  • With the Lancia Delta integrale and the Lotus Emira, I realised that I currently owned two amazing cars that got a lot of attention AND were epic handling cars on the road and that both were a similar price.
    Where would your £80,000 go?

    As a child of the 80s who never missed the teatime, Top gear rally report with William Woollard, the Lancia is one of the greatest cars ever made, especially in Martini livery.

      Yeah, I still do not know that single moment when I first saw the car, or fell it love with it.
      I do know that I saw one nearly every working day on my commute to the City on the big roundabout bear Richmond in the mid to late 90s. I always looked forward to seeing it. Even now, the car just stands out and when people do look at it, with more than a casual glance, they see something that is unusual. It gives off a vibe even to the uninitiated.

    great video Ade! Nice to see you driving round my local roads too, I live in Walton-on Thames. So, for me, Lancia for the win, every time. I had an Evo 1 back in the early 2000's, really regret selling it. I've driven an Evora (which from what I hear is just a reskinned Emira) and it was OK, just a bit anodyne, whereas the Evo has soul and character. BTW - I'm an early 70's child ;)

    Great comparison but I've got to favour the Emira, as a modern sports/supercar and used as a daily it just edges it for me, but then I'm biased. Aged 58 and an Emira owner! 😂

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Před 9 měsíci +3

      Ha, I am only 2 years younger with a dodgy back and the Emira is far more comfy, even with my sports suspension.
      As a daily it wins by a margin to be honest.
      BUT - if I could only drive one car, once for the very last time, it would be the integrale.
      Larini exhaust now on my Emira - sounds INCREDIBLE. If you are near Surrey you are welcome to come round and sample it.

      @RevMonkey I fell in love with the Emira when I first saw it, so I'm chuffed to own one now. I appreciate the Integrale for the absolute beast of a car that it was and still is but given the state of the roads and the amount of traffic in East Sussex it would hardly ever get driven as it should be.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Před 9 měsíci +2

      @@paultune1696 Absolutely fair points, of course. It is a rough ride.
      Speed wise, like for like on a twisty B-Road, I suspect a Pro might be a bit quicker but for everyone else, which means us, the Emira will cover the ground faster and with less stress at only 8/10ths.
      Certainly love the car. I put a deposit down before the car was ever seen. It certainly surpassed my expectations. If they stop making the V6 cars then they will end up highly desirable.

    Brilliant video, really love the passion that comes through for the Integrale. I've owned one since early 2000's and driven many other cars but there is a magic like you say with the Integrale, it just oozes that magic every time behind the wheel. Cherish it, enjoy it and keep driving it!

      You've had the same one all that time or jumped in and out of a few?
      I wish I had kept my Giallo Evo2 from 2000-2002 but then again.. they do cost a fair bit to look after over time. Well, the bottom end blew up on mine so I was a bit unlucky.
      Very special cars. I will be taking mine out in the cold either later today or tomorrow for a nice run.
      One can't appreciate the car on a normal test-drive. One would wonder what the fuss was about. Not fast, not a great sound and you get thrown about... but.. get to know the handling, be at one with the car, in the higher revs and it feels like nothing else. It takes complete liberties around corners.
      If you are near Surrey , let me know!
      I have a new video on the car out next week - why I think it might just be the best car ever made.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I finance all this in cash from my pension pot, when I took out the 25%!
      Previous to that I did have cars on interest only finance with Charles & Dean.
      As you may have seen, I need to sell these cars in order to buy the other cars on my 25 Car list. I LOVE these two cars but am sticking with my plan but would buy either of these cars again , for sure.
      Interest rates have gone up so affordability has been hit and prices of most supercars/sportcars have dipped a bit.
      If I was to finance a car then I'd look at how long I expect to own it, what the depreciation/appreciation might be and what I can comfortable afford monthly.
      The Emira might be at a low. I recently heard that they have scaled back the building so price will pick up. They had too many and it impacted prices.

    I prefer the Lancia; however, in my opinion, it loses a lot of charm without the Alcantara seats. I'm not sure if it looks good in leather in real life, but in the video, the leather seems rather ordinary.
    As for the Lotus, it looks good, but I find the fins and vents, although functional, to be a bit too large for this small car, which makes it appear even smaller. It seems a bit overdesigned.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yeah, I do prefer the Alcantara that I had in my Evo 2 but have got used to the leather quickly and do like it. It needs a proper refurbishment really.
      Interesting view on the vents and ducts. Very few people say the overall look of the car is anything less than amazing.
      In isolation though, I would have preferred slightly different side vents. Case in point, I much prefer the smooth lines of the Ferrari 458 over the side ducted 488.
      I will try and get out in the Lancia today. Been a week and I miss it!
