@@alainorozco8032As much as I love Snap On my Koken gives them a run for their money in alot of categories (nut grip, universals, extensions). Not shocked, Japanese have this thing we’ve largely lost in a lot of manufacturing….. PRIDE of workmanship
The Japanese make some awesome ratchets, I have quite a few Kokens, Tone, Top, KTC and Ashsi.
Another vote for token over the others. Can't beat the price for what you get with Koken. The quick release flex head with Kokens version of the comfort grip is my new favorite.

I have Mac, Snap op, and Matco. Honestly I like all of them they all have a purpose when in need 😅
My father bought me a 3/8" drive SK set when I was about 13-14. A few years later, he bought me a 1/2" drive set. They both had round-head drive systems, and knurled handles. Fast forward I bought an SK 1/4" drive set about 12 years ago. A knurled handle round head is all I have ever used and I like them very much. I recently bought SK LP 90 ratchets, made in the Snap-On style. I am not sure how I like it. I like the idea of the soft grip handle and would like to try one. Good video!
I love the button press ratchets because some ratchets its hard to get the socket off but with the button it falls right off
I'm a DIY guy that spent a few years professionally. 90% of my ratchet collection is pittsburgh but I do have 2 snap on ratchets( extra long 3/8 flex head and 1/4 locking flex head) as well as a 1/2" Gearwrench 120XP, and an older 3/8 Cornwell that I got for free. Healthy mix of rubber comfort grip and hard handles
One thing I like about the comfort handles is that when its really cold in the garage(sub 40°F) its much easier on the hands to have the rubber covering.
But the things I like on most ratchets are: high tooth count, 72 is decent but the more the merrier, zero or low backdrag, flex head thats easy to tighten, and comfort grip!

Been all over the place with Snap On, Matco & GearWrench. I’ve ended up pretty much retired all my Snap On & GearWrench 120’s ratchets, my Matco 88’s are now my back ups and my standard handle GearWrench 90T’s are my primary use ones. I’ve bought pretty much that entire line up now. They just work & feel great to me. I did recently buy a comfort grip 90T’s to try that grip out.

My favorite ratchet is the SnapOn 3/8 bent ratchet swivel head because when I have the room I can bend it over and work it very fast. I have it in comfort handle and hard handle but I do love the comfort handle better. And thanks for showing us the different ratchet’s wow there is definitely a bunch of them

All 3 of my “go to”/“favorite” ratchets are flex head comfort grips, 1/4 and 3/8 are both Matco because once I used their locking flex heads I have not found anything I like better. My 1/2” is a Snap On and I really love it, I don’t miss the lock on the flex head with that one personally. I have a straight comfort grip Snap On 3/8 and a flex head Snap On 3/8 also but that Matco locking flex head replaced them both as far as what I like.
Been a heavy equipment mechanic for ten years. I have them all and like them all. The ones I grab the most are Mac swivel head ratchets. They’re amazing and have taken a beating.

A few years ago i read a article that stated the average tech had 18 different ratchets.
After reading that i stood there thinking i definitely have a problem. I passed that number by 1990. I am semi retired and continue to buy tools, especially ratchets and ratcheting screwdrivers.

Yes you will. I loved/love being a mechanic, state certified in 85 and ASE certified in 87. If I may, two things to remember.
First, if you need to borrow a tool more than once then you need to own that tool as soon as possible.
Second, buy quality tools. 95% of mine are American made, that's my personal choice. When I started to build my set there were no internet. You were mostly limited to truck tools. I have never regretted spending the money. I understand now days it's different.
But never give up quality for price.
I recently had a discussion with man that had a four year state degree he had received in 02. He was digging on me and all the money I had spent on my tools over the years. I figured we had invested about the same money. I asked him, what could he sell his four year degree for?
What? What do you mean sell?
Well my American made box(s) are worth about 50% of what I paid. (I wash and wax my boxes) my American made tools are at a minimum 75% of what I paid, many are worth more, 85% or so.
So at the end of the day my investment has some pretty good return value, unlike yours.
Watch what most tech own for their tools. Keep a eye on who makes the tools. Many times you can get the same exact tool much cheaper.
Yes I am a Snap On believer, there us a reason everyone compares their tools to them. Milwaukee is another I am a fan of, they are number 1 for a reason. Everyone offers a "lifetime warranty" personally I try to buy a tool that never needs it (hopefully) Tekton, Milwaukee, Sunex, Capri, SK, etc. All make pretty good hand tools and starting off making bank is priority 1.

