Now that Hamilton is out of business it would be cool to do an interview of what it’s really like to run a tool truck. For example how much did he need to get started? How much commission to drivers make? Is it worth getting into?
I'm a Snap On fan. Get another Snap On guy for Snap On Friday. That's what I enjoy on your channel..
Much needed video for the non hardcore people who don't watch every video
Buy what you want I've had good and bad in all brands with dealers I wish Hamilton the best in his new adventurers
We called Cornwell, never answered, never returned the call, never showed up. It's pretty common knowledge in my area, the SnapOn dealer isn't the best if your not totally ready to get on, get what you want, get off. I happened to flag down Matco. He came back the next week like he said he would. Been here every week since, unless he has other plans that he let's us know of, ahead of time. Josh James is an awesome dealer. We are very fortunate. The manager ordered a roll cart. It came in this week. In the excitement of seeing it, unloading it, loading it in his pick up, he forgot the keys. Josh got the call, hey, we forgot the keys. Josh got in his personal vehicle, brought the keys by, same day. He doesn't pull the whole, salesman thing on us. He answers our questions, gets what we ask for, as quick as he can. As you've said over and over, and Saud again in this video. The tools are only as good as the person selling them.
Hamilton was an awesome guy on and off the truck, he will be missed. The Snap on guy at the meet was actually pretty awesome as well and I appreciated him taking the time to come and give some great deals... And a big big thank you to you and your beautiful wife for all you guys must go through to have an awesome meet every year!!!
I’m glad Hamilton is alright. I think the tool companies are pushing the tool truck vendors to buy more tools that they can sell.
Loved Hamilton!! Gonna miss him!! Have him on sometime.
Salute, from a Mexican all the way from Compton, California! 🇺🇸 🇲🇽
Thanks for letting us know what’s going on Clay. Hamilton will be greatly missed!! I really hope you get him in some future videos! I’m really glad you didn’t have a falling out, because you guys seem like such good friends that would of be terrible! You can never blame a guy for bettering himself/family. Wish the best of luck to you Mr. Hamilton!!
Hamilton was definitely entertaining! Maybe he could start a CZcams channel about flipping houses. I would watch it. Some of the catch phrases he uses if hillarious.
Thanks Clay for the video. I'm glad all are doing well and healthy. Change can be hard at times but also can be good.
Appreciate the update. Thank you for the content. Looking forward to more videos. Keep on keeping on!
These videos will be absolutely missed. Love watching you and these guys chit chat and go back snd forth. I loved watching these tool truck videos. Do what you can, I look forward to seeing what the future brings on this channel.
Appreciate the followup video. DOnt remember when I started watching but the truck videos are always fun. I like your view as a mechanic, being in a different industry myself.
An idea for videos: Show us things that you do or use on a regular basis that you couldnt do without. I use the tub o towels for everything and how you keep your tools clean was great info.
Thanks for the update! Always enjoyed both vendors!
Clay , I am glade to hear that everyone is busy. Many times things are so Mobil now a days . All the large tool companies are doing well in areas that the dealer puts in 100% .
Good luck Hamilton hope your new venture is a raving success.
God bless you and yours brother, thankful for you and tool vids has absolutely helped my tool game
Glad to hear everything is going well for you.
Damn I’m just seeing this today, was wondering what happened. I loved watching you two hang out on the truck, y’all should definitely still make videos outside of work. Great friendship was great to watch
Wish you all the best Hamilton. Thanks for another great video Clay.
Good luck and stay safe to all of you !
Hamilton , thank you 👍
Glad Hamilton is alright, thanks for the video Koon going over everything! 👍
And you have all the best tool guys, I have Cornwell and snapon that's it. I have a matco box and need slides but not paying up front to repair it so dealing it with 20yrs now!
