Mike Bickle allegations || Lou Engle + Brian Kim (a call to Repentance)

  • In this video, you will see what I believe is a sincere display of repentance from sexual sin from someone considered a great leader in the IHOP KC movement, Lou Engle. He displays humility, giving an unplanned speech, where he confesses before thousands of young people a problem he’s had with pornography. As you watch the video, you will see Mike Bickle praise this man as so instrumental to the prayer movement in the earth. And in this video, you will also hear Brian Kim (IHOP KC leader who brought his voice forward in the allegations) honored as a spiritual son to this leader.
Mike Bickle appears to downplay his repentance and to minimize its weight and severity. You can see him begin to walk around talking on stage when Lou is lifting an outcry to God for repentance. I am not here to judge Lou Engle, but rather point to his example. Mike Bickle expresses what appears to be a deep sense of respect and admiration for Lou Engle.
Therefore, I call on Mike Bickle, to follow the example of Lou Engle and Scripture in public repentance for the harm caused to the body of Christ in humbling of one’s self (in the public forum, as you have preached) or speaking to the allegations presented by these honorable brothers and sons in sincerity. In their midst. Mathew 18. Christ is clear. Nothing short of this is acceptable. "One thing have I asked..."

I firmly believe that Lou Engle’s open repentance of sexual sin and calling for the “walls to come down” in this particular area of sin that this generation is struggling with was a prophetic declaration of how God is going to bring cleansing, healing and restoration from sexual sin. Sexual sin is so rampant today and I believe most everyone struggles with it in one way or another.

Our Heavenly Father is a sucker for a repentant and contrite heart. I see it again and again in the Bible. Apart from David, people of Ninevah (reason why Noah legged it; he knew God's heart) even King Ahab (!). I chuckled when I read it the other day when God said to Elijah (paraphrased): "Oi, mate! Have you seen Ahab, going around broken and dejected? Based on this, what I pronounced on him will not happen in his lifetime."
Shall we sin so grace shall abound? No! What I'm saying is that as long as you are willing to be open and repentant before God and seek the help you need, God will meet you there. He's got you, brother. I pray for your complete victory over this situation 🙏🙏

Mike cannot let the man (Lou) talk, because there is literally another spirit inside of Mike that is attempting to usurp authority over that (Holy) Spirit who is speaking through Lou. It's spiritual warfare --- right there on stage. Mike is going to be "big time guilty" for underplaying this and leading God's people astray. Yes, that's exactly what he did. He was leading the whole audience astray by minimizing the severity of sin. And now he's in big trouble. Mike had his chance to come clean at that very time. But he chose to grieve God instead. Disgusting.

  • @servantofmessiah1071

In my opinion, the response of Mike Bickle here is a clear indication that he was not at that time walking in holiness himself. Otherwise, he would not be minimizing such a thing. If watching a certain show on TV is a sin to a man, it is a sin and should not be minimized. If hitting a rock, rather than speaking to a rock, is a sin to a man, it should not be minimized because God takes it very seriously. For Mike Bickle to be minimizing this --- wow --- right here we have a smoking gun.

On one hand, I appreciate What Mike is saying, because we all struggle with things, and nobody is holy to the point of perfection, and we can live in shame when we fight these struggles. Even Paul talks about the struggle of the flesh that he had. But on the other hand, his behavior, including talking, , obviously trying to control the direction, while Lou is being so vulnerable and broken is Borderline mental. Mike, potentially squelched a revival of brokenness right in this very moment. They should've all just stayed silent and let Lou get it off his chest and cry, and then surrounded him with love. My wife and I are very troubled over this video. Mike's platform Minstry and What went out over the airways was more important to him than being there with Lou in that moment. I agree with your assessment, and I think it’s telling and wrong how they are emphasizing his gifting, talent, impact, and talent when the moment is about holiness, repentance, and absolute/objective behaviour.
I can understand the desire to support, encourage, and remind him in a moment of feeling utterly useless and hopeless that he is not limited to this sin. But it doesn’t excuse it.
Can never 100% trust anyone, especially you don’t know personally. But I really identify with and appreciate Lou’s apparent sincerity, humility, and desire for righteousness. I can’t help but think this kind of unreasonable openness, transparency and anti-religious behaviour is the only answer against the kind of perversion Bickle has hidden for decades.
Especially when he tells the crowd to stop clapping, and especially when he calls himself out mid-sentence, “I don’t want to just call it a struggle. I don’t want to give one ounce of credibility to this sin.” Great inspiration. Hope he can heal and grow and become more and more a real sincere MAN of god.

