In what people, for some reason, believe to be the "last episode" (episode 103 "Blue Cat Blues") of Tom & Jerry, it ends in one of the most controversial scenes in cartoon history. This is not the last episode though as there are about 2 more years of Tom and Jerry shorts after this aired, but it is definitely one of the darkest.

Since 2018 summer which was undeniably the best time of my life, ended and September started I really just dove into deep deep depression and ever since I got my heartbroken I was completely f*cked up and to this day I can’t get the same happiness I felt back then, all I can say is stay strong and think positive it can be hard man, I try myself and I find it hard sometimes but it is doable and I believe we will find happiness one day.

The theatrical movie is underrated, people shit on it for making Tom & Jerry work together and talk, and for adding characters that 'don't fit' the series, but i think it's alright. Films break the mold from their TV counterparts all the time. Granted, the movie was my first exposure to the franchise so maybe i'm biased.
Tom and Jerry are best friends. They're the animal equivalent of two old men who have been meeting at the same park bench for 20 years, do nothing but argue with each other, but would be crushed if one were to pass away or stop coming. They need each other, they derive purpose from their endless conflicts, and deep down they care deeply for one another. Even if neither one will ever admit it.
Right, they fight a lot but in their darkest moments they have each other.
You know what's FUNNY? As a kid I remember seeing this episode probably a couple times atleast, yet the dark message it represents flew right over my head. Now that I've gotten older, Its a whole different ballpark of relatable understanding.
Same here. Guess you can still implant adult themes in these cartoons as long as it's done in a way kids won't be able to understand. Also, half of these cartoons are made for adults as much as kids.

He's only a villain when he's trying to cope his trauma but Perry sees him as the only friend he have. I'm still glad he changed in _Milo Murphy's Law_ where he gained a new life.

I think there is no villain or an evil person, sometimes we just think that believing from the Heroes' perspective too much is the problem. Like every villain has a reason on why they're motivated to destroy the society or the peoples' lives because of how they were treated from them before.
Tom isn't really a villian he is just doing what cats do.
A train isn't gonna kill Tom. He's a toon, so it'll just flatten him into a paper-like state.

The fact that I thought Tom and Jerry was from the 90s but turned out to be even older dating back to the 50s just shows that it was a cartoon ahead of it's time despite its simplistic plot. Animationwise, it's really well animated especially for something that came from the 50s. The background paintings are always well done, they add detailed textures for the scenery like the plants, the objects, the wood. The water animation is also decent, like the splashes, the waves and the droplets especially since these were all amde by hand. The color palette is just right, not too saturated like modern cartoons like Oggy and the Cockroaches or Teen Titans Go. Overall, no wonder this 50s cartoon still holds up to the present and a timeless series.

The part where jerry walks up and Tom moves over to make space for him is as masterful as it is depressing. Tom doesn’t care about anything anymore and yet still realizes jerry is in the same boat and welcomes him. The past between them is in the past and he realizes they are more alike than he ever thought and with that they quietly agree to accept there impending fate together. They have in the past hated each other and in the end they are all the other one has. Powerful.
Sad fact:
The original one is very dark
Instead of ending with a "the end" popping at the screen it ends with a train noise getting louder and closer and then the camera points at the sky and fades to black.thank god they removed it.

That is possible. After all, there's no proof that the episodes are in chronological order. Well, maybe the first episodeS do come before the other episodes, since Tom's look does change, but other than that, the episodes don't have to be in chronological order.

I will never look at Tom and Jerry the same way again. For all the laughs they have gave us, this one hit like a truck and the show really gave us more than happiness. It teaches us a bit about life.

I think the two scariest things in this episode are:
1. The cat girl shows absolutely no emotion or expression as if she's too apathetic and just wants your money.
2. The implication of what would happen if Butch would go horribly broke spending all his money just to keep up with a lady who values nothing except grandiosity.

Even when Jerry got Tom through lots of trouble with him getting kicked out or being blamed on, Jerry has some actual respect and values Tom's very semimental feelings. I love the both of them and how they actually help together when there IS something serious.
This is one of the best things I’ve seen in a while. Mental health is very overlooked and everyone needs a little help sometimes. I appreciate you as person it’s people like you that help people like me stay hopeful in this dark world- Bless your soul 🙏🏾

I am so happy that this topic is being discussed openly like this. As someone who's been fighting depression, it feels good to see that I was not wrong for having reached out to a professional this year. 2020-2022 has been the worst 2 year stretch of my life. I lost countless family members (including 3 babies). I seriously contemplated s#@#ide. Even as a believing and practicing Christian, I realized that just like you go to a doctor for a physical health impairment, you need to seek out a professional should you have a mental breakdown.

The way that Jerry was presented ( as a small mouse) really reflects the reality of life, where nowadays people think they need everything in life to feel good, but Jerry (from this episode and many more) shows that you should be grateful for what you have, from family to close friends, no matter how small they are and we should be grateful they are there. Where Tom was unable to see that Jerry really meant well.

It’s a great episode and narrated by Jerry’s character who is all-seeing of Tom’s mistakes and downfalls (and continues to be there for his friend) until the point his own life takes a turn for the worse - it’s a fine comedic tragedy and perfectly told through the various gags and escalations.
I love how T&J are happy in each other’s company at the start and depressed together side-by-side at the end.
The suicide element IS dark but in the cartoon it’s an allegory for hitting rock bottom - death is what makes it tragic in a classical sense.
There was no Tom without Jerry. What a duo.

I can totally relate to Tom's dilemma because I have struggled with the same things. I have a theory.
Tom and Jerry is either a time loop or they get new owners every time that happens which explains why the series continuously gets renewed.
Edit: this is really cool. A lot of people are actually looking into this even after a year since I've written this comment. Now, ItsXoar may be correct but it is still possible that they get new owners or this is a time loop involving different properties such as new owners, homes, and etc. Only to end in the same way it always has. John Doe could be right too, seeing that they can survive a heavy amount of physical trauma and Butch is constantly looking for other ladies.

My theory, this is the first episode. Butch is poor in other episodes and Tom and Jerry are no longer friends. So I think that at the last second, they both decided not to die and ran off the tracks, but they didn't make it in time so they both got bonked in the head by the train and forgot who they were. Tom was hungry since he spent all his money so he's been trying to eat Jerry ever since. Then of course, Butch got divorced and milked out of every penny from the goldigger.

This is a nice video and message at the end. There is a student that committed a suicide at a school I used to work in. I wish the student had seen this video of yours. Purpose is the reason for the will to live. Praying for every one who's depressed to see your video. I only watched this because of Tom and Jerry, there was a yt reel that people kept saying on the comments that Tom and Jerry are friends and such great friends they even killed themselves together, so I went to see this last episode. I never saw this episode when I was a kid. I was curious.

@@dnascrap I get like that too sometimes. I am a late bloomer. I decided to go to college and an apprenticeship a little later than some. I know it will not be in vain. Also, if I can at least help someone and touch their heart, then I know I made a difference. Sometimes just saying hi to someone improves their day dramatically. It's never too late.
