My DPE talked about his wife and his career as a retired Police helicopter pilot for 15 minutes for the oral portion (no joke) then grilled my flying for almost 2 hours. Do research on who you pick for your DPE.
A friend of mine was on his checkride and chose to fly the airplane rather than consult his checklist. The examiner said he would have failed if he looked at his checklist because they didn't have enough time to in their hypothetical emergency situation.
Spencer & Amber it took probably about an hour and a half. It depends on how long you drag the guy on if you can't explain something. The cross country planning is the first part and that's generally the most time consuming as well.
You don't need your Multi-Engine rating to get your commercial. A commercial certificate is different for the two ratings. The best way to get your CFI is to of course get your Private first. Instrument added on to that would be a fantastic idea. Then go on to your commercial. You need 250 hours minimum to get your commercial certificate. To get your CFI you need at least your commercial. You don't need your multi and certainly not your ATP.
1 thing to know about knit shirts. Don't hang them on hangers or you'll get little puckery mounds on your shoulders. Lol... ! Seriously, thanks for the checkride advice.

Hi everyone, I am interested in becoming a private pilot in Tucson AZ, I have knowledge on the basics of aircraft maneuvers, pre flight checks, even some experience in controlling an aircraft. What can I expect from beginning to end, and what kind of schooling would you recommend for someone who is on a college budget. What kind of time am I looking at and what is the best way to begin training. I am 18 BTW if it helps any tips and information is great thx.

Great advice. I would say having a back-up plan is critical, if not absolutely expected. It will be challenged for sure.

My school end of course 10 times harder than ture checkride, they just want student spend more money on course.
