Food shortages are a problem during the covid pandemic, how can you freeze bread so you will have the food you want when you need it? Think of your freezer as part of your Prepper Pantry and Food Storage Stockpile. What to do if you cannot find bread in the store? Shop your freezer! Stock up on packaged foods like canned bread, pilot bread, crackers, frozen bread dough, tortillas, bread and muffin mixes may be the foods you need to use and eat when you cannot buy bread. Tips to store bread in the freezer.
How to stock your Prepper Pantry? Dates on foods are use by, sell by, or best by dates, not expiration dates. Food is guaranteed to be the best quality until that date. Most canned foods and packaged foods are still safe to eat, good to eat, okay to eat long past the date. Inspect foods, anything "off" should be thrown away. Food storage is best rotated by the sell by date. Buy what you eat, store extra food, rotate and use your stored food, and replace it.

Thanks for the tip. I also use a half a loaf at a time, so there’s little wasted. I also use a straw, tightly and suck most of the air out, before freezing.

I freeze my bread so that it doesn't go bad. Here's a great freezing hack that works like a charm. Before you freeze it, take the entire loaf out of the bag and set it on the counter. Now, except for the ends, one at a time, pick up each slice, turn it around and place it back into the loaf. Now none of the slices are touching the next slice in the original way they were cut. Put the whole loaf back in the bag and freeze. Now when you take it out of the freezer, you can easily seperate and take out the number of slices you need and put the rest back in the freezer. They won't be stuck frozen together.

I've never tried the paper towel trick, but I do double bag my bread before freezing. Remove the plastic clip thing and twist the bag a few times tightly. Place an actual twist tie on the bag very tightly. Insert the bag, opening end first into another bread back and seal it up the exact same way. No ice crystals form and when thawed, it's as fresh as when I bought it.
What I'm wondering is can I freeze my tortillas and if so, how?? I tried the same way I do my bread, but they can out wet and sticking together in a nasty mess.
Thanks for another great video, AG! Much love and blessings!

Tortillas freeze great! If you;renmaking them homemade, Make sure they are totally room temperature before putting in the freezer. If you bought them at the store, don’t put them in the fridge first. Seperate your tortillas with a piece of wax paper, freezer paper, or parchment paper. When you want to use them, take out the tortillas you want and heat them up from frozen, either in a skillet (best choice) or in the microwave strapped in a towel, napkin, or paper towel (ok but can end up more moist).

For rolls, Costco muffins & buns, if you chill them in the refrigerator & then wrap them individually in plastic wrap & put the wrapped rolls back into their plastic bag, they don't get ice crystals either. I will try your paper towel tip with loaves from now on. Thanks!

I used to put my bread in the freezer, but even though I have a chest freezer, I felt space that could be used for meat was being wasted. So for the last month, I have placed my bread out in my non insulated back porch (I live in Canada). It hasn't been as cold as I expected, but I have brought in about 4 loaves and no mold. Not sure about the freshness, I eat cinnamon raisin and rye bread and I always toast it anyway.

@@AlaskaGranny In my area we have Bridgeford one-pound loaves (3 to a pkg) that are frozen. But also there are other bread type choices. I also buy Brazi Bites, which are small rolls (Brazilian recipe) that are made from tapioca flour and cheese.
