It was so strange how almost out of nowhere, James Corden just kinda manifested into Hollywood and suddenly had a late night show and roles in huge movies
I just thought he was an extra on Dr Who for years.... He's a mediocre actor that's super limited in his reactions. I don't know where he even gets the ego from lmao.
Corden was popular for a few years in the UK primarily for writing and acting in a show called Gavin and Stacey. He then kind of disappeared for a year or two before appearing out of nowhere in the states. We have no idea how or why but it seemed to really go to his head.
You can keep him.
@@Oldlardhe was not "popular"
@@jzilla1234 around 2008 he was on bloody everything playing Smithy. I am not saying everyone liked him, just that he was doing a good job in front of the camera.
Not really, they do this shit with practically every big name you see.
Why do you think people like Doja Cat is a "thing"?
James Corden is the male version of Ellen DeGeneres.
I was thinking the same thing

Lilly singh
James Corden is the female version of Ellen Degeneres
@@Superabound2 I knew it was coming 😂
I heard that during the World Cup when England were playing USA whoever won got to keep Corden. That's why both teams were utterly lacklustre and there were zero shots on goal.
yea there was a petition and everything 🤣
hahaha what
We (USA) had a team at the World Cup? That's news to most of us. What were they playing? I think I see why we lost this wager.
Reminds me of that South Park Episode where none of them wanted to play Baseball lmao

The us dropped a fatboy on Japan. The UK dropped a fatboy on the world.
Most forget that Corden had to follow the greatest, off color, and very honest host ever, Craig Ferguson. He was the complete opposite of Corden. When Craig screwed up he would own up to it immediately in a humorous way that put everyone at ease. Ferguson's monologues about alcoholism, refusing to take cheap shots, and recognizing world events were some of the most well received moments ever. Ferguson also completely threw out the notion of trying to control and steer his interactions with guests and really did just try to have a good time with them, which they loved. The number of stars who appeared on his last episode opening montage is proof of that.
I think the network wanted to get rid of Ferguson's Legacy as quickly as they good and go back to controlling the narrative, which is why they hired Corden. Corden should've known he was being hired because he is a tool and that his boolsheet would be exposed.
Craig Ferguson was the best late night next to Conan.
@@JeffReams saddest part is their humor was too "strange" for most viewers.
Would have been very interesting to see Craig in that role during Trump and Covid to see what he did with the scripts they handed him. 😎
Scots vs Brits, a tale as old as time itself. Just FYI i have no dog in that fight, just what i've observed from across the pond. Scots are proud of being scum, Brits seem too distracted by old timey values that really don't matter.
I remember they were running through hosts for that show like an old man has to pee at night.
THey went through several of the BBtheory cast members, and some other people before James,
and he just happened to click well enough that CBS kept him. He got wildly lucky with Carpool, and that pretty much cemented his stay there, so long as he didn't cause TOO much trouble. Also his interview style pulling all guests out at once and letting them play off each other, (which is what Graham Norton does) is a somewhat unique and easy interview style compared to other US talk shows.
If you ever feel like a piece of shit, just remember that people like James Corden exist.

Even before his rise to fame, he was an ass.
I lived in Cardiff when Gavin and Stacy was being filmed, and he used to walk into clubs, and demand balcony areas were cleared and turned almost into an adhoc VIP area for him, kicking all the regular people out that area. He was known in the area for throwing tantrums when he didn’t get his way. I have no idea how he got the rise that he did, knowing his off camera moments.
I have to assume he cleaned the right pipes
He made poor people that wanted to be rich people feel talked to.
At least that's why I assumed my old housemates like him.
He's a male Karen
Let's face it, he's personality catfishing and everyone found out.
He's committed the worst crime for a comedian; being a comedian that can't take a joke and taking himself far too seriously.
He's like a school bully...beating others up but crying for mom when they receive a slap in the face.
The worst crime is being unfunny and having writers do all the “work”
He’s not a comedian.

We lost Craig Ferguson for this bellend on the late late show.
Craig Ferguson was great. Did they fire him or did he leave?
@@harambeexpress Ferguson was tired of late night hosting as well, seeing he went off script all the time shows. Just burned out on it I think.
Also had to do with Letterman leaving. Craig got to do the show he did because Letterman was his boss, not network executives for the most part. So long as Dave thought Craig was being interesting or funny he could do whatever he wanted. Dave's show pulled enough numbers and his production company had both timeslots by contract, so Letterman could do whatever he wanted with the hour after him. Which was Craig. That show was a fluke. A single really powerful person liked it so it stayed on the air for a decade.

If Corden was looking like he didn't want to be there like Stewart said, his response didn't need to be so angry, he could have just left it at "You couldn't be more wrong", or even just made a joke like "I didn't know what else to do with my hands.." which would likely make the audience laugh and they'd all be done with it.

Power (via whatever means - fame, money etc) reveals a persons true character.
I imagine he’d be one of the guys who would talk poorly on his show about someone hosting an event for a company full of harassment cases and horrible business practices against people + supporting child gambling so it’s funny he did something his people would tear someone else apart for doing
The thing that changed my mind about him was the new york waitress incident and the plane incident he had with his wife.
I love the comment "Everything you've said is true, every bad thing and I'm going to keep on doing it." The whole respect thing is actually pretty damn true. If these people would just come out and be like "Yeah, I'm a fucking asshole. I'm probably going to stay an asshole." People would hate them, but at least they'd earn that respect of telling the truth instead of lying about it and faking being a good guy to the public and a horrible shitheel in private. Like mama always says: Tell me the truth and I won't punish you bad, but if you lie to me, I'll spank that behind red!
But you get the gist. Doing a bad thing, but being honest about it, is seen as a more respectful thing, compared to lying about it. That's why people love Tony Stark. Dick to almost everyone, very rarely lies unless it's life or death. To take the words from MJF, "Yeah, I'm a scumbag, but I'm YOUR scumbag!" The difference between respectful hate, disrespectful hate and indifference/no fucks given.

The whole fat thing is wild. Ive always been a scrawny guy. Im 5'9" and have been 140-145lbs since 9th-10th grade or whenever puberty kicked in. Never had to try, always forcing food down to maintain weight. Getting older now, I have family with mobility issues and stuff, so they can easily put on a lot of weight and really have to watch their diet to avoid becoming obese (for example my uncle, ex military body builder who literally can't keep his weight in check because hes confined to a wheelchair now), but ive also been around absolute gluttonous pigs. Fat shaming in general is a bad thing, but when a 450lb dude comes to lunch break with 6x donuts, 2x gallons Turkey Hill Iced Tea, a pint of ice cream and 2x foot long hoagies... Honestly feel bad for Corden in a way, but he has indeed brought it upon himself. They use it to manufacture consent. Because the only power the corporation known as the US has, is the belief by the ppl that it has power. The US corporation is separate from the government of the United States of America. And that corporation cares about what all corporations do. They will tell you what you want to hear while doing different things behind the scenes. The media focuses on the spectacle of right vs left and never discus the things ppl need to know, because the media companies understand their role in the corporate environment. Nepotism and perspective management is the name of the game. But they are losing the crown because they are so divorced from the reality most ppl experience, even tho I believe they are creating the divide intentionally. The corporate management vs the workers. What ppl think of as govt, is just the corporate structure set up to mimic the original govt of the USA.
