- Whether on a picnic, camping trip, or on a multi-day backpacking trip, you can bake homemade bread. All you need are a few simple ingredients and a heat source. A wonderful family activity, too! Allow each person a personalized flour mix zip-top bag with their favorite mix-ins. Add water, knead in the bag, and divide the dough into 2-3 rolls. Skewer rolls onto a stick and bake the dough over a campfire like roasting a marshmallow! What could be more fun! Check out this Aboriginal Bush Bread recipe.

Thank you!
This is what ive been looking for.
Thanks! I appreciate you letting me know. Happy camping & baking!
@@SummerBakestheWorldchecking in. My first batch I used way to much water, and mixing in flower was kinda a pain so I started over.
2nd batch I had the stove (jetboil stash) so low 7min in with zero cooking.
@@SummerBakestheWorld ok first of the 2nd batch I now burned it as I was writing that last comment. 😅.
Question; its looking like the bread is not puffing and quite dence... What do I do?
@@SummerBakestheWorld update: I burnt the second biscuit in the batch and it was still doughy on the inside. I'm working on the third biscuit and it is seeming to be the same story.
I have my stove so low that it the flame keeps on going out. I don't think the jet boil stash will work for this... I do want to try it in a rice maker I think the low and slow is the key.
@@ClimbingEasy Ok, I just read all of your messages up to this point. Let's see if we can figure this out. This biscuit is dense since there aren't many ingredients. You might consider these.
- It could be the stove. So, I use a generic jetboil fuel tank with a "cheap" set of pots on top. I believe you may have a much faster cooking system. If so, can you add more space between the stove and the pot? Maybe treat it like a double boiler?
Other thoughts...
-Ensure you have your pot covered to keep the heat in the pot.
-Consider flattening the dough so there's less mass to bake.
-The dough shouldn't be too sticky, if so it's too wet and may not bake through.
Pretty cool, I like how you are calmer in this video, being yourself 😉
Thanks for the support.
I love how you mentioned LNT! That is always my biggest conflict when backcountry cooking. I can easily get by without it but not everyone knows how. Awesome video!
Thanks! Agreed! It's so easy to comply, too with a little planning. I find it to be mostly common sense, but experience and education really helps. To think... if we all did our part. 😉 Thanks for commenting and acknowledging the content. Much appreciated!!
That bread looks tasty. I may try it. I've read that a fully enclosed wind guard like yours for that stove can be very dangerous.
Thanks! It's very much like a simple biscuit. Thanks for the tip. The wind guard has worked for me in very windy conditions, but don't rely on me for fire safety. 😊
@@SummerBakestheWorld The canister can get so hot that it will explode. Maybe have a 1/4 opening away from the wind, but it's your call.
@@philbertoneriver5923 Thanks Philbert. I understand what you're saying. That's a good suggestion. I appreciate it.
Interesting. However, to be honest, this video could have been 1/10th in length...