I think Lou just spoke at House Denver on November 19th. I haven't finished listening to the message yet, but it's on CZcams. I recommend listening around the 23 minute mark where he mentions about Brian Kim, one of the leaders who brought forth the allegations. Well, the message itself is awesome but...that's the only part I found related at all so far 🤷‍♂ I can see why he wouldn't bring that up to a different body of believers, but no, I also haven't see him directly speak to it yet anywhere.

I appreciate you sharing this video clip of a real raw and authentic moment. However, what I hear from Mike in this moment are the words of one trying to protect his friend from over exposure in a public forum that leaves Lou vulnerable to misunderstanding. Mike seems to be differentiating between a person who dabbles in sin and feels really awful about it, repents and tries to resist when tempted and a person that doesn’t try to resist sin, gives in and feels no real remorse and doesn’t confess or repent. Lou is a God fearing man so when he slips up it tears him up inside - and Mike knows this and so seeks to protect Lou from going overboard. Whether or not he needed to, I don’t know, but I do not see this as Mike taking over out of wrong motives. As for the smiling - just looks like an expression of embarrassment for his friend, which we are all likely to do when someone is so transparent.

Hi, I loved reading your response and appreciate you sharing your thoughts here so sincerely. It’s part of why I left the whole video, as I wanted people to see for themselves in truth. Did you get a chance to watch the whole video at the end? I think the contrast between Allen Hood’s response and Mike Bickle’s was also telling, as they’ve both been friends of Lou. Allen seemed to understand it was a holy moment. It's likely Lou Engle or Allen Hood would have wrote it off back then as something more “good-intentioned”…as you pointed out. It’s certainly how Mike framed it, anyways.
However, even if we accept Mike had the best of motives here (as I can understand why you or someone else would come to that conclusion)…I still think the end result of quenching the move of the Spirit and downplaying the weight of repentance would be...not good.
If you start at about 21:50 in the video for a couple of minutes or so…where Lou is crying out to God, it’s clear as you said, a raw and vulnerable moment, where the whole rooms seems to be groaning and lifting itself up in prayer…Mike however seems very out of touch with what the Spirit is doing and is trying to orchestrate behind scenes instead, pulling the ear of the other guys. This happens right after Lou starts sobbing over his son Judah as well (not sure what time stamp that is) but it's like Mike's heart didn't even flinch, and he stays in orchestration mode. I had a best friend who lost a child named Judah and struggled with the issue Lou's talking of...and if he were weeping and becoming vulnerable before others, it's time for me to get low. To be on my knees...to be praying for him...weeping with him. It would not be good of me to downplay his repentance out of concern for the perception of others.
Maybe it's just me, a kid in the outfield, but I think Lou Engle is a grown man and leader who listens for himself to God and can speak for himself. Mike should have yielded to his weight and sincerity in God. I don’t think Lou needed a friend at that hour to downplay his confession and sincerity to be more about “weeping at bad commercials”...you know? It just felt off to me, even then. Even if he only had the "best intentions" to cover Lou (and not himself via the association of ministry and it being the final One Thing conference)...Perhaps there were people, as Lou said, that struggled with deep shame in the audience and didn't need to hear "Oh Lou - he's just being extreme and exaggerating himself here when he sees bad commercials cause he's so sensitive and holy, he doesn't really struggle with that thing that has bound you guys out there!" Even good intentions toward your friend but not Jesus, not the Spirit...can potentially have bad or detrimental effects...right?
All that said, thanks for getting me thinking about it from a different angle. Like I said, it certainly came to mind in light of recent news, but I don't have the definitive answer on what to think or anything. Anyways, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts so respectfully. Stay tuned for future episodes on the Charismatic world and past moments I've been meaning to speak to. Blessings🙏

And Mike didn't let him repent nor did he accept his repentance and forgive him.

