  • McDonald’s introduced breakfast to the fast food world back in the early 1970s, and soon the competitors were churning out their own unique options to compete with the Egg McMuffin. Burger King has always been hot on the heels of McDonald’s, but their breakfast sales have consistently fallen behind. Regardless, there are plenty of people who love to start their day with an Egg and Cheese Croissan’wich, and BK has added more and more choices to their menu over the years, including some vegan options. Let’s take a look at what you need to know before eating Burger King’s breakfast.

For me they're (the sausage egg and cheese croissanwhich) isn't bad but it takes 3rd place behind McDonald's Sausage McMuffin with Egg and Jack in the Box's Sausage Croissant, both of which I really like.
If BK used a real freshly-cracked egg as JIB does now THAT would make it a contest! I have an aversion to pre-cracked/premixed/powdered (i.e. unfresh) eggs and wish BK and Carl's Jr. would start using freshly-cracked UNscrambled eggs as McDonald's (ALWAYS lots of cars at the drive-thru in the morning) and JIB do.The only reason I patronize BK is because they have good coupons.

Another thing about burger king's breakfast sandwiches. Dipite the fact that some of their breakfast commercials of the past shows eggs being broken and made for breakfast sandwiches, in reality, 100 percent freshly broken eggs are not broken and cooked fresh. They are some kind of what ever it is, imported and cooked, placed on your sandwich. Added to them are chemicals and watervalong with colorings to make it look like real eggs. It's a shame that everything in life is a deception and you are always under the belief that everything you get in the fastfood industry is 100 percent "fresh." If you really want a fresh breakfast sandwich made with real freshly broken eggs, make it at home. This way you know for a fact that what you are eating is absolutely, fresh.....

@@hayesman76 The round eggs used for the Mcmuffin sandwiches are cracked fresh daily to order in the restaurant. The folded eggs used for the biscuit/Mcgriddle sandwiches (which used to be cracked fresh (back when I worked there in the early 90's)) are now made off site in a production facility (with bagged beaten eggs and fillers) and are warmed to order in the restaurant. I probably cracked 10,000 eggs in my tenure at Mcd's. You wouldn't believe the condition of the blender for the folded eggs after a morning shift back when I worked there. We did our best to make sure there were no egg shells; however, I am sure many customers ate a few little pieces of blended egg shells. Mcd's probably started doing the folded eggs off site to maintain quality and it gives them the ability to add fillers to stretch costs.

I recently did try McDonald's (new?) breakfast chicken biscuit sandwich out of curiosity and it was awful, just amazingly dry. I couldn't believe they released that item in its present configuration. I'm pretty sure the company must be receiving lots of negative feedback about them from customers because the sandwich desperately needs some cheese and/or some kind of sauce etc. to moisten it up, eating the two I ordered was like eating a cardboard sandwich. Also, due to the dryness of the chicken patty used an English Muffin instead of a dry biscuit.

Worked at BK in early 90s. The only thing BK could use in breakfast was their fryers and microwave. The french toast sticks, hashbrowns, sausage were all deep fried. Eggs were made in a very odd way, you had these bins that fit over the fryers and the oil in the fryer heated the pan. Squirt butter in, then dump egg mixture in and wait for it to cook. Then slice it into eighths and fold them over for eight eggs. Took a long time and a lot of skill.
The buns had to be toasted with a special unit since croissants and bagels could get crushed in the lunch sandwich toasters. (Buns for chicken sandwiches and burgers were more durable and springy. Broiler could not be used because it was usually going through the cleaning process which was labor intensive. Bacon was microwaved. No such thing as hot cakes. It was a clumsy operation. But ham, egg and cheese croissant was really good. McDonalds whooped our butts for breakfast though. Ours was an effort, there's was an experience.
