Mary is one of my five. It is her, LeAndria Johnson, Fantasia, Tamala Mann, and Stephanie Mills. All will have me in tears agaisnt my WILL!! And I love them all for that. I didn't even name Aretha - she's already understood to be on this list. I was not meaning to cry on this.....but Mary got me...again....

If you want more live stuff, its a lot out there but to be honest, some of her best aren't even her own songs. One of her greatest performances to me was at a tribute to Ray Charles, she sung twice, a duet with Elton John of Night Time is the Right Time and then a STUNNING version of Come Rain or Come Shine. There's also her performance of Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word from the Mobo Awards. These clips are old and somewhat grainy but the audio quality is good enough. Then there is the infamous performance of Aretha's Ain't No Way alongside Whitney Houston at Divas Live.

Both were known to perform under the influence, and many people thought great of the performance, that they were both under the influence but that it was the reason for the freedom and emotion behind their performance but honestly, anytime they hit a stage together the energy was like that.
“I’ve never heard anyone sing like this.” Oh, we gotta get you into the The Clark Sisters. They’re a gospel group, but they have inspired a lot of R&B singers like Mary. Singers with that soul and passion.
