- Warming up hands and fingers is an essential part of the pre-practice routine. These exercises are tried and true and will help you avoid fatigue when practicing. For more info on learning how to play the cello, check out cellodiscovery.com

Can’t tell you how helpful this is. Like hand yoga.
Thank you. :) Great way to describe it!
Great advise. I would add to do this stretching after practice also. The “cool” down is just as important too.
Another pro “tip”. Do the dishes to warm up the hands. Clean hands and clean sink.
Thanks so much Carolyn. As a lifetime pro photographer my poor fingers do struggle...but I warm them up and Im off....These excercises are really good. Thank you.
Hey now! Good stuff Carolyn. : )
Hi Charles!
Thanks! Great video
I stretched right along with you, and, wow! Even gently stretching to the point of slight resistance made a huge difference! My hands are notoriously frigid thanks to my thyroid, so I'm very familiar with all of those efforts to warm them up.😂 Thanks Carolyn.❤️
Thanks, Bereangirl! So happy you found them helpful! I do them nearly every day.
Carolyn, these are great! Thanks for sharing. By the way, in regard to your previous posting regarding playing on the right size cello: I've switched from a full-size Jay Haide L'ancienne (Ruggieri model) to a 3/4 Statue Model (Montagnana) by the same builder. It's wonderful, and I'm so happy that someone is actually building a 3/4 instrument that is not merely transitional! Best wishes!
Thanks you, Douglas and how very exciting about your cello! Delighted to hear you found a smaller cello that you love. You'll find playing the cello is much easier for you now. :)
Thank you so much, helped me a lot ❤
Glad to hear. :)