I really like my snap-on hard plastic handles over the comfort grip. I have bare chrome too, but I really like the plastic the best. I've got Tekton and Carlyle as well. I like them all. I prefer high tooth count, lower profile heads and low profile switches.
Most important is service! All my ratchets are snappy as he is the only tool guy we have, and provides superior service. Each ratchet i have is for a specific job. All are chrome, as i'm old school.
I like hard handles for greasy jobs and comfort grip for interior work. Snap on hard handles are my go to. The Nepros is way to slick when greasy! 72 to 90 tooth is the sweet spot for tooth count.
Like you I have a few from all the tool trucks my favorite are snap on chrome hard plastic handles for me just feels comfortable

Matco 3/8 locking flex is my go to, along with my hard handle Snap on flex.
I like the hard handles for dirty things and comfort grips especially if do something outside in winter i prefer snap on and Matco best

Definitely my snap on 3/8" flex head soft grip... Great ratchet.. Surprisingly my soft sided work bag for heavy duty truck electronics I used the soft handle gearwrench.. I thought I would hate them but after losing some expensive Ratchets doing night fleetwork outside in the dark they work well..
My favorite is the Matco 3/8" 12" regular chrome locking flex, I really like the thin head profile for tight spaces.

My favourite ratchet that I usually pick up first out of my box is my 3/8” Gray tool flex head ratchet.
Great overview! For grip, I like S-O comfort and hard handles in a mix of flex and standard from 1/4" to 3/8". A fan of Koken too, but not so much the handle style.
Snap on new locking flex head 3/8 green comfort grip is my go too. I thought I'd lock the Matco in same set up & thinner but the Snap on feels way better to me. Like you said all about preference.
My favorite is the comfort grip Snap-on but i have more matco ratchets than any other about 30 ratchets but still buying

Clay each ratchet has its purpose I do like my Snap On comfort grip adjustable, head ratchet. I seem to use this a lot. I also have a older Matco 90 tooth adjustable head ratchet with the hard orange plastic handle probably from the 2004 era. I was still in the military when I bought it. I seem to use that a lot it’s got a longer handle but like I said every ratchet has its purpose I have approximately 15 ratchets or so of various sizes.i like chrome finish I also like the comfort grip handles, but they seem hard to keep clean
For comfort grip my absolute favorite is a tie between Matco and Mac. Can’t say for sure on snap on all mine are hard handle and for which one I use depends on the job

Slim head design , comfort grip and locking flex head is a must and why I ve using the matco for years now. But I have high hopes for snap on s new 100 tooth ratchet.
I am addicted to ratchets too clay, it’s ok!!! I like the chrome handle ratchets. I have probably 25 different snap on ratchets. My go to ratchets are usually the non locking flex heads. Had a couple matco ratchets, they kept breaking the gears inside so I traded them in. Herd they have new updated gear sets, might have to get one and try it out again. Awesome video as always!!!
I love comfort locking flexhead ratchets and sometimes just flex head ratchets but hands down flex ratchets my best choice.
I like snap on but i don't own a matco. I hear great things about them and i really dig the soft purple grip. 1 day I'll buy one. Right now i have to upgrade my scanners.

