- If you don't enjoy (regular) Dreadnought acoustic guitars all that much, the Martin Dreadnought Junior might be for you. Or maybe you're just looking for a smaller, travel friendly acoustic.
In this demo and review video, Lukas & Martin take a closer look at the Martin DJr-10E StreetMaster. The StreetMaster finish features a worn-in satin feel. If that's not your thing, there is also a regular DJr-10E in natural finish.

I’ve had my jr since they first came out I did a low setup on it added a Tusq nut and bridge pins. The sound keeps getting better the more I play it. It stays in perfect tune and action has never moved. I always get compliments people usually say I wish I could afford one of those Martins but can’t justify 4 grand. When I tell them it’s around 600 bucks there floored.
That's really cool. Thank for sharing your experiences with the Dreadnought Jr! Cheers, Lukas
Not a bad looking guitar guys! Good demo and sound samples. Thanks for the review!
Thanks a lot for watching Ferd, glad you liked the review! Cheers Lukas
Thanks for showing it next to the other sized guitars! Helps me get an idea of the true size.
Hi there! Thanks for the comment and your feedback, I'm glad the comparison helped! Cheers, Lukas
Great review guy,s I like the satin finish and sounds awesome,Cheers!
Thank you so much blkjckgtr! Cheers Lukas
Very nice review.
Thank you very much! We appreciate the kind words. Cheers, Lukas
Great playing! You bring out the best in each song. Love the guitar. (I’m a Martin fan)
Thank you so much, Debbie! Cheers, Lukas
You’re welcome, Lukas! 😀
Sorry I missed it live again... working gets in the way of the funning ... lol .. watching now during lunch! 😎🎸🤘🐦
No worries buddy! Hope you enjoy it. Cheers, Lukas
Sounds really full and balanced.
I agree! Thanks for the comment, Seth! Cheers, Lukas
BOXY Sound, I like that Term. Daughter just bought a $200 guitar for a 9 yr old, on Amazon. I would have to say Boxy is exactly how it sounded! Going with a lil martin for her, and will upgrade as needed.
First the little Martin, then the Junior and eventually a full size ;)
Cheers!
Good video, I would like a pickup sound test too!
Thank your comment and the feedback. You're right, we omitted the piezo tones in the video. We will take that into account for the any upcoming acoustic guitar videos! Cheers, Lukas
Taylor GSMini didn't do it for me either. Bought a Martin Dred Jr. love it. Takes a 9volt battery that last longer then the coin type battery in the GSMini. The coin type battery don't last at all. That alone was the reason to get Martin. Plus I really like the sound of Martin over Taylor. Taylor is a great guitar....just not for me.
Hey there. Thanks for your comment. Do you have the same version of the Dreadnought Junior I have or the first run with the thicker body? Cheers, Lukas
@@LMGuitarCorner The original Dred Jr. with thicker body.
I looking for my first Martin guitar! Is it better to begin with this Junior or D10e or more expensive Martin 1500-2000$? I have only dreadnought at this moment.
Hey there! If you like full size Dreadnoughts and are not looking for a travel guitar, I personally think you should look for a different model than the Junior. Martin has a variety of regular Dreadnoughts at different price points (made in Mexico and Made in USA). Eventually, it depends on your budget. If you want to check out a 000 Body size, you might want to watch our videos about Martin's 000-28EC Eric Clapton Signature. If you have any further questions, just let me know. Cheers, Lukas
I won’t $4000 guitar like you suggest. 1500-2000 USD is my maximum budget. I want to try also, other size guitar as Junior street master.Tanks.
Yeah $4k is definitely a lot of money. For your budget I'm sure you'll find a great guitar, either a Dreadnought or a different body shape. There are more affordable 000s too, of course. Cheers
lower sustain than the gsmini..but great for single notes.
I couldn't try my Dr Jr next to a GS Mini so I can neither agree nor disagree in terms of sustain. Did you have the chance to compare them directly? Cheers, Lukas
Funny, I have both a GS Mini and a D-Jr 10 and use Martin's Retro strings on both. The sustain is superior on the D-Jr. To my ears, the Martin is just a better-sounding guitar--fuller, deeper, richer. Can't take my hands off it.
@@anneberkeley7411 Thanks for sharing your experiences with both guitars, Anne!
Was that Drive by Incubus? bit of a throwback! haha
Indeed it was! I really like this song and the riff works great for demos, imho. Cheers, Lukas
Through back🤔
