Awesome guitar skills & review by Jarvis! Only got to watch this review yesterday. But was glad that I already bought my Martin Dreadnought Junior 2 (Sepele top) early Oct 2017 at 20% discount, which was a "steal", as it is one of the best all solid wood guitar for below S$1,000.

I spent a good 2 hours alternating between this and the spruce top over at the music store yesterday. Both came close, loved the warm tone of the Sepele, but the lack in detail worried me a little. In the end I went for the Spruce as it sounded more detailed - and that I could tame the brightness down with pins and saddle if I wished to. Now after watching your video... im not too sure I made the right choice.
This video may have just made a sale for martin- great playing - luscious sound - now if i can find one in lefthanded

Another great review Jarvis from Singapore! I have to agree with a few below that I preferred the spruce topped model for it's volume and complexity of the notes. I also felt the spruce top model resonated with more overtones than the sapele model. They both sounded great but the spruce for me will be more versatile. BTW....I'm still amazed at this guitar for its comfort, volume, tone and quality....so fun to play and it records very very well! Thanks Jarvis!

Amazing demo! Congrats! Is it me, or does the E string sound tuned when you play the G, but not tuned when you play the E? Are there tuning issues in that particular string along the scale (different frets have slight tuning differences in that same string)?

You have to decide what you like ...Martin the tone will aged and improved over time.,...GS MIni will probably sound the same with little improvement even after a few years
Hi, just want to enquire which of these two wood options are less prone to bloating from singapore’s climate?
I have the Martin Dred Jr. with spruce top & love it. Thinking I need to get this model also. :-) Both sound so good....different....but good. Does this model also have built in pick up? Like having that option of using an amp. Look forward to seeing your reviews. You do a great job.

I realize I’m commenting on a super old comment, but I found this video in search of a travel guitar to supplement my 000-18. It seems Martin reserves Koa (even “pressed layers” which is essentially laminate) for their higher end models. The least expensive Koa I’ve seen is the 000-12e Koa, and even that’s pressed Koa. Meanwhile, it costs the same as the 000-13 with an identical top and specs, but with mahogany sides and back. So I highly doubt we’ll see a DJr in Koa anytime soon. Unfortunately.

That's a very personal question that I don't like to answer !!!! Lol!! I prefer the open wider tone of the spruce TOP and I'm sure over time once the Sapele opens up it will sound pretty good but different from the Sitka spruce TOP