I just enjoy listening to yall talk tools
THANKS for the updates👍
Thanx for the video Clay. Really missing Snap On Friday. Being i South Africa those videos would be available to us on Saterday mornings. So for 4 years thats how my Saterday started, coffee, breakfast and Snap On Friday. Hamilton became part of our lives, and I really do miss him. All the best in his new business ventures.
happy to see there is no drama.
Thank you for sharing that Clay, I was 99% sure you didn’t have a fallout with Hamilton, was a little concerned something happened health wise, just didn’t think it was appropriate to ask. Thanks again Clay, take care and God bless
Thank you for all the information and I wish Hamilton all best in his new endeavors he is an awesome guy I did get to talk to him a couple of times on the phone and he was always a good guy to talk to about tools
Thanks for the video. Still miss Hamilton. Thanks for putting in the time to make/edit the videos.
The videos are going to be missed but by some of your videos i have found some new tools and you showed a video in nc on a awesome tool truck witch led me to reaching out to him and now he is my tool dealer and a real grate one that takes care of his customers and he has a awesome truck i have seen a lot of good people come and go frum your videos but i guess it's just part of the journey keep up the good work
Great vid Clay, best wishes with your future endeavors!!
thank ya Mr koon yea I'm glad you got this out. got to get him back in the shop time from time to see how he is
Thank yawl for great videos, God Bless yawl! I understand !
Good content. I like how you keep it clean n real. Good job.
Appreciate your videos Clay!
Well that was certainly something special. Sorry you felt compelled to have to share so much of your personal business with your audience but that's the kind of thing that sets you apart from the pack. And finally a very large thanks for turning me onto JDTCO, VIM, KNIPEX, LANG, LYSLE, EZRED TEKTON, and all the rest of the really cool tool folks you hang out with. Wishing you calm winds and fair seas on all of your travels where ever they may take you.
The end of an era, but all good everybody’s ok and so on with the future :) I’ll sure miss the Snap-on Friday banter between you two
Clay all you can do is be yourself that's it. and you are doing a great job drama was in high school 🔧🔧🔧🔧
I have to think that the mobile tool business would be very difficult today. Too much competition and the internet has changed things for everyone.
I admit Joe is a great tool dealer.Great service out of him and still will buy from him.We have a new Snap On dealer here and have not met him yet.Previous dealer retired
Thanks for the information and advice 🔥
That white and blue Matco box is gorgeous
Thanks
Thanks for the great explanation!
Good to hear Hamilton is doing ok.
You're not wrong about online tool purchasing. I'm a second year apprentice in Australia and I reckon I've bought about 75% of my tools online. We got one truck that shows up on a Thursday (snap on), but if you guys think snap on is expensive in USD you should see the prices in AUD lol
Problem all the numbers are upside down for you guys
hamilton was cool cat man, thats rough glad no drama that sucks i just got some snappy tools (for the life of me i cant get another guy tool truck out too my shop) best of luck to the guy.
If I want drama, I'll watch a soap opera lol.thanks for all your videos!
Going to miss the Hammy! Tell him to stay cool this summer. Good video 🍻
Great video as always. And, that Matco shirt is sharp.
That's the way life should be no drama they will be missed though good luck to them in there ventures
Your a good dude clay....youll figure it out ! 🤟
Hamilton will definitely be missed, I wish him all the best for the future. If I wasn't in the mood to listen to music, I used to have the Snap On Friday or Matco Monday videos on in the background while working in the garage.
My dad buys all my snap on I like to prepare in case I ever want to work on something but I probably never will my dad pays for everything lol
I think Hamilton should be a special guest on future videos, gonna miss Hamiltons contagious laugh
You are right on point, Clay they're good dealers and one's that suck , it's just the way it is.
honestly, id listen to a podcast of you and hamilton just interacting, sharing stories, and talking about w.e
Hey Clay .. yes I too will miss your and Hamilton banter, he’s a great guy, seemed that he would do whatever it took to keep good customer relationships.. that’s such a great thing for a tool guy.. hopefully he will stop by sometime, not sure where he’s residing? But keep up with Team Matco , Michael and wife (still don’t know her name) I like your interviews with them.. all good stuff.
