half. Of course his rise as the challenger has to be described, but it felt a bit long, esp with all the tournament replays for "every" match.
0:45 no need to call me out like this :(
Incredible work TIramis, loved it
Just amazing cut and hard work to make this. GG !!
Amazing work with quality and added value. Congratulations!
Thank you the kind words! :)
I'm disappointed that I saw the video so early on for your channel that I cannot quench the thirst for more and get lost on more videos for hours. Awesome video man, keep it going!
111 Give me time and there will be plenty to binge watch! Thanks for the support!
A little more commentary on Hera than I would have expected but I think you've found a niche here! Excited to see what comes next
Such a great video!! Thank you for all the work you’ve put into it!
My pleasure, thanks for watching! :)
Great video, thank you.
You Sir are a legend.
I'm sure everyone here really appreciates your video, your skills and your dedication, but no one can really fathom the amount of work and hours you put into the research, digging up the old footage and all of the amazing editing you did to create this masterpiece.
You are amazing and you enrichen the AoE2 community.
Thank you!
Wooow thank you so much! That means a lot, I really appreciate it. I am stunned by how well this video is received, and I very excited to keep going. Thanks 💪
Amazing video you've made!
Thank you so much! 😄
What a masterpiece! Hats off to you Tiramis! 😍
Fantastic video! Please do more like this!
Thank you so much! I will :)
Great job. Keep it up!
Crazy good production
I try my best, thanks man! :)
1.50 sounds like a real rap 11, love it! "With the gG!"
It kinda does 11
Amazing Video thanks a lot!
Thank you for watching! :)
Wow! Aamazing! Well done! Please make a video on DauT! And IamChris! And the book he wrote! And Nicov's surge to the top back in the day, when he was the only one who could beat viper.... and still fell short?!
Great suggestion! That's gonna be some next level investigating, but I'm all for it!
I really appreciate the work that went into the making of this video.
And I appreciate your kind words, thanks man! :)
amazing video. great job!
Thank you for watching! :)
Man, I really really enjoyed this video! Even if I already knew most of what's presented here, it was great storytelling. I have always thought how the AoE community is one with such a long history, more than most online games, but there's so few sources documenting that history in an accessible, entertaining way. I'm really interested in knowing more about pro players of the old times, how the meta evolved, the major tournaments back then, understanding the scene and everything. I hope you follow up with the channel, so I'm leaving this idea!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I was wondering the same thing as you and wanted to try it myself. And i'm definitely going to keep going with such great feeback !
The quality of this video was absolutely insane. A rare thing in our scene. Thank you for what you did.
As for the goat debate, the simple fact that a debate can exist after what Viper accomplished is proof that Hera has done something remarcable.
Thank you for the kind words! And great way to put it!