I like the gear wrench 90T. My ancient Snapon 5/8 hard handle IR air ratchet makita 20v ratchet. The Capri soft handle is ok too. I threw one in my truck tool bag
My snap on hard handle flex head is my go to. Tried many others aside from koken
Right now my favourite ratchets I have are
1/4” 6.5” Capri fixed head
3/8 11.5” snap on hard handle fixed head
I find flex heads to be useful in situations, with that said using the proper extensions with a fixed ratchet is another way to get a job done, it’s the way I like to work. I own a flex head in all drives and main sizes for pure situations.
Snap on 3/8 hard handle long flex head . I personally dont like any soft handle but i aint wrenching all day so can see why some folks love em. The Vim large handle is my second choice.
my matco flex head long 3/8 comfort grip ratchet and matco long 1/2 comfort grip ratchet are definitely my most used ratchets. im still starting out so i only have 5 in total the others being a snap on 1/4 hard handle flex head ratchet, an icon 3/8 short comfort grip ratchet and a short snap on 1/2 in hard handle ratchet
I’ve tried most brands, I own snap on, Matco, Mac, cornwell, sk, craftsman USA, harbor freight and various cheap brands. I like the ratcheting mechanism from snap on but the locking mechanism from Matco. As far as handles I like the hard plastic. However I love using the basic sk roundhead for my 1/4” ratchet.
The snap on indexing ratchetts are amazing. I prefer snap on personally... the 1/4 bodys with 3/8 gear is game changing.
Hard handle for me easier to clean then comfort grip and i do own both.
I like to work on race cars as well as a DIY guy and I just got my first ratchet set. I decided on Snap-On Roto Ratchets with the Teal Hard Handles. Big fan of Snap-On here as well, and I love how the hard handle feels. Got the 1/4" Hex Bit (THNFDM72), 1/4 (THNFD72), 3/8 Compact (FHCNFD72), and the big 100 tooth 3/8 (FHNFD100). Wished they had a 1/2 as well, but I can just use an adapter. You're absolutely right, everyone has their own preferences, hate to hear you don't like them, but I completely understand and respect your preferences. 👍 I just like that I can use them at odd angles and they're quite versatile for me personally. I was considering the flex heads, but I felt they were just a little too long for me personally. I can just use an extension if I need a longer reach, or a ratcheting wrench if I'm in a really tight spot. It's all about personal preference 👍
Snap on original 1/4 3/8 &1/2 & snap on 3/4 knurled. 3/8 snap on black hard handle short flex for spark plugs the early craftsman flat handle was my go to for years 👍😎👍
I have a older round swivel head snap on, I would love to get one of the newer 100 tooth ones to compare to my older 49 tooth.
Personally snap on is my favorite I have bought other ratchets and used them but always revert back to snap on. Hate the locking flex head i personally love the snap on hard handle flex head and the solid handle snap on no flex
I like to collect Snap on hard handle rackets for all the different colors
I'd love to see a ratchet that has the vim style handle that was entirely hard plastic and a unlockable flex head that doesn't index. Quick release is nice but it's not worth sacrificing the profile of the head.
Hi from BC Canada! That shirt is awesome went to the website to get one that design wasn't listed such a shame! As far as ratchet handles go I've been a motorcycle and then aircraft mechanic for about 15 years, and for me personally I've never even owned a comfort grip ratchet. For what I'm working on mostly 1/4" drive some 3/8" you need maximum control precision and access and for this reason only have hard handled ratchets. My favorites are my Armstrong USA 1/4" its so smooth and balanced its like a piece of jewelry unfortunately you cant get them any more. 2nd favorite is actually my 72T Gearwrench I cant believe I'm saying that because I always go for made in USA or Canada first mine is about 10 years old made in Taiwan i'm pretty sure the quality was way better a few years ago for gearwrench. I also have a stubby made in Canada Snap on from the 1960s its got something like 36 teeth lol but its smooth and balanced i use it quite frequently, even got the selector switch repaired under warranty a few years ago amazing! Recently picked up the gold plated 3/8dr icon ratchet with a coupon for $39.99 got it home and displayed it for about a week then figured f this its not actually special im going to use it lol......i was soooooooo disappointed when i started to use it the teeth were grinding and making these horrific noises brand new out of the box i was expecting fake snap on and this thing is worse than tool shop house brand stuff. Im sure i just got a bad one hopefully they exchange it next time i go to the States. But it sure does look and feel awesome i have to admit the marketing and copy design got inside my head, sorry lol. Husky 144 tooth is my go to. I like the gear wrench 120xp as well but when you've got two husky 144 tooth and a husky 144 tooth extended handle it's hard to justify a new ratchet purchase. Also they're black 100 tooth I have an half inch drive and it works well all the husky ratchets I have have slimmer heads than most others I've used. I've stood on them at 6 ft and 335 lb and the only thing that broke was the bolt I was trying to get loose. Huskies quarter drive 144 tooth ratchets are pretty sweet as well. I took some heat shrink tubing and put it on the end of the handle not only does it provide better grip but also you're not grabbing a cold ratchet handle in the middle of winter.
Snap on/swivel head/comfort grip. If I'm using it all day every day it needs to feel extremely comfortable in my hand. The swivel head gives you so much versatility and with the 3/8 mid size you get 100 tooth
My go to ratchet is the roundhead 100 tooth Snap-on. You can break something loose and switch it straight to work like a speeder wrench or a screw driver. I own at the big 3 but Snap-on is my preference with the comfort grips.
I love the nickel or black chrome Matco
I’ve owned 4 3/8 and 1/4 snap on dual 80s one flex one standard for as long as I’ve been a tech picked up a Mac 3/8th a couple years back for cheap love it as well, I wanna pick up a Koken but just haven’t found any for a decent deal to pull the trigger. I’ve used most took truck brands and harbor freight ones too. I just got the snap on ones for a steal and the only truck that really comes by most of the time.
I too am a ratchet addict.
An 11” 3/8” drive Gearwrench 90 tooth compact head with quick release. It doesn’t exist. But their compact head 90t is tough to beat all the way around. They don’t even make a non QR version of the compact head. And standard metal handle. Though Proto’s 90t handle is pretty nice too.
The worst is Craftsman’s 72 long handle 3/8”. The shape is reminiscent of Capt Caveman’s club, the head is thick AF, and the you could nearly pull a truck with the back drag.
Koken is my favorite feel and size especially the real little 3/8 in a 1/4 body non flex. Love the matco black and the handle colors as well as the locking flex when you get one that works well, the little 7-3/4 locking flex with the 3/8 in 1/4 body is my go to for most things. Ascetically I like the look of snap on especially the compact ratchets and the new all one color soft grip handles and I love snap on hard handles but I dont see myself using them as much as some others mostly because I dont care for the locking design as much, I like the newer lock design on my long 3/8 snap on, dont think it has as much play and wobble as the matco but im not as big of a fan of the design
I’m definitely a ratchet addict, and I don’t know that I could ever pick just one, but I do prefer comfort grip locking flex heads. One of my overall favorites is my Stahlwille comfort grip locking flex head.
Being a road tech and occasionally a shop tech my work horse ratchets are
Road:
Tekton 1/4 fixed head
Gearwrench 3/8 locking flex head
Armstrong 1/2 fixed head
For the shop definitely
All snap on no doubt about it. Just love the quality fit and finish of them
I think the best ratchet is the snap on with just the crime handle I think the teeth count just feels the best and the handle is the most comfortable but I also really like the look of that matco ratchets with comfort grip
I'm a Big Truck dirty diesel guy so I mostly use hard handles except for my breaker bar. They are just so easy to clean. As for flex heads etc I have a healthy mix of everything sometimes I like a locking flex for putting big filter bands on the end and not having it flip down and fall off onto my face and sometimes a fixed is just what I need. But I almost always use locking extensions when able just to keep from losing sockets in deep places.
