    When you do a universal overhead (6M), that is NOT considered an aerial attack. 2H will NOT counter it. The game considers 6M to be a "grounded" attack.

      Jelly Boy the numbers are a reference to your number pad (direction) so 4 would be left. 6 would be forward. 8 would be jump. 2 would be down and 5 would be neutral. Just a basic coverage over it.
      So 6m would stand for forward medium

    • @Ulysses626
      @Ulysses626 Pƙed 6 lety +2

      Depends on your positioning, that’s something that will take some time in practice mode if you want to master it. For the most part, if you’re close to the ground you can catch your opponent just before they hit the ground with a D.medium, but if they’re further up in the air you will probably have to jump into a standard aerial combo, and high up in the air, like if you vanished after a D.heavy, well, that depends on what character you’re using.

    Maybe talk about general Neutral play. Talking about how to do effective Block strings and Frame Trapping the opponent in order to mix them up. Using the vanish attack effectively to trap the opponent and such is also a good mention. Also, making good use of movement is essential and blocking and Z reflecting for optimal defense. Neutral play could be a video in itself.

    This helped because I've watched a lot of videos, but didn't know how to start some combos without the low medium. Now I see you have to open them up first with any attack (although overheads from the ground are character specific I hear), and then launch them. Spent too much time always trying for the low medium.Thanks for this video tying the knot for me.

    Not just blocking, but I'd also love to see a video on overall defense, when to deflect, when to guard-cancel change or whatever it was called (because as I've experienced and have heard confirmed from Maximillian Dood, the other character coming in can get beaten out by something as weak as a jab, so that feels like a waste of bar to me). Also I'd like to see a proper way to stagger normal moves to keep the enemy in blockstun and keep them from mashing the button to get a free combo.

    Hey Globku 😬 just a recent subscriber but loving the content and the effort of growing the communities skill in Fighterz â˜ș
    I would love to learn more about neutral as I'm new to fighting games. I understand that neutral play is hard to grasp because it is different in many circumstances with (connection and different play styles/ characters) but I'm looking forward to your coverage on it :) if you do ❀ cheers for amazing content :) :)

    • @z-rossi3672
      @z-rossi3672 Pƙed 6 lety +1

      Just some tips that apply to every fighting game that might help!: Neutral as you may know is when both characters have no inputs on the screen and they are both on the ground, so its the old west standoff cliche!
      -When in neutral the first goal is #1. move into attacking range, obviously you cant do anything unless you are in range to use your attacks, in games like super smash bros you can imagine bubbles around your character of their attack distance at anytime, in 2d fighters like this its more move specific ranges (like kid buus medium vs his down heavy), so neutral becomes a game of reading what your opponent will do while moving into range to do your moves.
      -So what should I do? (firstoff) DONT HOMING DASH, I know its tempting, I know it works occasionally, but unless you are A very close, or B mixing up what side you are on, it can be punished very easily, and because of that should be used as a mix up option, not a way to get out of neutral
      -move in cautiously, use double forward (or forward plus homing dash) to do that air dash forward to quickly close distance (or bait them in by dashing backwards for a punish when they throw out an attack)
      -Now that you are in attacking range or attempting to punish whats important is knowing your characters moves, and using assists to cover up weak spots. This is known as pressuring, its when you force your opponent to guard your attacks, putting him in 'block/shield stun' meaning he is unable to use a move against you, and you try to open up his guard doing lows and overheads, or by using a dragon rush or command grab (some characters can mix up what side they are on and that gives even more options)
      -It's at this point you go down the frame data rabbit hole where every move has a set amount of activation time, active hit box time, and time before they can perform another move
      Ranting cause Im bored, but hope it helps

      Oussama Darkaoui tbh, my first fighting game was mortal kombat 10 and i got pretty good at it in a couple if weeks, for this game, i became pretty good after about a week so really you just have to spend alot of time in training practicing different combos and different things you can put together. Also, watching people play when you finally understand how the game works, will help you tons aswell cause you’ll see what they do in certain situations and you can apply it to your playstyle

    • @Ilovevidgames123
      @Ilovevidgames123 Pƙed 6 lety +1

      It will take a bit of time, but that's natural, because what you're trying to do is way harder than the vast majority of single-player games and requires a lot of practice, seeking out and understanding new information and letting that new information inform your gameplay, etc.
      Don't fall into the trap of only practicing combos. You need to focus on other stuff, too, like developing good mix-ups and understanding neutral and stuff like that.

