- Peter Jones: ""It hits all the buttons. I'm a boy, I love cars. It's my little dream" he gushes. However, he wants to know how many people like him are out there. David and Patti Bailey are pitching their wireless computer mice in the form of supercars. The duo keep composed whilst asking for an investment of £100,000 and in return, offer 20% of Motormouse.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

I loved how she held her nerve in the negotiating not many could do that.
Yes that was brilliant. And I think James liked her style too.
ITS JUST A FRIGGEN MOUSE!
Hope they paid the owner of the car designs! ELSE THATS BIG TROUBLE!
@Dan Quayles ITS SPELT POTATOE! bruh did you not listen to their pitch ?
Lol he doubled his shares for 20 percent more cash.
Trust me, he win that negotiation.
I'm a bit surprised Peter liked this. I guess the old Peter wanted to give the image he likes fancy fast cars. I could see the new Peter going " It's just a mouse!"
He looked so conflicted as he passed, just staring at the car-mouse, tumbling around in his hands... you could tell he really liked the product.
But yeah, it is just a mouse. Nothing special.
Early tech days were wild. People actually invested in iPad stands back in the day.
Do a metal version with working lights. $150. The “CEO” version ego mouse.
This is actually a very old episode
I wonder if he remembers GUI II :)
James was super clever here. Minimised his risk to barely anything and invested in two very competent people for his wider business.
Exactly, his offer amounted to buying £120K equity for £120K - but clearly all parties thought there was something in it for them so it worked. Always liked James in the Den, a real gentleman but also sharp businessman.
@@gaurasrspublishing You should take a look at what he tried doing to Sharon the owner of MagnaMole
Very polished pitch and they handled the questions excellently. If only everyone coming into the den had their act together like this couple.
Then it would not be as fun to watch ;)
@@ChintanCG I came to leave this exact comment. You beat me to it 👍
@Travel Crawl She isn't the only dragon who says that and secondly, she's actually the one who's the most straightforward and doesn't seek to beat people down before claiming that she's out in general whereas Peter, Duncan and Theo have a habit of doing exactly that which is unnecessary drama instead of just claiming you're out but because they are guys, it doesn't seem to bother you.
She is the fairest and nicest dragon who advises people well whether she's interested in investing or not, she's also not as egocentric as many of the other dragons such as Hilary Delvey, Doug Richard and Rachel Elnaugh.
Insulting people and calling them dumb is pretty dramatic to be honest "what you see in others that you don't like can lead to understanding of yourself" seems to very relevant in this particular case.
The show wouldnt be as good without the bad pitchers though! 😂
Most people aren't there for and just come in for the free advertisement.
A rare gem of an episode, I found myself hoping everyone gets a good deal out of it based on how sincere and enlightened they all conducted themselves.
So different than Shark Tank in that regard....
not watched whole pitch yet but surely that has a flaw if it only moved forward & back?
gamers will hate it
Too bad the product is terrible.
@@SirDragonClaw it really is a poor product. No IP what so ever
I mean there a lot of gem episodes, for altogether different reasons.
The look on James’s face was priceless when the couple mentioned a 60, 40 equity split, 😂😂😂
All businessmen are greedy.
@@je9625 well ye who doesn't love having more money?
Loved his look, just SHREWD
He wound up taking it just because of how persistent she was. She showed tact and firmness, which are very investable qualities.
@@je9625 what a lefty liberal thing to say, also why you are broke, get some money lil n
7:52 "probably the best quality mouse I've ever seen"
Pretty sure it's also the first one he's ever seen.
They cut his next question, in which he asked: "In which part of it do I speak to activate the computer?"
@@GothamClive Where did you see that part? On TV? Why are they cutting parts out of the show on CZcams? I don't like that.
@@johnsmithe4656 think it was a joke

