I love it when music snobs say that U2 "sold out" to go mainstream...LOL. Achtung Baby and Zooropa were SO different than anything they had done before. They actually risked alienating many long time fans. GREAT MUSIC! Love it!
As was Pop at it's time, pop was so 80's when that came out. U2 didn't sell out, they told people what to buy next year! Zoo TV was so ahead of it's time, inspired by TV's coverage of the Gulf war. I remember an interview during Zoo TV where Edge said they knew one of two things would happen, either Achtung Baby would destroy them or it would make them the biggest band in the World.
This was my first big concert and it's still unlike anything I've seen. It was a feast of the senses. That bass ran right through me. Watching this still gives me goosebumps.
Ironically, the whole point of Zoo TV was how the world had sold out to consumerism..hahaha..not surprised people didnt get it. With Achtung Baby and Zoo TV, U2 just moved the bar up to a whole new level. I doubt the big pop music produced in the 90s would have been the same if it wasn't for AB, it was ahead of its time. Its as seminal a record as Revolver.
this. they had the balls to change, in a period where you either evolve, or get buried. and they evolved. If only they could do that now instead of being crap Pop, for me was their latest great album
@@lephilistin I miss the fearless U2. I get the legacy stuff, and staying relevant. At the same time I really feel what got me into them in the first place (this was 1995) was a willingness to say fuck all and do something off the wall. I still ADORE Passengers.
Ender Bowen Creative peak right here! Fav album over Achtung Baby. This was when they were a proper alternative rock band. I got into them at the end of this tour just before Pop. They turned into a generic “were U2 now “ come Bonjovi bland. I lost interest in them at All that you can’t leave behind. I enjoyed their alternative period. I didn’t want them to stop reinventing themselves but they did and it all became a bit boring. They have still written some good songs post their best two albums but songs only, not complete albums that I can get lost in. I still think they could do something a bit mad if they wanted to but they have lost their spark...old age I think!😂
zooo tv change my life ever..and you what you says,,,loves u2 ever ever 37 years im 26 years listening you boys,,achtung baby change my life u2 we love you from portugal
As if that “look” at 1:45 isn’t enough.. we’re then treated to a masterclass in musicality with Bono performing every nuance for a min or so, hidden in the depths of an OTT encore.. way to go
Get the DVD of ZooTV. It will be in better quality that you can see on the internet. Zoo TV is one of the best concert that U2 did. The DVD is spectular. Sound and Video. You will be lucky to find this DVD, because this DVD is rare.
This song to me is one of their best and funnest ones ever. Whats most important is watching Larry play the drums on this song. lol They did risk a lot changing up their sound and made a lot of new fans in the process
tango dancing in lemon is inspired in a spanish man that bono saw in a club just dancing by himself... gavin friday is and always will be U2's main creative consultant, great minds think alike
seria inprecionante que u2des pues del 360 tour sacara un dvd con algun especial sobre toda su musica retro estaria muy bien por queeste video esta super chido bye
this is one of the first songs i hever really liked. i was brought up with crap music, as i got older i went looking for good bands...guess what the internet gave me? u2! they were b4 my time...but amazing!
The good old days of u2. So experimental, so fresh playing those real hidden hits of Zooropa. This song and lemon are huge songs and u2 continue to play same boring hits live. Now they just suck lingering on as a conventional rock band.
This song is about someone been co-ersed into taking drugs, and how the drug dealer is never far away: "Daddy won't let you weep, Daddy won't let you ache, Daddy gives you as much as you can take When you see daddy coming, You're licking your lip, Nails bitten down to the quick You cry for mama, And daddy's right along, He gives you the keys to a flamin' car..."
I saw Macphisto enter Bono at the longest day concert at the milton keyns bowl in about 1985 ? Michael ♥️...👿. It will leave him when my Macphisto leaves me. ( Many who are dealing with their own Macphisto , have hope , i maybe wrong but I believe your demon will leave you as well. ) ( Lady who saw me and who had a bad spirit enter you. At London college or university in the summer of 1985. I can't quite remember which college , but i do remember you . Your friend was a daughter of my boss in Cambridge.) Your Macphisto will leave you also. ( I believe . Michael 🤴 ).
I love how ridiculously quirky bono acts in this performance
Bono as macphisto during this and lemon is just incredible
this is one of those rare song one can hear till eternity.

Has it crashed yet?? I hope not lol
Lol I have to try it!
Really underrated album from u2
+Scott Reeves This album is like receiving drunken phonecalls from the Zoo TV Party. Crazy, brillant and raw. U2 were at their peak, fearless and fun.
+Mathieu Plasse that's the truth sir

Adam was not prepared for the first explosion 😂
Zoorapa and POP was timeless techno music in my opinion. Still listen to it often. Such a great dance groove.
the best period in U2, period. Which unfortunately will never come back
zooo tv change my life ever..and you what you says,,,loves u2 ever ever 37 years im 26 years listening you boys,,achtung baby change my life u2 we love you from portugal
Changed my life too. This is what I want to do for others!
No just zoo tv all there music especially Bono’s passion in the Joshua tree and is hard work in achtung baby
The early 90's was a time of great movies and some unrest. U2 caught the spirit very well.
Best encore U2 ever made. Ever.
xxxx - missed zootv but caught up with popmart, i have to say these are underrated years amidst the albums & tours.... masterpieces of their arts x
Agreed. I still spin POP daily.
this is my fav u2 song
As if that “look” at 1:45 isn’t enough.. we’re then treated to a masterclass in musicality with Bono performing every nuance for a min or so, hidden in the depths of an OTT encore.. way to go

That bass line. Mmmmmm!
His smile looks so Macphisto-ey
Loved that concert,i was there SYDNEY 1993 zootv tour, the best
Damn time flies by. I wonder if time flies by even faster if you're living at The Edge, listening him play The Fly.
Si pudiera ser viajero en el tiempo regresaría al '92-'93 sólo para ver este show en vivo
I..... what?
This song is so true for more issues than just this particular one he made it for.

Now that's an Encore!
how funny is mr mcfhisto ,loved acthung baby and bono what a character he is !
When U2 were so awesome
Dean Taylor the last time U2 was this good, Alabama had a Democrat Senator
ONE OF MY FAVS SONGS EVER!
I think this is one of their most underrated tunes--very much in the mold of Bowie's LOW LP.
This is their quintessential album!!
live band. amaizing live version.
A Z The best 😈
Awesome live gig, love this version of such a underrated song! Look what you've done to me.......

Yeah what a bunch of heroes!!
Zoo TV : BEST TOUR EVER !
It's a pretty harsh tune for a stadium. They were kind of brave back then.
It does sound more lively, compared to the album version
theyre still brave, if youve seen the new tour?
William Kirby acrobat live is pretty insane as well
lol please...they are just boring and predictable now.@@williamkirby1940
@@Zontar82 right and how many tours have you produced moron?
love the zoo baby!
This song to me is one of their best and funnest ones ever. Whats most important is watching Larry play the drums on this song. lol They did risk a lot changing up their sound and made a lot of new fans in the process

Love it when Larry flinched when the money cannon pops!
simplesmente ADORO esta fase do Bono: irreverente, brincalhão, absolutamente cativante.
Achtung Baby

@MrNoelhurley hahahaha! :D
Adam Clayton scarred with fireworks money at 4:26!
I thought about my father this way...ahahahaha
I'm more than "a little uptight".
