Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!" - Zábava
Didn't know Jim from The Office was on the show tonight
bob bear is going to sing

Hats off to you for not seeing race
i know, right ?!
One of my favorite performances from him, hands down!
My left ear loved this.
OnceUponAPiano lol😆
audio is fine for me.
oh crap, I'm wearing my earbuds wrong.
I thought it was only happening for me 😂
kek
He just seems like a cool guy to hang with
You look like justin bieber chubby brother O_o
+IHABi Simo I prefer his husky brother thank you very much
Randall Park is an underrated actor. He’s very talented. Keep on good work!!!👏
Randall looks like a handsome version of that dude.
We have a total Adam Wiles/Calvin Harris situation here.
Carrie Lynn ahahah true :D
Greta M. Well that dude is a bad, aweful politician in Taiwan.
Better than the current one, though.
Did he gain weight for the role???
This must be the first time Taiwan has been mentioned on an American talk show lol
Eric Yui No it isn't.
Eric Yui second?
It's Asian Jim!
That was one of the funniest bits on the office!!
Sorry i am slow, Jim Who? XD
You see what i did there Jim Halpert
Is it just me or does he look like Jim from The Office?
haa
Wait.. you're not Jim!
Bruno Zub "Hats off to you for not seeing race."
Fresh off the boat is one of my favorite shows! It's so good you guys!
Well that was a terrible interview... it's almost like he doesn't know what to ask him because he thinks he's different
I didn't realize Randall Park was the guy who played Kim Jong Un! What a fun actor. He's great in the MCU.
Jim Halpert is a great actor and salesman
Randall Park sounds like a baseball stadium
Lucas Williams wat?
nick robertson I think he meant his name
Neel Moudgil oh.......
Lucas Williams Park=朴
it is a stadium in Dallas
Is it just me or is the audio only on the left speaker's working?
the mix is for sure off
dagoogler01 it works but the balance sucks
thought it was just me
As an Asian American, I was sad by how poor this interview was. I absolutely adore Stephen and he's always fantastic at making conversation. But he just seemed impersonal around Randall and when it came to discuss the actually, interesting topic of the first all Asian American show in decades on network TV he wrapped the intvw. I'm shocked by how contrasting the two mens' image was and how white-centric Stephen came off.
I feel the same way. As a Korean-American, I'm so disappointed by this interview.
Most middle aged to older white Americans are like that
There’s a chance Randall wants to clear up that he was born and raised in America and his parents are KOREAN not Taiwanese like his character from fresh off the boat. Or it’s just white ignorance, but said ignorance could be why he wanted to talk about it
It's the producers, not Stephen
Watch any interview with Asian actors (outside of mixed actors like Olivia Munn). Watch Ellen, James, Jimmy, etc. They all are awkward.
JIMMY WOOOOOOO
Damn they do look alike. Hahah
Yoonbread Yes!
Is it too much to ask for ONE non-cringe worthy interview of the amazing Randall Park?? Randall your back must be hurting cos you carried this one.
He's so nice and funny and handsome, i wish he was in more stuff.
Only OG’s remember him from Supa Ninjas.
Cattleman's Ranch!
Wish this guy had been my nanny when I was a child. He has the single most likeable face in all of human history :)
Really funny guy. Love him in Veep!
"Did it worry you at all to be a Korean American, playing someone who is Taiwanese in Taiwan?" - Should it worry any actor playing a character of a different nationality?
For East Asians, yes. Because you have to take consideration that East Asians are not interchangeable, and shouldn't be. There is political sentiment and bloody history between Asian countries. It's insulting if you hire someone who is Chinese to play Japanese role.
It shouldn't. But people got made when Wolverine was 6'2 instead of 5'3. On when straight actors play gay. Or when ScarJo was a fake Japanese robot.
just imagine the outrage if brad pitt played as tchalla the black panther
@@abirachman will he be black face?
@@abirachman Not really, that's far too different culture. It's more like a British person today playing George Washington. Awkward if done respectfully, very disgusting if done to mock and skewer.
he was really taken aback by the high question dang
I would love to meet Randall Park he seems so cool and nice.
I can't believe I used to share a stage with this guy! So proud and insanely jealous of you, Randall! ;-)
~Trav
Stephen, the show is called "Fresh off the boat" to highlight the racism that came with someone using that phrase, so you're not supposed to use that phrase seriously in conversation that way! "Were your parents fresh off the boat?" And Randall has to look at him to see if he was sincerely using that phrase. Sometimes you are so...white. .
