33 year old mum of 3, business owner and self taught harpist since 2020. Learned to read sheet music and I'm now a late intermediate harpist with a strong desire to play the cello. I get tears thinking of playing it! So glad to have found you❤❤❤ do you offer online courses?

Great video, as always. It’s so important for all artists to do the Overcoming Ups and Downs in Life course so they can minimize illness. Injury, depression, anxiety…and just flourish

@3:04 Oh my goodness! I can't believe it ... the whole time I felt like an "idiot" because I would get confused and forget WHERE my bow was supposed to be when I lost my place on the music sheet. I wondered, "HOW do cellists KNOW where their bow is supposed to be without music markings??" Then I thought, "Screw it! I'm marking every bow placement on every note!" I'm not there yet with the fingerings🤦🏻‍♀️, but WOW! This is so encouraging, thanks Carolyn!☺️ And since I have what I call "birdie ankles" that support my tall frame I have suffered many sprains 😖...I'm glad you're back! 🥹♥️

I'm going to recommend this video to a student on Monday because you explained this idea so much coherently than I've done to date. I'm a lifelong player, but I've never taught cello before and I'm constantly realizing that I've taken for granted some aspect of cello playing that I now need to think about carefully so that I can teach it properly.

Welcome back, lovely lady! So glad you are back and recovering.
What you are saying here actually happened to me a few months back. I joyfully and comfortably practiced a set of beautiful melodic pieces for a wedding. I was the ONLY music for this wedding. I went into it with a good deal of confidence, but while I was trying to play my set I literally froze up and could not control my bow. To me it was embarrassingly horrible, but the people later said they loved it. Weird!

Hi Wayne! I bet you played it well. We often think or performances are much worse than they actually are. A solo wedding gig?! Good for you - that isn't easy! Keep up the good work. :)

Because I love cello, but don't know a whole lot about it as a new player I would not have heard or perceived any "flubs." 🤷🏻‍♀️
I guess ignorance can be bliss.😉😂
I'm sure you played beautifully, and in my opinion you're a true professional, because you overcame the mishap -- you didn't quit - you kept playing and no one was the wiser. Bravo!♥️

My goodness ur cello is so crunchy....grt tips too. I do find the physicality difficult, was shocked in a video of myself how my posture had slumped, it was a shock.

I hope "crunchy" is good! 😆 Yes, videos of ourselves playing always tell us the truth. It's good to record often.