Awesome video we have a new snap on dealer
Hamilton was the man! It would have been absolute pleasure working with him. Best of luck! Clay you have the best tool reps.
Our snap-on dealer finally went under and just this Thursday our new one came after like a month of MIA from our previous dealer. The old one had bad credit with snap-on and would take a long time to get anything ordered and even getting warranty work done. I just ordered the tools I asked for from the previous dealer and got some warranty stuff done after about 4 months of "I can't order it yet". Hope you get another great dealer on your route, snap-on should know how big of an influence you are for their brand or tool brands in general.
Loved the banter between you and Hamilton, but is what it is. Defiantly should get a video of Hamilton racing.
Jesus I was wondering what happened to SnapOn Friday?? I had to scroll through your videos to find out 😢 I dont know how I missed this video.
I have definitely seen the fall off in mobile tool trucks over the past decade. I went from having 4 different trucks stopping by my shop,Matco driver went out of business ( had 3 drivers in 7 years) so now im down to just snap-on. I'm in a big city too (Philadelphia)
Totally agree with buying from the dealer and not just focusing on the brand. My Snap On guy has been swapping stuff out for my dad and he hasnt bought Snap On tools in over 15 years and my dad bought them from the old dealer in my area. I wish Hamilton all the best
I knew something was up with Hamilton and your segments on Fridays. Didn't know if he retired was sick or something else. I've known two Snap on dealers that quit because it was a pain in the ass dealing with customers and the company. I'm seeing fewer and fewer Snap on dealers all the time. They're in a world of hurt right now getting new dealers. With all of these tool companies making some quality tools often times better and much cheaper than Snap on it's getting harder for companies like Snap on to compete with them. Nowadays with online ordering it's just more practical to get a tool vs waiting on your tool guy to show up. Gonna miss Hamilton and your Snap on Fridays. I liked the guy so much and you guys were such a great team. One thing I've learned in life is the older I get the less I like change but so be it.
I like the fact that u have a NO DRAMA channel. Good for u and us !!!
Thank you. I can’t stand the drama or talking about others.
This is my problem with the tool trucks is how the parent company treats the dealers. Who are the their customers. Its kind of like being in between a rock and a hard place. Average Dealer in my area lasts 2-6 years.
Hate to see Hamilton gone, I’m in Southwest MS and have a jam up Snap On dealer, Matco guy stopped by last week and gave me a slamming deal on a new Roll cart and 1/2 digital torque wrench. First time dealing with him but I hope he turns out to be just as good 👍🏼
I too miss Hamilton. I really looked forward to seeing him weekly. I do wish him all the best. I'm glad there is No Drama as I don't like it at all. Micheal & his wife are very nice people. You do an outstanding job as well. I sure hope things turn around for you, real soon. GOD BLESS
Wait it’s Marco Friday now your talking snap on.
I must say I miss the convict, I really hope he can stay out of jail.🤣🤣😂
Clay I got one of the ct861 impact's and I gotta tell ya that thing is bad ass when you get the chance to get one GET IT man. I'm glad Hamilton is doing what he wants to do but he's gonna be missed.
I looked into a tool truck franchise, did a ride along with a local Mac truck. I took a pass, by the time they loan you 100,000 for the truck and the inventory at 15.99 % you are in the hole for $1400 a month just interest payment. The guy I rode along with sold only one item that day and all he was doing burning fuel doing weekly collections on truck accounts.
Can we get an toolbox tour? Maybe it can take the place of snapon Friday videos or your box, then cart, then other's boxes... Etc. Those custom tools for that very specific bolt and what not. Would be cool to see the differences in brands that people love and they're go to ratchets and their reasoning. Especially with come to power tools.
I’d like to see you on the JDTCO tool truck
So when do you sign the paper work with SO and get your box truck!?! You’ve had some pretty good mentors!