Like, how to even understand the game enough to know when to shoot a ki blast in some situations for extensions or any other moves that aren't conventional moves to combo with. Pretty much, how to create combos instead of copying x).

    YAASS! Personally I would like for a video about vanish+wall bounce combo extension. Idk but for me is so damn hard to do it, too late and your low medium hits nothing because the enemy is recovering from the ground, too soon and it hits the air.

    Great video, Globku. I have a suggestion: Make sure to go over exactly what a cancel is and how frames work. For the longest time I didn't know what a "cancel" was and how fundamental that knowledge is when learning a fighting game. It might seem advanced but I think it's something people need know right away so they know how they're doing what they're doing. It's the difference between knowing how to boil an egg vs. knowing *how* an egg boils, if that makes sense.

      @TGNAnime  Pƙed 6 lety

      That makes sense. But I did explain what a jump cancel is for instance. "You cancel the attack animation into a jump". So taking that, canceling a special into a super is pretty self explanatory. I don't know, I feel like I talked about it during this video

    Now look at that. For years I wanted to learn DBFZ. Greatest fighter game in my opinion. I paid mad money for the ultimate edition and then played it like 3 times. A simple fucking "Natural progression L>M>H" NEVER EVER anyone mentioned in their fucking guides. That is already SO damn helpful.
    This entire video already helped me more than the other 20 videos I'ver watched over the years.

    I got to about SS in ranked with auto-combos, didn't have any clue about manual combos until I started getting my ass kicked by combos I didn't know how to do (also I don't have a lot of time in arcade fighters like this). I'm playing on xb1 and the controller I had at the time when I bought the game the up on my dpad was pretty broken, wouldn't register on like 70% of my presses. So my 55 hours that I have in FighterZ are using the joystick, been practicing with the dpad and the problem I'm having is a little weird. I can do jump cancels decently well with the dpad and I can pull off instant air dashs but I have serious problems doing any of the "quarter circle" moves, while with the joystick I can't do jump cancels very well and my dashes are much slower but I can nail abilities during auto combos no problem. Oh almost forgot to mention I have gotten a new controller with a fully functional dpad.
    Basically I'm trying to figure out if I should switch to dpad permanently and learn it, or stick with the joystick and practice the manual combos which is also much more comfortable on my hand since the dpad on xb1 seems uncomfortable for me to use for any extended amount of time. As I am right now I'm doing some weird hybrid of starting manual combos with the dpad and switching to joystick at the point I'm going to finish with a super of some sort but it seems too slow

    Hey TGN Dunno if you already spoke on this but I am a pretty decent player on Steam and I wanted you to talk about the importance of reflect. There are so many times where I have someone in the corner and they can escape the pressure via reflect but they will choke and just wait til I mess up which isn't the way to go. Also the importance of 5H, after a reflect, a pretty sizeable chunk of the roster can punish button mashers after a reflect with 5H if they don't have a stubby 5H, that is.

    I do have a question (kinda newbie here) If you break neutral with anything but a launcher, is it more optimal to do ground jump cancel -> air hits -> launcher -> rush -> air hits -> second launcher -> jump cancel -> finisher over jump cancelling and hitting again before first launcher? Maybe special attacks follow ups are different depending on chars as first string goes higher (and cannot land and special if you don't have an aerial one)? Thanks btw nice video!

    Hey Globku, not sure if you know this (haven't got to watch the full video yet so i'm not sure if you know this). But Tien has a specific continuation to that basic combo, it goes like this:
    2M, 5M, jL, M 2H (Launcher), H+S, L, M, 2H, jL, L, 2H, Volleyball Fist M
    So instead of ending it with an H, you can get a bit more damage by doing another aerial 2H and cancelling it into Medium Volleyball Fist, and you still get the hard knockdown.

      Its really a difficult thing to make a video on really. He can point out different buttons that are being pressed, but the situations should provide some kind of learning on their own.
      For instance, i learn blockstrings with watching videos. Which moves are best to use and what order and when to fake out and such.

    • @TGNAnime
      @TGNAnime  Pƙed 6 lety +3

      If you watch someone who is WAY BETTER than you, you won't learn a lot because you don't understand what's happening. Ideally you watch players who are slightly better, and improve yourself that way. You'll understand what's happening in videos as you get better, no need for me to make a video on it :)
