This man is pretty much saving the repair industry if it wasn't for people like him electric cars would be disposable just like TV's in the future
Nothing should be disposable. Support the Right to Repair movement in any way you can.
electric cars are not any more disposable than gas cars, any part can be repaired or changed for new
Tvs are pretty easy to fix as long as its not the lcd itself that is bad. Used parts from tvs with failed or smashed lcds are all over ebay.

@@shimeih2287 Ferrari are pretty unique with what they like and don't like you to do with their cars. They've always HATED modifications. Imagine spending several hundred grand on a car and not being able to put funny custom badges on it.

Rich just so you know, you're a hero to people like me. I just graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in May and because of this fucking world-wide pandemic, I can't find a job. I am a card-carrying engineer that finished top 3 or 4 in my class but I feel so worthless right now. I can't call myself an engineer if I don't do anything. You are a REAL engineer and I really admire your will to work through the frustration of the problem solving incorporated into this project and all previous projects. I don't think a lot of people realize just how difficult what you are doing actually is. It is truly inspiring.
Now that I’m really giving it some thought, maybe it would have been much easier to put a Tesla body and interior on a whole different frame that already fit a V8.

@@RegulerShowTV may be you have not noticed Jim, but a lot more people fit in a 747 than in a Model S. Fuel consumption of a fully loaded plane is actually pretty good per passenger and mile.
@@geraldh.8047 I suppose, this still applies to the private jet industry and any leisure aviation, planes drink fuel like nothing else, along with other human activities, but cars get almost all of the blame for emissions, when the automotive industry worldwide only contributes to about 10% of total emissions.

Hey Richie, since you don't have much room under the car I'd recommend looking into oval exhaust piping, a bit more expensive but you'll gain quite a bit more ground clearence.

Elon is done with Tesla. All the government subsidies have dried up and SpaceX is profitable now. The second Tesla hits $650b he will drop Tesla faster than Rich can finish this build. Waiting to see which company is going to jump first to buy Tesla then; Ford, GM, or Volkswagen Group for the charging infrastructure.

Hey Rich, chances are slim you will see this but gonna try anyway. I work at Detroit speed, we build classic cars with mostly LS power plants. So the 2nd gen camaro doesn't have a ton of room for dual 3" exhaust, how do we fix it? Well, we cut the floor out and raise the exhaust up for ground clearance then we build the floor back around the exhaust. With how much you're having to modify the floor, this might be a solution for you as well. Move those rails further out and stuff the exhaust as close as can to the trans and the driveshaft.

You ever lay a floor, roof or do a lot of mechanic work on your knees all day? Doesn't matter how old you are, if you don't wanna go home in pain then wear some damn pads. It has the bonus benefit of helping prevent osteoarthritis in your knees if you start young enough too. Baseline is it prevents knee soreness, the rest are icing on the cake.

When the V8Tesla is done you should go to a Tesla service dept with a complaint of a noise coming from the motor and smoke from the rear plus you have to keep putting 93 octane in it and record the techs reactions.

Need a Translator board to act as a go-between for the LS ECU/TCU CAN Bus, and the Tesla CAN bus, taking care of translating the messages back and forward so you can start the car, etc from the MCU

I would love for you and Louis Rossman to interview each other or other collaboration. He has been spearheading the right to repair movement for laptops and phones. And in you own way you have been for cars
other than the editing, the excitement I have for the v8 tesla mirrors Rob Dahm 4 rotor AWD build. Here's hoping despite the sillyness, there's enough coverage on the engineering side of the build. EVs in general are rare and expensive in my country, I even tried researching simple DIY Electric conversion and it's still too expensive/hard. Knowing someone online who consciously do a ICE swap onto an EV is just mind boggling

I was wondering tho: Wouldn't it have been easier to "cut off" the connections you need from both harness then use the material and wires that Chevy use to build their own harness and wires that has to go close to the engine, then connect those parts to that new harness?
