    Trying to build the same truck right now. It’s in a million pieces. More rust than an iron mine. I built a 496 stroker to put in it with a TH400 trans.

    Nice build! I think wood beds need to be thought over, deciduous tree wise. With red paint, a walnut or cherry floor would pop. Maybe even box elder with the light grain and mixed reds.

    Used to be 3on the tree, then became 3 slam on the seat 💺 only bad thing is who sat in the middle, you had to be fast to call shot-Gun to sit on passenger door side,
    LoL it was brutal. Getting slammed by the stick shift on third gear on the leg as a passenger sitting in the middle.

    Where did you get the inside of the Glove Box at?

    • @AndysDogHouse
      @AndysDogHouse Před 3 lety

      Hey Robert. They are easy to make. It is like building a box the same size as the glove box opening and use small screws to keep it in place at the front and a support strap on the back.

    White top, then red, stock hood red, then cowl induction red, SS on window rubber, then black. Are the tailgate letters still white? Confused and no one noticed.

    • @robertelee6712

      Jonathan Hawkins If this truck was originally a manual transmission the it came with a 3 speed on the column.

      @Ken6151 Před 5 lety

      The truck 4-speed was an option. First gear is very low and not synchronized. Possibly by New Process Gear.

    • @deankay4434
      @deankay4434 Před 3 lety

      Muncie model 465. 4 speed but reverse was on the right bottom and came with PTO plates on both sides. Like you said, no synchronization on 1st gear. 4th ratio is 1:1 with granny low. Start it, place it in first, get out and walk faster than the truck. Flat bed and tow truck beds where popular while fakers could bolt on a pump, place a large diameter cable to engage pump as it ran off counter shaft that always turns with engine running, in neutral or driving. Small towns mounted 500 gallon tanks & boom sprayer for grass or field boom folding spray arms. Part of the volunteer fire department along with wood create box with new / used US Army Jeep after Korean War, sold in the mid 60’s for $250. You had to assemble the tires, bumpers and steering wheel. Most had loose steering links on purpose, requiring an alignment, tires OEM w/tubes and came flat. The Chevy could have a suction pump for filling the tank out of creek, pond, lake, or water tank. Jeeps could not lift the 500 gallon tank as the back would rub and front came off the ground with shorter wheel base than Chevy. I helped put one of each together as holding the flashlight and getting tools.

    It's alright to have some stuff done by others like engine or trans stuff like that but to just throw a bunch of money at a shop and have them build it is not hot rodding

    • @darkpassenger7064
      @darkpassenger7064 Před 5 lety

      Totally agreed. Anyone can pay to have something built. Takes a real car guy/girl to do it themselves. It gives you that sense of pride when it's done. Sure, farm out the motor or trans to a professional. There's no shame in that. I built my first car (68 elcamino) when I was just 19. I used to get loads of compliments and appreciation because of my age. I've built over sixty cars now and you never lose that sense of pride when you turn that key for the first time.