oh.
:p
and then says that £30 is too expensive! for the best mouse ever?! and for a branded product! Porsche sell t-shirts for £40 ffs
Pattie has really good closing skills. Excellent pitch!
My ONLY disappointment with DD is they seldom show the post-pitch interview.
Pattie took a gamble asking for 60/40 in the hope James would meet them half way. She already suspected he probably would from his "I'm not interested in control" comment. Very shrewd and ballsy. Very well presented.
Such an awesome duo, composed and well organised!
Currently running a Logitech MX3 mouse.
And most “executive” level people I know run a similar spec mouse. To buy this would be like going from a rolls Royce to a Toyota Corolla. And yes the car analogy was intentional.
Your analogy is dependent upon when this was filmed.
Toyota is a chad
@@B_Bodziak if this was filmed in the last 10 years the same comment still applies and you simply insert a premium/popular mouse model the time.
A Toyota Corolla, but with a hotweels paintjob.
Getting a mouse like this instead of MX3 (I use it as well) is just childish.
Jeff Bezos drove a Honda Accord when he was worth 10 billion.
I like the way she does the trickiest bit at the end and he keeps quiet. Well done Mrs.
12:26 Duncan smiles due to her ability to stand firm on the counter offer 👏 😅
Peter remembered and was polite enough to say "pleasure to meet you" at the end! Peter is fantastic!
you know theres an offer coming when James is the last dragon standing
🤣in 2010 i was salesman in small computer shop chain on Tottenham ct.rd. and we had them on display - i don't remember ANY1 (me, nor colleagues) selling any of them!
they did attract attention, but were not cheap enough. Logitech had mice from £20, also with same, usb-nano rf receivers.
I love these 2, very professional and grounded 👏
me too. id love to have hot fun with them
They gave a great pitch. Answered everything well & showed knowledge with the business and the market. I think the product is a great idea! Cool & interesting. It appeals to a very wide demographic
How often do you see people with mice like that? They aren't particularly ergonomic and with the range available these days it's not particularly unique either
@@SuperNuclearUnicorn it looks uncomfortable I wouldn’t game with it deffo
@@finnhalf1663 If I remember correctly, wired versions of car mice existed way before this. There was even a burger mouse.
@@JM-tj5qm agree to disagree
They didn't had a product though, the website sells real cars now
The best mouse I ever had, for work and for gaming was a stand that didn't move, so no desk space needed, your hand sat on it and it just had a ball that you moved wherever you wanted the pointer to go and the left and right click where either side and a blue light lit up when you moves the ball. Not sure I've explained it very well but it was brilliant. Can't seem to buy them now, but I couldn't understand why the idea never caught on, it was amazingly designed.
Trackball. Still used across industry.
@@byteme9718 noway, I never knew they was called that, yeh the Kensington trackball is what I had. It was awesome, can't understand why anyone would use the normal mouse over that because it just doesn't need desks space and I think it was more accurate. Thanks for that, I'll order one now.
You still see them being used sometimes on tills and stuff like that, probably because it doesn't require much space. Couldn't imagine using one for gaming though
@@elobiretv honestly I used one to play "team fortress" that cane with the "orange box." The trackball was amazing for accuracy and whatever. It was so much better than a standard mouse. I owned with it, never had a minus k/d. But maybe it just suited me and might not suit everyone. But accuracy with that track ball was so much better in my opinion.
It's called a touchpad, but not sure it works with windows
A pitch from 2009. Really great confident pitch and impressive couple , would have been successful doing whatever they did later on i assume. Wish them success and happiness!
with a mouse that cant move sideways - i doubt it
@@mcfcguvnors abhahah
If you want to show off stuff on your desk, just buy a model car lol. I like spending money on a good quality peripherals, but I look for ergonomics, performance, features, accuracy. I don't have a care what it is shaped like lol.
This mouse would be a pain to use for more than a few minutes.
Correct. These novelty mice are just that; a novelty. There's a reason why a good quality mouse isn't shaped like a car or whatever else and that's because it's designed to feel comfortable in the user's hand for extended periods of time. All that these two have designed is an overpriced Christmas stocking present.
Especially the mini coopers they have on their website
Easily one of the best presentations and handling of questions ever on Dragon's Den. The product was very cool, but it is saturated with crappy cheap Chinese knock offs, even back when this pitch was made. The big problem that I don't think they even realised was how good the deal was for James Caan. He owns 40% of the company with only 24k at risk. Including a freehold property within the company that James now owns 40% means he is guaranteed that asset and a 96k stake in it. Basically he just invested 96k into a property and gave them 24k for the 40% share. If they had agreed on the 50/50 split, James would have been given 50% of the company for free, and he would have owned a 120k property investment!
Couldn't understand the numbers u described but i liked it.
This is why he is in the position he is in
The company closed months after this what are you talking about?
@@Falzeee Completely irrelevant
@Jake Cooper where’s that £24k figure coming from? I thought he invested £120k for 40%?
I requested this 1, thank you!
Woooow. Negotiating like absolute bosses. Well done
I said the same!
James could easily of got 45% if he stuck at it
Dont you have unvaxd citizens to hogtie?
He’s a better negotiator than Scotty from marketing.
@@PortlandMan Nah, 60/40 was the take it or leave it offer. They weren't going to change it, James could tell.
What a polished way to close the deal. Impressive lady.
Amazing pitch well done!
Well deserved great product look forward to seeing them in retail outlets congrats
now THIS is a pitch. This was BEAUTIFUL. I want to invest all my 10 bucks in my wallet for 0% equity!
Pure perfection of a pitch...
Theo's smug expression at 7:56 tickled me just right lol.
Oh my god thank you for pointing that out, just went back and saw it..
You can see that the owners are indeed professionals in the way the handled themselves. I consider this an example of how to make a Dragons Den pitch. Atleast in the way of making the dragons empathetic
Duncan with his usual “I’m oat!”
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
When I was about 15 I had a BMW i8 - shaped mouse. I thought it was supper cool. Until I started using a computer for work and used the mouse for 8h+ a day. Ergonomic mouse only, screw those weird shaped ones...
Were you hungry when you wrote this comment btw?
It's funny to see old products like that on Dragon's Den from ages ago.
I'm impressed with their bargaining skills!
The best Harry Enfield/Paul Whitehouse impressions yet! Well observed and so realistic. Hilarious! Almost like watching the real show!
I love James, he's always nice/respectful and often finds acway to make itcwork where tge other Dragons couldn't, this is a great example; wasn't sold on the product's market but found a way to make the couple worth investing in.
Great work
Great pitch and outcome.