Koken is my favorite ratchet for light duty, tight access work.
Snap On comfort grip long handle locking flex head for suspension, drive train and brake work. When you need the leverage it delivers.
If Koken had a handle like my SnapOn It would be my absolute go to ratchet. I believe the silky smooth 72 tooth heads wouldn’t hold up to the stress of a much longer handle. 280 mm is the longest version in a 36 tooth they offer in 3/8”.
If they did offer a longer length that nubby handle just isn’t comfortable mashing into the palm all day.
I can get most everything done with my 3/8 extended comfort grip, flex head, harbor freight. Easy warranty. Good mechanism, low back drag.
I prefer comfort grip personally due to when really getting after it they feel better in my hand. I've always liked the Snapon ratchets as they felt the best for me. I think I have only ever had to have one warrantied in over 20 years of wrenching. I do have several gear wrench and Icons and those also do the job just fine and feel good. Over the years they have all came a long ways and no matter what route you go they will get the job done.
I have all Snap-On chrome ratchets (no comfort grip or hard plastic handle) except for one Snap-On long handle flex head comfort grip 1/2 drive ratchet. Only comfort grip ratchet I own cause when I purchased that 1/2 drive comfort grip it was the only ratchet my dealer had on the truck when I needed that style to purchase right away for a job I was doing at the time.
So, I’m old school and only want the Snap-On chrome ratchets.
For thin heads I really like the GearWrench 90 tooth series ratchets and for small with high tooth count GearWrench 120xp new style ratchets because the older style 120xp were wider and thicker. The ORIGINAL Rot-Ratchet was invented by SK a really long time ago and everybody copied them but I still have them but really don't use it anymore.
For me it's application specific, ya know, I'm doing so many different things with cars away from my day job at the race shop so I have multiple tool sets with multiple different style rachets. For me my current favorites are the gearwrench and Marco locking flex head, that goes for the standard non flex also, mainly because they have a smaller head and can allow me to get into the area next to a racing seat easier than a thicker rachet. Now if I'm just out tinkering with my personal stuff it just depends on what's available in my tool set in the garage I haven't made the flip to comfort grip yet in my at home tools, 1/4 it's a little different for me it depends on what I'm doing interior wise some of the Allen fasters don't require a lot of torque and some do. I've got 2 standard head, 2 locking flex head and non locking flex head in all 3 drive sizes for work.
15" 3/8 locking flex "new style" snap on comfort grip is the best ratchet I have ever used
I like locking flex head with the comfort grip. I have the icon no locking ratchets and I like them better than my old craftsman ratchets. I’m planning on getting some Matco locking flex head ratchets from Patric Marlow of course they have to be blue.
Love my Matco comfort grip like my snap on hard handle haven't picked up a snappy comfort grip probably won't really like the Matco.
Matco handles for sure.i like snap on dual 80 for a head.the more teeth engaged, the better…locking and free flex head depending on the task.i have the same snap on that you despise.i also had that feeling, but at times it’s convenient that the ratchet head can be parallel with the handle.so i dont regret buying it,but its not used much,but it is super convenient at times.i have many different mac,matco and snap on ratchets.they are all different and work great for different applications.
I'm a big fan of Matco comfort grip in 3/8 and 1/4, but for 1/2 it's all about snap on comfort grip. But I've also come to find I really like the snap on plastic hard handles for jobs that are gonna be messy. They clean easier but give you lots of surface for grip. And I think head design makes certain ratchets better for certain jobs. If it's in a small space I go matco, if it's wide open I might choose snap on. I'm also a ratchet addict, and find uses for ratchets I buy for no other reason than just wanting another ratchet.
Im old school.... Snap On hard handle..... the all metal ones...... to each their own....

