How to Spin A Gun
I spent a couple days on set recently with AMC Western Channel host & showed them the fine cowboy skills that won the west. Gun spinning, Hollywood gun spinning like you would have seen on Tombstone the movie. Trick roping which is what brought Will Roberts to his fame, working with Cirque du Soleil on the Las Vegas strip for over 1300 performances in Viva Elvis.
These video are lessons that be in the release of Will Roberts new video series on Ropes & Guns.

Tu es satis Bonus.
I learned gun spinning in my firearms safety class.
"Ocelots are proud creatures, they prefer to hunt alone"
Twelve Shots....
“Engravings. Give you no tactical advantage whatsoever. That was some fancy shooting- pretty good..”
Six shots, more than enough to kill anything that moves
Ryan Smith “It’s been a long time since I’ve had such a good fight..”
but im just getting warmed up
I am Revolver Ocelot! ! Pass it on and... Let me know what you want to see?
RO
What tricks do you recommend for cross draw and under arm cross draw users? A video of that would help immensely for a kit I'm working on.
What kind of kit?
Will
I'm part of a Star Wars costume club called the Mandalorian Mercs. We make Boba Fett-esque suits of armor. The holster I use is a custom made cross draw Doc Holiday type holster except its further up under the arm. with the butt sticking out at an angle
+Will Roberts Liar!
+Revolver Ocelot you have no videos you have no subscribers I'm the real revolver no fake no animation I'm the real deal ... back off
"Engravings.. Give you no tactical advantage whatsoever".
"But that was some fancy shooting...... You're pretty good!"
engraving takes of some metal me the gun less heavy
the new phat dragon It's a quote from metal gear
I love to reload in the middle of battle there’s nothing like the feeling of slamming a long silver bullet into a well greased chamber
I think looking badass gives u the biggest tactical advantage
Your humor is as incredible as your gun, hat and rifle spinning. "Cowboys in the hood..." Ha ha ha!! Glad I discovered your channel, Will.
Thanks John .. If you want to learn more on "How to" Go to HowToCowboyTricks.com (trick roping, gun spinning, whips, Knifes) and any questions PLEASE let me know.
L1 L1 or LB LB is the better way, it's very much easier

"Cowboys in the hood" lol I like it.
Great video, Will. I've been wanting to learn how to do this ever since I saw Michael Biehn spinning his gun as Johnny Ringo in Tombstone. I appreciate how simple your first building block is: just the quick flip-down and flip-up.
Haha I just watched Tombstone last weekend and now I'm here so I can gun sling like Johnny Ringo
YOU NEVER SPIN GUNS LOADED NEVER!
Relax, its single Action.
+Anthony “TheTacoMan” Pierri what does that mean ?
+Will Roberts i know its stupid to spin while the gun is loaded. although if someone bought one of those, and tried to spin it while loaded, you would think they'ed be fine. Then again, malfunctions do happen.
+Anthony “TheTacoMan” Pierri you would be surprised how many people that I know that actually think you can spin a gun well loaded but in a competition any spin disqualifies you in addition yeah can malfunction but it's a pretty difficult going to get fire accidentally.. As I'm sure you well know but there are people out there and you know that too
+Will Roberts does the size of your hand affect how well you can spin a revolver?
The fact that this looks like Mary Robbins album cover is badass.
6 mins, and 30 seconds in..... and STILL have not learned anything, except, how proud you are of yourself.
I totally understand… You let me know where to send the refund for what you paid to watch this. Oh and if you really want to learn home then go to my site howtocowboy tricks.com. I promise you you’ll learn how to spin guns ropes whips knives the whole 9 yards thanks for leaving a comment it’s constructive
You're pretty good
He's no Ocelot, but he's pretty good
Yeah... *pretty good.*
Cowboys in the Hood. When time traveling Clint Eastwood teleports to a modern ghetto.
You mean Gran Torino?
great help, thank you Will Roberts, your expertise demonstrates the vast amount of time that it took to make it LOOK so smooth!
Got my gun yesterday. Typing this with a blister on my index finger.
Love it.
Lubrication is underestimated. Gonna get me something for them fingers.
Thank you for sharing the info.