I've been waiting for an episode like this one. Every time I watch one of these I'm always thinking about James Bond and Q.

That's awesome they got Italian super car manufacturer, Ford, in a licensing agreement. Can't wait to see those Mustang mice
Don't Fiat own Bugatti ... ? So, Fiat mice then ...
One of the best pitch I've ever seen 👏 🙌🏾 👌
James didn’t invest in the mouse, he invested in the people.
Fantastic
It's too small to be ergonomic, would the tires prevent it from moving sideways?
looking at the images on their site, the tires appear to be lifted a bit by the body of the mouse, so no issues except maybe when you're picking it up and holding it at an angle, but that's a mouse settings issue, not a mouse issue.
I thought that, but they could always just produce various sizes (there are basically three mouse sizes that make up probably 90% of mice, the rest being full-ergonomic specialty mice like trackball/joystick etc)
It's got a steering wheel
That was my question from the start, but they never showed it's mobility in this show, I'm disappointed.
These are business people. Very smart deal. Can sell it later on and move onto other ventures.
WOOO best couple on dragons den ever so good
I'm addicted to the post pitch catwalk transition music
Great stuff, I love Khan's demeanor and negotiating. He's a really cool dragon

When it walks like a duck. Looks like a novelty mouse, the specs of a novelty mouse. It is a novelty mouse.
Hey Freddy! Loved your games as a kid! XD

Where are they now?
The company's website was last updated in 2015 and no social media posts since 2016. Company House shows the company was dissolved.
Thanks Ron. Appreciate the Company House addition.
They said in 2015 in an interview they sold the company as David had a new idea
You're absolutelly right that the company's activities is the most important factor.
What would you do if you were a dragon?
Love this
Rubber tires? Wouldn’t this resist left and right movement? I like a mouse to be as slidey as possible - in all directions.
I thought the same thing. The mouse is ugly and doesn't even work smoothly!
The wheels are probably elevated
It’s‘executive’ level, so it wouldn’t need to slide around.
@@JJ-em4iq it would still be uncomfortable to move around, no one whether you're a gamer or working in an office likes the feeling of a mouse dragging against the surface they're on.
Im pretty sure its raised and you cant use it like a toy car
Where were the 'Raptures'?
Hopefully it will be this year.
I like this lady's voice and the accent, anyone from any part of this world can understand her, nice and clear
Very nice idea
What a class act. So well spoken, so professional. So British 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
This dude look's like he's outta peaky blinders
They got the dragon they deserved.. professional and well mannered.
This does looks like a novelty item or something they would give out for free in Swag Bags at a tech convention in like the 2000s. I payed good money for an ergonomic mouse that is great for gaming and work.
How does the mouse move along the work surface? Only along the real rubber wheels (back and forth)? If so, how well does the product shift from side to side?
you have to steer the real steering wheel inside the car if you want to go sideways :D lmao
Buy one and find out
It’s a European car it doesn’t go side ways 😂
I can listen to her voice all day.
I remember being a 20 something aspirational person who needed an executive motor-mouse gadget to get recognised at work.

I would be very surprised if these guys are still around lmao.
Classy... all the way!
how does the mouse move around? would the rubber wheels be turning like shopping cart wheels?
That was a great move
Would these mice be any good for the latest Call Of Duty game or should I stick with my Logitech 20 button gaming mouse?
I love this wow

He reminds me of the father in citizen Smith.
If they had left this a few years, a joint deal with Peter and Touker would be good.
yo i got one of these back in 2009 i think. bought by a friend from an airport in dubai. excellent mouse. my first wireless. eats through AAAs quite fast though.

"So, could we move it to 60 - 40, James?"

Such a boomer product .
I get the novelty and build quality but surely someone wanting to get a fancy 'executive toy' like this would go to one of the countless companies that make mice which are well-built and also offer useful software/hardware features? I'd take my Logitech with its actual utility, solid build and genuine executive-fedget-toy scroll wheel any day over a little kids toy disguised as a mouse...