I prefer comfort grip all day long but I have two chrome handle ratchets as I work maintenance in a food processing plant and 1 department does not allow comfort grips. Snap on has been my go to since I was a little kid using my fathers tools but I really enjoy my Matco locking flex as well

When im offshore i only carry my Snap-on 3/8 long handle flex head comfort grip and Snap-on 1/4 short handle flex head. If i had the storage and the extra money i would like to try matco one but i trust and like my snap-on on the job so it hard to spend the money on something new when i have something i already really like
My favorite is a locking flex head 3/8 with a longer handle but the one I use every single day is a Carlyle 3/8 long handle comfort grip with a 1/2” 8 point Williams socket it is my go to and I use it 10 times a day 5 days a week and have only had to warranty it once in the 3 years I have had it I wish I could try out the matco 3/8 but don’t have a dealer or the money lol because just looking at the line up you have I think that would be my choice
I have both type grips and prefer the comfort grip style. Craftsman USA and Gearwrench.

Favorite ratchet - 3/8 snap on flex head non locking with the OLD STYLE comfort grip. The grip that isn’t huge. I found the new grip is just too large when in tight spaces.
1/4 I like the snap on flex head with the comfort grip and the stubby koken flex head.
1/2 - I really haven’t ever found a 1/2 ratchet that I love, but I suspect if I bought one I’d like the fixed head long comfort grip snap on. I have the flex head and honestly it’s a little unwieldy at times.
Dont have anymore but wouldve been my 3/8" flexhead Snap On with green hard handle. But now it would be my Koken 3/8" long Z series flexhead.
Tooth count: to me 90 is the most I'll consider. 72 is enough in all reality.
Handle: depends, For short 1/4" I prefer no comfort grip, For longer ratchets, especially 3/8" or larger, I like comfort grip. And I like the Mac and Matco comfort grips the best but the Snapon hard handle is close
For heads: the lower profile, the better for me. And I like locking flex heads in a lot of situations.
Finish: Chrome is tried and true and that's all I have.

I'd really like to have some wood grip ratchets. i have the gearwrench set 120 xp. The heads are too bulky. Ive learned during my ratchet journey that the tiny slim ones work best for me
Mac Axis long 1/4 3/8 and 1/2 with Snap On Hard Handles would be my perfect ratchet. I personally like the feel of the Mac ratchet heads more than any other tool truck ratchet. I have heard lots of positive things about Koken but have no personally held one in my hands.
I don't have any satin chrome finish ratchets but I'm thinking about getting some ratchets satin finish. I haven't used koken or vim but leaning towards vim and more vim tools because seen good reviews and do like the foam trays that you can just put in a tool drawer and looks good. Which function is first.

I’m not a huge fan of comfort grips but I do like the Matco and mac comfort grips. Not as much so with the snap on soft grip except the 1/4” ratchets. The comfort grips on 3/8 and 1/2 were way to big and uncomfortable for me.
I know a lot of people didn’t like snap ons old locking flex head mechanism. I didn’t mind it as much. I’ve never had a situation where I was in such tight clearances that I was bumping the lock mechanism into something that would cause it to unlock. But I do like the Matco locking version better. I would like to try the Mac push button style locking flex head one day. I only have one snap on locking flex head ratchet though. I have regular flex head ratchets that I just keep the joint a little snugger on and that works great.
I really like quick release anvils on 1/4” ratchets. The smaller sockets are a pain to get off of a standard anvil when they’re greasy. It’s not as hard for me to pull sockets off 3/8 and 1/2 ratchets so I go non quick release there.
My Proto with knurled bands is my favorite so far. Never owned a comfort grip yet either though
I have the same ratchet with knurled bands and I love it. I wish they made a quick release version. My second favorite is my snap on's
had a snap on 3/8 comfort grip a long while back until i snapped the handle in half . never bought a comfort grip again . mechanic for 20 years , daily use is a 3/8 flex head standard snap on handle .
I have a ton of ratchets… it depends on what I feel like using at any given time, really. Plus some other brands of the “same” ratchet will be better for different applications.
My most commonly used ratchets are my Gearwrench locking 1/4” flex head, Icon long handle flex head 3/8”, and Mac or Icon standard fixed head 3/8”. All comfort grip.