Just bought the Vaquero 45lc 4 days ago... got to do something about the grips as it's catching the back side of my middle finger. Glad I found the video. Thanks for the start on some new flash. Used to spin swords, then flame swords, now I'll be spinning a stainless 45 icon. Thanks again Will. I'll keep watching.
I’ve been practicing my spinning... Your advice to spin with my hands and not my arms really stuck out! Thank you!
Gun twirlin, martial arts and golf lessons all in one! Thanks!
tip: practice standing in front of a couch or recliner. trust me.
Yeah I learned that the hard way 😅 now I practice over my bed
I searched "gun spinning" just to see people making MGS references.
You’re pretty good
@@revolverocelot3697 kept you waiting huh
I am so glad you addressed the lubrication thing. I had to cut my practice short today because I shredded my finger in practice last night. Had the same problem when I was spinning karambits years ago. I’ll have to try this now.
It’s the opposite of lubricating. The powder dries the oils on your hand.
The engravings on that shirt however give you no tactical advantage in the battlefield.
Still, you're pretty good.
12, this time I have 12 shots
Yep I've been spining gun one my fingers For a long time and Will Roberts is showing yall the right way Only time I show off is when I'm Shooting them or in a airsoft war
I'm watching "For A Few Dollars More" and figured I'd check out some gun spinners. Thx for keeping the old west alive. Great job and I was really impressed with the gopro. Yippee Kai Yayyyy bro!
Watched Tombstone the other night, Amazing spinning with the gun and the whisky flask.
It was a "tin cup" not a whiskey flask. Gun spinning was loathed by the gun fighters in the old west. Wyatt earp, Ben thompson, bat masterson, and John Wesley Hardin. All have quotes about the distain that real gun fighters had for "spinners"
I do a flicktated spin so this was very helpful
Beautiful presentation, thanks Will.
Thanks for the video. Great stuff and cool to see that you're in Winchester too.
thats some mighty fine spinning...
I have a question, when you're doing that "down up" motion, are you hitting the underside of the barrel with your other fingers to spin the gun? Or do you only use your index finger?
Brilliant!
Coming from red dead redemption 2
Sir you must be a bounty hunter 🤣
You're pretty good (...pretty good...)
slick reference.
“NOW GO! LET THE LEGEND COME BACK TO LIFE!”
Your movie cameo was awsome on the killer Will!!👍
I'm not a huge fan of over the top gun spinning. But there's something to be said for the man that seamlessly spins the gun back into the holster after a draw. Makes him seem all the more deadly.
That was really smooth enjoyed watching
Well Done. Your slomo shows the hand motion in detail. I have a std mfg sa and would try this over blankets or a bed. Enjoyed Presentation 🔫👍
how many times did you drop it before you learned and do you still drop it once in a while?
I've been practicing for a while, and i can spin both forwards, and backwards, but only around two revolutions before the gun starts to bounce up and down around my finger, rather than spinning. What am i doing wrong to cause that?
Hey , are you doing anything with your fingers to spin it or is it just a curricular motion
Thumbs up. Very informative. TY
Thanks for the help! Was great to see it from the Go pro point of view, Very helpful. My new years resolution is to buy a replica pistol and learn this
I really liked the go pro perspective I can’t seem to get it to work like that for myself any tips
Little help needed here, learning to spin so what does one do when a person has really short fingers and that gun seems less then a 1/4 inch away from the hand when spinning, it can get difficult
Send me a video of you spinning and I will give you a tip. Also, I recommend that you go to HowToCowboyTricks.com for lessons
Will
Perfect video quality
Will, I have an more modern style airsoft metal revolver, do these tricks still work the same, or will I need to do a good amount of adjusting?
You just need to get used to the weight, tilt, and overall "feel" of the gun. Hope this helped.
I´d seen my dad do this when I was a kid in the 60s with a .455 Webley (yes, a limey veteran! Malaya, Korea). One of his tricks was to spin the revolver, release it so the revolver continues in mid air upwards. He then hits the butt of the revolver so it reverses direction, catches it, still spinning. As you demonstrated, he continued spinning and then releasing the revolver when its behind him, going over his shoulder then catching it again..He loved watching westerns!!!!!!