WTF do you even know anything about the background of the show or even who Eddie Huang is. It was not to highlight it as racist but more to make it less divisive. You are literaly doing the opposite of the creators originaly intentions. Seem like Stephen and probably production team thought over this and purposely used it on purpose. Based on the Book and Shows original intentions.
get a life...
Squish wtf are u talking about. Haha my mom came on a small boat pregnant wit my older bro. didn't know any English and was literally fresh off the boat. it's what they said back in the day so we shouldn't sugar coat phrases. stop trying to get angry for no reason
Squish "your folks were"..... and also, go fuck yourself, please.
Yea Stephen is so white sometimes, and Hispanic at other times, and I'm sure he has no POC writers either, and you can totally see Randall giving Stephen a "wtf what kind of racist ass question is that"-look at 5:30
what's wrong with the audio?
His show is way funnier than everybody thinks.
I've only seen a couple of episodes. Buts it's so funny! And I'm Asian American, born here, and I knew a lot of people whose families were FOB so this brought back so many memories!
JIMMY WOO
Audio is balanced waaaaaaay to the left.
How dare he sit down before his guest!? HOW DARE HE!?
ground-breaking little cutie! I loved the interview.
Everyone is talking about his bit on The Office but no one is gonna mention him getting his start on Wild N Out?!?!?!?
He don't need his father his strong.
Audio is only left channel. RIP.
this is why having a single back facing speaker is good. you can't tell that the audio is messed up because everything sounds like its coming out the left side of the phone.
Eric W. Apple had a patent on that set up for a while...
blackice11z I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. And to clarify, I was being sarcastic when I was talking about the back firing speaker. It sucks.
Is it just me or does Stephen seem a little uncomfortable and stiff talking to this Asian guy.
I feel he didn't know what to ask.
No, it fine a Korean play Taiwanese is completely OK (I'm Taiwanese)
Frickin love Randall Park!!!
These interviews are revealing the whiteness of our hero late night hosts like Colbert. Disappointing. Kimmel was similarly disappointing. This obsession with origins... Props to randall park. Kudos.
Ya, it’s them being a product of there times when Irish and Italian immigrants still had separate communities. Don’t think they’re tryna be offensive or to over categorize people but it can be annoying to watch.
Stephen post comedy central is just awkward as heck. That's really what it is. Its lack of preparation/horrible interviewing skills. Randall had to carry the interview and look how awkwardly Stephen chooses to end the interview.
Well, that was a vexingly short and mostly off-topic interview.
It did feel at the end like Stephen just didn't know what else to ask.......
My left ear liked this
OMG yes, I worked in a Kodak store, there are some things I just cannot unsee...........
They look....so much alike...
Jim crossed the line in that movie
Randall Park 🔥
this guy is awesome
The Interview!!!!
The audience don't seem very excited to see him.
Because they're probably like 'awww Stephen couldn't get the hot asian writer from the show on. Ali Wong *drool*'
No, it's probably because the audience is mainly white and black.
Awe he’s so cute.
I love this guy.
I like Stephen and typically find him to be a good interviewer, but he did a terrible job for the first 3/4'of this
Actually, most people using 1 hour photo processing services believed that the machines were fully automatic, instead of 'semi-automatic'. With all due respect to Mr. Park, their is not enough time to develop and print a full roll of color film 'by hand' in one hour, much less multiple rolls. Not to mention that virtually no 1 hour photo labs had the darkroom and other equipment to do that.
That segment was shorter than the huh trend
How much of it were you high?
Looks and pauses for a sec....
Lil bit
:.) hilarious xD
He's great in Veep.
I love him! He is so funny!!
Nice music.
Wow, do you ask white guests "So, you're scottish and german but portray an english person?"
Also to be fair, as people coming from minority cultures, we are so used to being put under the same umbrella term "Asian" whereas there is actually a great variety of Asian cultures that differ in many significant ways from one another. So I kind of appreciate that Colbert's question in its way acknowledges it, inquiring if he feels it easy to manage the portrayal of someone outside of his own background. Tho him asking this question may be due to his short of understanding Asian cultures, the intention is quite benevolent. It just serves as a good opportunity for all of us to come to learn about Asian cultures and how they interact and differ just like the way European cultures do.
