    I've been taking them all for years all and definitely cycle the herbs every 2-3 months but also cycle boron 7 days on/off. I've also had months off with boron. I believe they've had a big effect on being able to grow a full beard, which is why I started all this to begin with. The beard has come a very long way, to say the least.

    Great content and well versed. Much appreciated. I am 56 so I can safely assume my T levels are low. I work out hard and fairly heavy (not enough to get injured and its more feeling the muscle work vs how much weight I throw around). Currently my diet is very clean. I watch both macro and micro nutrients, drink a gallon of fresh water a day and take certain supplements (zinc, boron, Vit D, creatine, plant based organic protein, probiotics, beet powder and organic greens powder). I took about 5-6 years off from the gym and have been back for 3 months now and I can say "thank GOD for muscle memory". I am fairly shocked at how fast my 56 year old body responded. I would also mention I am not on TRT or any hormone therapy at all. You have me most interested in the ashwaganda, which I have heard of but never taken. The other 3 I cannot say I am aware of and I do not recall seeing them in GNC. I will look into those for sure.

      TY for this. My friend had 3 surgeries from severe chrohns and was on prednisone and HIGH doses of steroids for YEARS. He is dealing with adrenal failure and now has NO core or belly muscles at all from having 3 cuts on his stomach in less than 2 yrs. Basically, his tummy is just mush. He did shots of testosterone BUT it made him super short fused, etc. Plus he hates doing injections, they really can be rough on the heart. Bc of chrohns he also has malabsorption issues.
      👉Do you know of or offer supplements that are maybe chewable of soluble so he can absorb them via mouth? When I say low....LOW! 40 for a 50 yr old man, FORTY(he should be at least at 300)!! They even redid his test bc they thought it was wrong, 46 was the follow up number. It is nuts. Any suggestions would be amazing. Doctors haven't been much help(WV doesn't have great physicians). TY for posting this BTW. Very informative!

I have not used these yet. What is the stack that you are on? Do you use all of these herbs and micronutrients at once, then take time off? Or do you use some on some days, and on your off days use others? You didn't specify how you take these. Also, Forskolin is also great not just for fat loss but for increasing free testosterone. It does this by releasing some of your body's bound testosterone from SHBG(Sex hormone binding globulin).

    These things can be beneficial IF your T is not already optimal, which you mentioned. I think they are most beneficial for those with sub-optimal T and older people. Maybe the best approach is not to try to increase T but lower those things which lower free T like excess SHBG and estrogen. As we get older we start to shift to estrogen dominance and then there are the estrogens picked up from foods and the environment. The rest should be focused on lifestyle factors (diet, exercise, sleep, stress reduction, etc.)

    • @NutritionLibrary
      @NutritionLibrary  Před 3 lety

      For sure. Lifestyle factors are definitely the big movers. Diet, exercise, sleep, cold and heat exposure. If those things are on point supplements probably aren’t necessary. But they are a useful tool in the meantime

    I'd like to take supplements to enhance my mental performance (better memory, increase awareness, better focus ability...etc). What is the best supplement I should look into? I know there's Magenesium, Ashwagandha, L-Thenaine, and others, but is there one you would absolutely recommend above all for brain boosting? I'm currently a student looking for ways to get the edge on school work.

    • @NutritionLibrary
      @NutritionLibrary  Před 4 lety +4

      Yeah. My general rule of thumb is to only use Mucuna 3-4 times per week. It can cause a pretty good dependence if taken every day. Ashwagandha can be taken more frequently without the same tolerance.

  • @fabriziomiccichephotograph9665

    I have been tracking my daily nutrients using a reliable app. From my diet I have an average of 7-8 mg (of course it is an approximation). I take a multi vitamin that contains 7.5 mg of zinc (zinc oxide listed in the ingredients). So I am at ca. 15-16 mg/day. However, I am tempted to take a bit more zinc. Got an extra supplement that contains 15 mg of zinc (zinc glycinate) + 0.75 mg of copper (copper glycinate). What is your opinion of adding this latter supplement to my stack? Currently I am taking: 6 mg of boron + 600 mg of Ashwagandha (2x 300 mg of KSM-66) + 3000 IU Vit D + Creatine + Fish Oil. Thank you

    • @NutritionLibrary
      @NutritionLibrary  Před 3 lety +1

      Zinc oxide doesn’t absorb well at all. But if you are already meeting your dietary requirements with foods, there is no need to consume extra zinc. The exception to this would be if you are getting your zinc through plant sources instead of animal sources. If that is the case add some zinc glycinate

    Ashwaganda seemed amazing when I first tried it. I immediately felt like I was getting an awesome pump, and then it helped me sleep when I was having trouble. But later after not using for a while and taking a large dose it seemed to have some negative side effects without the original benefits. It effected my mood negatively. Maybe it's because I took too much but I'm giving it a break before trying again more sparingly. Hopefully it was something else or because I took a different brand because I was really enjoying the initial effects.

    • @novjan89able

      Try taking Agmatine Sulfate. It helps bring back the effects of ashwaghanda through many mechanisms, one of which is lowering tolerance to drugs and substances. It also modulates serotonin which I noticed prolonged use of ashwaghanda mimicked low serotonin for me.

      Which is expected. When you stop taking a supplement/drug your tolerance gradually goes down. Starting back up the appropriate dosage should have been closer to what you started with the first time... at the very least, not a large dose. A large dose of most supplements/drugs without the coinciding tolerance will exacerbate negative side effects.