Too bad you didn’t have an iPhone back then thanks for the comment
It´s a pleasure, great to see, many thanks!
That's pretty cool 😎
What replica gun would you recommend and how long of barrel for a beginner? Thanks for any help !
IVE BEEN "TWIRLIN" SINCE I WAS YOUNG LOL. BUT YOU DEFINITLY HAVE GIVIN ME THE ADVICE I NEED TO MOVE TO THE NEXT STEPS. THANKS AGAIN MAN.
If you want to post a video of you spinning or have a question on a certain trick I will respond back with a video to help you.

Will Roberts lol I'm to shy to post and I had one of those wobbly guns you spoke off but it broke...so I'm saving up for 2 real one. also any quick pointers on spinning it back into the holster.?
If anyone has questions about spinning guns.. leave your question(s) here.
Will
Will Roberts are the non firing replicas just as good sometimes?
Will Roberts when you were starting how did you sell your show to event organizers
My fingers are short I find it hard at times to get the gun to stay put while spinning, not that I'm that good At it do to that problem.
I apologise I'm here years late. Are there any inexpensive replica Colt SAA type pistols that have the correct weight and balance? I don't know if I'm coordinated enough to feel comfortable practicing with a $600+ Vaquero.
He didnt answer any of these ....
I sure hope California becomes more gun friendly.
It won't .
When the next Governor takes his seat we will see a major problem with 2nd amendment rights taken away.
Even reloading will become difficult if not impossible.
Moving away asap.
Good luck with that!
YEAH . . .
I don't see much
chance of that happening.
like 0%.
EVER !!!
Hahahahahahahahahaha
I haven't spun a revolver since I was a kid, using my old Colt SAA cap guns
revolver ocelot
I really want a stainless Ruger Vaquero in .44 magnum with the 4.62 inch barrel. I do have a blued New Vaquero .357 with a 4.62 barrel though. Gonna go practice spinning :) Thanks for the video.
*WELL LUBRICATED*
Thanks man
What's your barrel length?
What length balances better
Great video and great speaker.
THIS is the way to handle a gun!
What would you say is a good size of the gun to do spinning tricks? I have a 8" barrel 44 magnum (Smith and Wesson 629) weighing about 50 oz (1.4 kg) . I tried spinning with it and its so heavy that I cannot spin it fast or too long, else I feel like the torque is ripping my finger off. If you say it should be doable, what kind of exercise you think I should do to strengthen the finger for spinning?
Late comment but anyway:
You really should stick to single action revolvers for spinning. Double action magnum revolvers like the S&W 629 N-Frame aren't cowboy guns: they recoil too much for any fast draw shooting, they are too large and heavy for both fast draw and spinning, and they did not exist during the Old West. They are so huge that most of them require shoulder holsters, as belt holsters cannot carry them comfortably.
You never seen Dirty Harry spin his Model 29 like the Man with No Name spins his Colt revolver right?
i like it natural movement
Thank You!
Hi Will! I'm getting a Ruger Vaquero myself soon. However the one I want is the 5.5 inch instead of the 4.5 inch like the one's you have. How much harder does that extra length make it (if you know)?
+Defengar Don't mean to step in but it's nothing that you'll notice..
LoneStarArcher Thanks!
Not much, my good friend Joey Dillion spins a 7 inch barrel .. And watch this czcams.com/video/DoUHXdRW-wg/video.html
but can you do the FBI backflip without shooting a bystander!
Been exercising with a colt peacemaker, it definitely strains your forearms because of the weight.
I have some single action revolvers (Uberti 357 Cattlemen) for cowboy action shooting. They're heavy. I don't quite see how you spin such heavy guns so seemingly effortlessly.
Thank you
Do you know where you can get some good guns that are about the same weight but dont shoot?
what happens if you drop it on a percussion cap bang
How is it that you're able to do that with a lever action in the beginning? I've tried doing that with my Winchester .30-30 and it felt like I almost damn near broke my fingers!