@@han9118 Dude, pls don't explain to me about Asian. I've had to deal with plenty of "well-meaning" white people asking me pretty blatantly offensive and tokenizing inquiries. I don't want to deal with that nonsense anymore.
@ That's not really the same thing. McAvoy in the context of being in the US is a foreigner from Scotland, whereas Randall Park is an American born and raised. Just equate, does he ask white Americans the same asinine and tokenzing questions. It's fair game if someone, including an Asian, is from another country and he's asking things about their culture.
1313sp you know what I used to also find blatantly offensive? Asian parents giving their kids Anglo Saxon names thinking of this as a way for them to fit in. But really why does it matter? I don’t mean to say that there aren’t people out there who ask this kinds of questions in a negative way. But beating someone up just because they don’t know well just shows ignorance on the attacker’s part. Try not to give them solid grounds for accusing us of being “politically correct” which most of us are not. Btw, I ask white guys about their heritage too. It’s actually quite a good conversation starter and so far nobody has accused me of being racist
@@1313sp when british play American roles, they get asked that all the time.
Tom Holland has been asked that, and many others.
The same thing can be said about americans who play british characters. They get asked about it.
I don't watch a lot of foreign movies but I'm sure italian movies, german movies and so on, if another nationality plays a role of another nationality, they are asked about it in interviews.
His Acting in The Interview overshadowed Seth Rogen. Was larger than life and funny. A sequel would be great.
My left year loves this video..
Hyperion left year?
The real question is, does your left leap year like it?
Now he dont need to worry about a thing
Jimmy w💫💫 ganggggg
Look, is jim.
It's Jim
She recast Kim Jong Un...
It's Bing from college humor
Daniel Beck Bings more dumb twin
After 20 years wow
He was hilarious and scary in The Interview, nailed it.
That interview was really short ._.
I had no idea that John Krasinski was Korean-American.
Kim Jong Un!
Are they afraid to acknowledge just how much he looks like that mayor? Because he totally does. There’s nothing racist about it when he genuinely looks similar.
WOOOOOO💫💫💫
It’s Kim Jong Un!
Huh? Why is Dear Leader on the Late show?
When did Jim Halpert become a communist-gone-monarch dictator?
Lol
i live in Taipei and have lived here for over 5 years. Kidnapping is unimaginable, Taiwan is one of the safest countries to be.
We aint cool enough to make the team grandma
It's the father from Baby Mentalist!
Only the OG's know him from supah ninjas
I just came back to watching this interview after becoming recently hooked on the show. I am disappointed like many of the other commenters about how disinterested Stephen seemed in the show and what it represents for Asian actors and the greater meaning behind this minor increase of Asian representation on network TV. Hope Stephen will invite Constance Wu on or another character from the show.
Randell Park is awsome
He looks like the mayor of Taipei. And I'm Chinese.
'like', 'like', 'like', 'like'. Horendous.
Jimmy WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
He reminds me of Bart
Its kim jong un!!!!,
LOL Randall and Fresh off The Boat are amazing, but stephen is trying so hard not to be a racist white guy here. The mayor and Randall looks similar to me; don't deny it colbert!
On Kimmel, he was also talking about skimpy foto related stories. Is this a setup?
Asia is more like one third.
That's true, but is this including California?
California is not in Asia.
Brika It's just a joke because of the population there.
oh. sorry, I didn't understand it the first time. Now I get it. :)
@@Andesu Monterey Park = Mandarin Park
I don't see it at all either... Ok fine I see it
"Don't go to a quarter of the planet"to be fair most people don't go to the Artics, the Oceans or Africa
Adrian Duran most people either live in Asia or Africa -_-
lol Africa, one of the major continents? ppl don't go there? lmao
Yeah cause they already live there. Most people are not from America south or north or europe or australia
I'm pretty sure that's actually Jim Halpert....
Why was this interview so rushed?
that's an awkward talk, really, it feels like they had nothing to say and trying very hard to come up with something...
Korean American who has a same last name with me? This is interesting.
Park is a very common last name in Korea. very very common. Like a Johnson or Smith in America.
Oh, I know that. Because I am. :)
They looked identical. was it a joke that they didn't look alike?
yes
Your kinda do look a like hair style n smile n eyes 😆
I worked in a photolab as my 1st job too. Soooo much porn!
