Holy fucking shit. I still can't believe that this is happening. Sorry for being late to the party, but I hope my tabs can still help. This song is amazing and I'm so hyped for the album.
Since the band is not recording to a click, I synced the tab to a metronome - likewise to the live videos of Invincible and Descending.

Tabs have been updated according to the corrections listed below!
77: Likely to be played like this, because in Descending is a similar riff. Could also be played on the A string
85: This could also be played on the A and D string. I chose to play it like this, because the hammer-ons to the 7th fret always sound exactly the same to me and hence those positions are more comfortable for me. The second chord could also be 5-3-2-X-X-X
135: Could also be played with pull-offs/slide from the 8th fret to the 7th - likewise to Pushit
147: Could also be played only using the 7th fret
179: Double tracked guitar (one with Wah-Wah, one clean distortion)
186: Could also be played using the 10th and 12th frets from the D-, A-, and E-string

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Adam is using a volume pedal. Although, using the knob would probably sound a lot better on an actual Les Paul, as I'm presuming the pickups and kneck are way better so you'd get a lot more volume with better sound just hammering on.
Don't get me wrong, this sounds really good, but it's not quite right. The sound on the swells seems a little bit dampened, and it also seems like Adam might have a tiny amount of reverb going too.
@@augustgreig9420 Yep, I completely agree with you. And I'm a bit mad at myself that I didn't use any reverb/delay in the intro, because I play it with that now and it sounds so much better :(
@@MaxNiessl i have a 1998 epi les paul all black studio with black winter pickups and it sounds sick. Good job BTW

The thing that surprises me here is that you can actually play this on a Epiphone. I know the knob layout is the same but it doesn't have the same feeling on the neck... therein it just changes the whole vibe of the song..the feel and playability of a certain neck on a certain guitar can affect the way a song sounds man. You definitely got your ducks in a row to make this sound right

I loved this song before, now I love it even more. It's nice seeing what the musician is physically doing on the fret board, it's hard for me to hear an instrument and picture exactly what notes are being played and what type of motions are being executed. You are very talented, makes me want to get my bass restrung finally and play again, you rule!

It's crazy that there are so many guitar covers so soon. I feel that I personally have not quite digested this song enough for me to have fully understood its overall meaning, purpose and placement amongst the rest of the up coming album.
A part of me feels that this song might very well be a combination of every song in the album, or that it was meant (in it's release) to throw the fans off track, by not actually being in the album.

Yes, I agree on the digestive part. I've listened to this song at work without end, but actually digesting a Tool song takes hell of a lot of time! I very often find myself listening to Tool and still discovering new ideas - as well music-wise as other things. I really like this song and the overall feel of the material we've heard. You can definitely see some similarities to Descending in Fear Inoculum.