"He's pretty good"
-MGS kids will understand
Q2 shots...this time ive got 12 shots
“Let’s see if the man can live up to the legend”
"Meeeeoooowwwww"
- Ocelot
My "you are sweeping me, stop it!" radar is pinging so hard you could hear it from outer space.
Looks like you're using 4.6" barrel. Do you think those same feats can be done with a 5.5" barrel? I want to lean, and want to know! Thanks.
Yes .. I used a 12 in barrel in a Cirque du Soleil show and in some cases it was better. Check out my learning channel for gun spinning tutorials HowToCowboyTricks.com
nice spins good video
What is good lubricant?
Revolver.......……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………ocelot
*Revolvah
ruger vaquero 4 3/4 barrel ... Good job Vince
What if my fingers are to short,i always notice taller people with longer fingers have no problem learning, but my index fingers are short,i tend to have better results with my middle finger.
Will, what is your experience with spinning 7.5 inch guns?
8 Bullets. More than enough to kill anything that moves
+Jinzo Krim The problem is when there is more than one thing that needs to die,
That bitch is wearing perfume!
+Only One I am and I agree!
You're assuming you can hit the target. One bullet is enough. 20 bullets isn't enough if you miss all 20. You don't NEED more bullets to actually kill something, you just need enough to account for all the missing you will be doing.

Cool
10/10 quality
thx mel brooks. it's good ta be da king
you're pretty good
Will:
It's Paulette.
I wish you would come up and rent out the "Elks Theater" in Prescott, AZ...
I REALLY believe that you would have a sold out performance up here with all of these cowboys.
I need to ask How long is the Barrel on the Gun??? If I get Non Firing replicas that are the same weight and the hammer does cock and move like the real thing but does not fire. What Length Barrel should I go with A 5 in or The Quickdraw 4in???
I watched an episode of The Rifleman the other day and Sammy Davis Jr. was one helluva gun spinner, something that really impressed me because he probably learned it for just that one 30 minute episode, and more than likely never did it again. The actors in the movie "The Quick and the Dead" , I read used aluminum guns so they could work them better, especially Sharon Stone. What is your take on that ?
"You're pretty good"
can you do that with a 1851 navy or 1860 army ???
I have a serious question. Can most revolvers handle this kind of extreme spinning torture? I have a Smith & Wesson 38. Special and I have been spinning it as practice. I have dropped it a few times. I feel like the cylinder doesn't move as smooth as it used to. What do you recommend for practicing but not messing up your real firearms?
Thanks for any information from anyone.
~Seth~
Sethmyrrh I know this is old and I don't know if you've solved your problem but as someone who wants to get into gun spinning myself I'm personally going to go with a good quality replica with the same weight as a Colt .45. There are good quality bb guns that use shells with a single bb loaded so you can get the same kind of practice with reloading and handling for about 120ish or more compared to the 4 or 500+ bucks you have to pay for an actual gun. It's a far cheaper and safer alternative to using your actual gun. I hope this helps if you still needed an answer.
Hey partner
What would you recommended today for a good quality non-firing colt replica? No Denix pls.
R FJ You’re gonna laugh when I tell you this… For $95 each you can get some really beautiful looking chrome a 7 inch barrel calls 45 BB guns they’re awesome are used him when I travel so I don’t have to check guns
Best Juggler ! ! Grande Giocoliere ! ! WOW !
I think he's using the quickdraw, you can tell by the ejector rod (The thing under the barrel, that is used to punch out empty shells). If the ejector rod and the barrel are the same length, it's the 4 3/4" quickdraw, if the barrel is a bit longer than the rod, it's the "artillery" model.
Bravoo !
this is a very nice short film, if you would like to add to your bag of tricks see film
called (Gun fighting with a BB gun) easy to learn and you would be fantastic
shooting cans at 60 feet with a fast draw !
You're pretty good!
+Chase1410 Pretty... good?
Ahh I see what you were trying to do
You ejected the first bullet by hand didn't you
If I were to make a wooden replica of a revolver to practice spinning(also because MGSV changed Ocelot's revolver into something not so realistic), should I make it heavier at barrel and grip, or should I make it heavier at cylinder area?
Awesome video, I will practice everyday asap until I can pretend to be Revolver Ocelot as Revolver Ocelot.