Well doggone it, I work at the caterpillar dealership in Oklahoma City and would’ve liked to have met you and bought ya a glass of tea
I love ❤️ NO DRAMA! 😉🤣
The Very Best to Hamilton and His Family.. He was a One of a Kind..
You do it!! You become the new snap on dealer!!
No thank you!
You gotta give your business to the dealer that shows up, shows respect, and shows a want to take care of you. The customer also needs to show a willingness to part with some money if they want said dealer to keep coming by. My shop lost a Snap-On dealer, when they found a new guy to take over the route he would stop by then stopped, turns out he considered the guys in my shop lookers, not buyers. We now only have Cornwell and Mac Tools.
Sadly, I think we will be losing our snap on dealer very soon also. A lot of what you alluded to about Corporate shoving unwanted tools down the franchisee’s throat and not giving them the support behind the scenes when it comes to repos, unwanted tool promo packs, and rebates. Clay I think you’re right as far as the tool business evolving away from the weekly truck visits, especially with fuel prices and inflation.
Love that box. You need to take that blue oval off and put a bow tie in its place 🤣😂. Certainly do enjoy the videos too
Matco Michael is my favorite tool truck.
Hamilton will be missed. Hope you get a new Snap-On guy soon. I root for Matco Michael to be successful. He’s a good dude, he treated me very well.
I hear they trying to get 1 going on up there keep your fingers crossed.
Yes we need a Hamilton video!
We miss him !
Get a Hamilton video ASAP
We are going through he DT’s
Good for Hamilton, I will definitely miss his sense of humor but I'm glad to hear he's doing great making more money.
All your videos, especially the ones featuring snap on and Hamilton have been absolutely awesome. Spent a lot of my time over the years watching them. Super bummed for this news but happy to see Hamilton finding something he enjoys and can make him some money! Also, Keep up the awesome content! Love when I get the notification a new video was dropped!
I miss the mac truck and tools the most and that was the coolest dealer
Maybe a video talking to the tool truck guys discussing how to approach the tool trucks. I've seen a lot of posts about how to buy tool truck tools without a dealer. I am a mobile mechanic and I don't have a shop they can stop by to sell me tools, so I had to figure out how to get setup with them. I personally saw the matco truck on the freeway, took a picture of his number and called him later on. I saw the snap on truck at a shop near my house as I was driving and stopped to talk to him and got his number, he is now my snap on dealer. I reached out to mac thru Facebook and they gave me contact info for a couple of dealers in my area. I don't think a lot of poeple know that you can approach the tool truck or how to do it.
First truck shop I worked at the snap on dealer made fun of my harbor freight ratchets and called them junk and was always trying to sell me a box and It made me never wanna buy a snap on tool then the next shop I worked for had a different dealer and they were absolutely awesome not a hard sale very friendly and they complimented my Matco box I had at the time. Now I have a snap on epiq off their truck and some good tools cause they were just friendly and not pushing product
Man it is SO nice to be retired and I'm 3/4 of the way through selling/giving away most of my tools. My brain loves it. Maybe I'll see you at the lake some day. hasta la vista my friend.
believe me dont ever give away or sell tools their is no benefit
I wish all of ya'll the best have a great weekend
It’s been a month of Sundays since I have watched a video, Mr. Clay, but that’s on me being busier than a centipede at a toe-countin’ contest. I reckon Tracy Lawrence was right, “Everything changes…everything changes”. I pray Hamilton’s new venture does better than he expected.
As they save the drama for yo momma. You are lucky to have have some great tool dealers!
I got lucky to have great Matco and Snap on dealers. Both of my dealers come twice a week.
Thanks for "ending the silence"
it usually takes atleast two weeks to get tools from my s/o dealer, online tools look better all the time
I had been wondering what happened to Mac vids. I knew about Hamilton from other vids. From what i gathered from what you said he was only a Snap-on dealer for four or 5 years?
