For people considering ecdy/turk, I suggest that you split the doses evenly throughout the day (rather than taking them in a preworkout fashion). It works much better when it's constantly in your system with stable levels kind of like creatine. Maybe a 9am-2pm-8pm split.

There’s a difference between the ajuga Turkestanica extract and turkesterone. Turkesterone seems to be a component of the extract and can vary in percentage of the extract depending on the time the plant was harvested. 500mg of the extract could result to anywhere between 10-150mg of actual turkesterone. This could explain those dosage discrepancies you referenced.

I've had a small, but noticable, increase in strength. Running a powerbuilding block right now and keep hitting PR's, after mostly being at a plateau. I've also noticed an increase in metabolic rate. Not sure if it's BMR, NEAT, TEPA, etc but it seems that my surplus calorie goal has become a deficit for me. Lost a few pounds while holding on to, essentially, the same or slightly more muscle mass. Ecdysteroid is not the compounds used by plant to defend, that is phytoecdysteroid. The word Ecdysteroid stands for steroid involved in ecdysis, they are made by arthropod to molt. The two term are sometimes interchangeable but they are not the same. For example, ecdysterone can be classified as both as it is found both in plants and insects. But turkesterone is not ecdy but phyoecdy as it is not found in arthropod in high amount.

Excellent video thank you for the information. Really appreciated the simple explanation of the possible mechanism of action.
I do have questions I wonder if you could answer. Is estrogen responsible or related to changes in mood in males or is that a myth? Any idea if activation or suppression of either alpha or beta receptors via this mechanism could theoretically impact mood changes. I keep hearing that there is no negative side effects because of the lack of impact on measurable labs associated with anabolics. But to me a significant change in mental health would be a negative effect of this supplement and a lot more difficult to measure. What are your thoughts?

I've always been a natural lifter, don't think these supplements take your natty card, but I'm going to continue taking them. It's a cost-effective option for someone looking for a good natural boost. Proper nutrition has been a good foundation but I'm 6'4 1/2" 35 y/o male and went from a thick/stocky 257 to a leaned out 208 in roughly a 15 week time span and have never felt better. For me, my takeaway has been increased energy levels which leads to increased intensity at the gym, and perhaps better muscle building.

In the first study, the "discrepency" in dosages is explained by the fact that the supplement taken was a 100mg dose of a serum "standardized for 30mg" of ecdysterone (E), however they did not perform supplement analysis so we do not know how much of actual E was in there. In the second they only claimed that the test subjects were taking capsules that the company claimed to contain 100mg of E, not that the subjects were actually receiving that amount. The 6mg number comes from the supplement analysis they performed, meaning the capsules were actually proven to contain about 6mg of E each. As to why the former study found nothing and the latter was promising, maybe the supplement in the first study contained extremely small amounts of actual E? Maybe there were key differences in the training the subject performed which had an effect on how the E functioned? Who knows.

So has my friend. We buy together. He has had a way better response than me. He feels better overall, sleeps better, has seen better overall gains from training. I have only found it takes the edge off my 'soreness' from training. And I have a very slight lift in energy. I would say I feel the same as I do when I take creatine at higher doses. This is what I read about ecdysterone being superior to Turk due:
“This brings us to the second issue with turkesterone supplements on the market -- they’re woefully underdosed.
Extrapolating a human equivalent dose from the animal studies puts the dosage around 400mg of ajuga turkestanica extract standardized to 40% ecdysteroids, with the ecdysteroid content slanted heavily in the favor of 20-hydroxyecdysone (ecdysterone) NOT turkesterone.[14]
Finally, the vast majority of Ajuga turkestanica extracts available on the market only contain ~20% ecdysteroids, meaning that you’re not getting a whole lot of turkesterone (or ecdysterone for that matter.
To put everything into perspective, using the numbers we have to date on turkesterone and ajuga turkestanica extract, if you weigh 180 lbs, you’d need to consume over EIGHT GRAMS of the extract daily!
Consider that most supplements only provide between 250-500mg of Ajuga turkestanica extract, and you start to see that you’re getting ripped off.
The good news is that there already is another option that’s readily accessible, not over-priced, and (best of all) is supported by human research -- turkesterone’s big brother...ECDYSTERONE!”

Currently taking Turk. 1500 mg a day… first week my appetite increased noticeably but my waist circumference shrank a whole pants size, started sleeping better, noticing my upper body is starting to get a little swole like when I was first on testosterone boosters… also developed an itch that worried me at first because I had to scratch it and the area turned super red (right under my delts) but I was wondering if this was because of a bad mix of multivitamin and the Turk… stopped the multis and now it’s not as bad but not completely going away. Also, not sure if this a by product of other benefits but I am performing around my highest mental capacity at work. No brain fog, I have more energy mentally and physically throughout the day than ever. Did a heavy workout / 4 mile walk today and still had energy after all of it, when usually I will have severe fatigue.

If you watch Derek’s most recent and last video on Turkesterone and Ecdysterone, he talks about clinical trials done on rats. More positive side effects than negative but that’s only in animals, not humans. Reason why most people have taken up turkesterone or ecdysterone is because the bloodwork is clean, no hormonal suppression, and no PCT is required. Some cycle Turk/Ecdy and others use it indefinitely. It should still be used with caution regardless.
