    Thank you for the information. Since I stopped receiving email notifications I have been trying everything to get them to work. I will relax and just continue to check for new videos. I have looked at every video of yours I can find in the past couple of months. Retired after 50+ years working and collecting HO parts for the past 25 years. I want you to know that I have enjoyed your videos and information which have been of great help to me. I have a 12x16 foot area about ready to start laying my first track. Thank you again for all the information you provide to us all.

      Gary, thanks on that, I’ll see what turns up. As for Athearn locos, the last ones I got were Genesis F-units which were made a while ago and still had bulbs. I need to now shed a number of Stewart/Bowser F-units and Atlas RS-3s.

    You were talking about the notifications, I just go to Utube and go to the notifications and try to keep up. That's why I got to see you tonight. You were a recommendation and now I sub to you. Lots of information thanks, Chris

    Great information. Disclaimer: I have not tried this, but I have heard if you flash the Red/Green bi color led at the correct rate, you will see yellow thereby giving you red, green and yellow from a single led.

    • @TheDCCGuy
      @TheDCCGuy  Před 4 lety +1

      Actually with the 3 legged version you can power both the red and green simultaneously to get something close to yellow; more orange than yellow. Modelers have been making target style signal heads that way for years.

    • @t-traku-tube5883
      @t-traku-tube5883 Před 4 lety

      The "correct rate" is anything faster than the eye can detect. You can put one with a corresponding resistor across your DCC rails to check you have track power working.

    Good video!
    One topic that I would be interested in seeing you cover is computers: for decoder programming, as well as for layout operation - I've seen some youtube videos on NCE accessory decoders where the layout can be controlled from the PC. So 'how much' computer do I need to buy to 'get started' with 'Decoder Pro', LokSound programming, DCC computerized signals for a layout., etc. Thanks!
    EDIT: FYI - I currently have a MAC and am thinking PC for my next computer. Apple just doesn't work for so many things today (like most of the layout planning software, etc...).

    • @TheDCCGuy
      @TheDCCGuy  Před 4 lety

      There is a whole series of videos on DecoderPro and various interfaces. Go to my channel page and they are all grouped in a common section/playlist.

    Larry. Great video. Brings back memory from my high school years taking electronics. My question for you is what is the white item in the foreground of your opening scene (second loco pulling the pulp wood car)? Thanks.

    • @TheDCCGuy
      @TheDCCGuy  Před 4 lety

      Todd, I assume you mean the small white marker beside the track? That marks the midpoint of the under track magnet used with Kadee couplers for uncoupling.

      Model Railroading With The DCC Guy. Yes. Thanks for the explanation. At a quick glance it looks like a milk jug. Lol. Keep up the great videos. Have been learning a lot from your videos.

  • @nateshon3eastbroadtoprailr448

    The funny thing is I get notified via e-mail when I go live on my channel and when I receive a comment or reply to a comment on any video including from other channels, go figure. I am extremely unhappy with CZcams's decision on this and I think it will negatively impact small channels and YT's ad revenue.

    • @markgoodrich941
      @markgoodrich941 Před 4 lety

      I agree with you. I saw no notice that this was to take place. I went through my settings and checked and rechecked trying to figure out what was wrong. When along I didn't have anything wrong.

  • @marksawyer5299
    @marksawyer5299 Před 4 lety +1

    Humm...I'm not sure why CZcams decided to do that given some of our working situations. I'm also not sure if they were tracking click through numbers..what ever. I'm not sure how many of your 7500 subscribers are professional model railroaders..I'm thinking very few. When I would get an email to notify me of the new videos from one of my subscriptions I would know that once I got home that there was new content to look forward to. Technical stuff from You..Mike Fifer etc. Great videos from Luke Towan and Collin Sullivan etc. I'm at 160 in my favorite/Sub list and if I didn't enjoy every one of them they wouldn't be on the left side of the page. So in essence they want me to watch the videos driving down the interstate at 80mph? Or do they want me to have to come home and search for new content on my subscription list? I chose to be alerted..I chose my channel subscriptions. Can one of you creators figure out the thought process here?
    Thanks
    Mark

    Now when you say 1k resistor, what power rating do I use? I'm seeing brands with 1/2 watt and 1/4 watt. Which should I use for model RR?

    • @TheDCCGuy
      @TheDCCGuy  Před 3 lety

      1/4W is plenty for a single LED.

  • @nateshon3eastbroadtoprailr448

    I use 1K ohm resistors with all LED's for DCC and then fine tune the brilliance via the decoder CV's

    • @TheDCCGuy
      @TheDCCGuy  Před 4 lety

      That option is only available with a limited number of decoders, mainly Tsunamis.

    Good day, what would the typical resister you would require from Amazon to us with these typical LED's, i see lots of combination packs on Amazon with differant values, what I wanted to do is put lights on a track board that would indicate which track is powered using an Atlas switch control.

    • @TheDCCGuy
      @TheDCCGuy  Před 11 měsíci +1

      A 1000 okm (1K) will usually work for voltages in the 12 VDC range. However LEDs vary in their brightness and voltage so it is a good idea to have some bracketing 1K just i case you need one. I have videos on using LEDs for locos, buildings, etc., as well as one just on LEDs (#127) so do a search on my channel page or just scan down.

    my 2 cents worth about email notifications, i.e., From my view one doesn't need to open the email notifications since the title tells me who has new videos. that's all I need to know.

    • @TheDCCGuy
      @TheDCCGuy  Před 4 lety +1

      Exactly, so now a lot of subscribers who depended on the emails will be less likely to watch. Maybe they were thinking it would force people to visit CZcams more often just to stay up to date. Personally I know my numbers have gone down in the past month!