IHOP has always been wayward and not of the Lord as least as far back as the early 2000s. The Lord Jesus said He is allowing the wheat and tares to grow together, and His sheep know His voice. He said many claiming Him will hear Him say "depart".
That being said, expect most to need the Gospel, rather than assume because they claim the Lord Yeshua they must know Him and be of Him. That is a grave mistake that has us where we are today. (Matthew 5, 7 & 10 & John 14-15)

He is the one who gave us the model in Mathew 18 that was followed by faithful brothers in the ministry. They didn’t carry stones, they followed the word of truth given by Christ. Mike is not Mary either, and he has shown no signs of brokenness or contriteness. Yeah, I didn't intend to convey it was evidence Mike was living in hidden sin at the time. I was calling Mike to the example of Lou Engle in public repentance before the body of Christ for the sexual sin he was presently found to be hiding. As far as the minimization, Lou was confessing to partaking in the darkness of pornography. When Mike got the mic, he insinuated Lou Engle conflates not turning away when seeing bad commercials as "the same thing" as partaking in pornography stating "it's not exactly the same thing." Sorry I don't remember the time stamp, it's been a while since I posted this. It seemed like maybe Mike wasn’t aware that Lou was going to do that and he was trying to ease Lou a bit, yet at the same time he was also… like robbing Lou of being able to repent. At least from what it looks like. But then again I don’t think Lou would actually need to speak such a thing to an entire congregation? Let alone live to a whole watching world. That is completely absurd to publicly confess like that. I see perhaps that Mike is going “whoa, buddy”… there is no place anywhere in scripture that we are commanded to publicly confess certain sins to a whole world.
When I was young I got into looking at things I shouldn’t. My dad prayed with me and- all praise to God- I have been free ever since. It’s good to be free and walk in freedom and experience freedom. I didn’t need to confess to anyone really. At the end of the day we stand (or kneel) before our Father God, who is quick to love and slow to anger. He is gracious and abounding in mercy. He is the one who breaks chains. I’m glad Lou repented and I do believe God can break the power of sexual sin… we are going to have to cooperate with that. There is no way that a believer is bound to sin. There is no way that a believer is merely pushing back and fighting back against sin. You just don’t do it. You walk (or run) away from it. The very Spirit of God is alive and living IN YOU who believes.

Thank you for sharing your heart brother and I can see your point 🙏
I understand the average person is not called to a mass crowd to publicly repent for their sins. To be fair, the average person also doesn't preach to those mass crowds a message of the "Bridegroom God" and therefore become held to a higher standard of judgment, Scripturally (James 3:1). I have a bit of a different take from you Scripturally. I believe the process of Mathew 18 was followed by honorable brothers in the ministry and that Mike rebuffed those attempts, using intimidation tactics instead. I think that this is why it was made public in his case before leadership and the church as a whole, when he refused to speak to the grievance, as Christ commanded it to be made public and brought before the church in such cases (Mathew 18). I'm with you though "He is the one who breaks chains" I just think in these kind of cases, that may be part of His process.

There is a real Gospel. It begins with humility and repentance, but its fruit is FREEDOM. Lou Engle and Mike Bickle represent 2 sides of a false coin. Either you are in your 50's confessing sin on a stage to perfect strangers (weird and unbiblical) because no one ever discipled you in the transformational power of the Gospel (not to mention you have already been disqualified by Ephesians 5:1-17 and 1 Timothy 3). Or you are pretending and manipulating while hiding your sin, a la Jude and 2 Peter 2 - Mike Bickle. Admittedly the Bickle side of the coin is worse but I am strongly against Lou's behavior and the place of honor he has been given in these false movements.
Why doesn't anyone in these movements know about the true Gospel that SAVES and DELIVERS! Its all there in Romans 1-8.

Hello, I am a millennial, in my home studio, watching CZcams videos
I grew up on Legos, Lunchables, and Eggos
Not to brag, but participation trophies,
      yeah I got those
That was years ago, 3 past 2 oh
BA degree yo, still feel like a niño
Mama called me kiddo when I was eating Cheerios
I still eat cereal, but I am an adult, here's the dealio
I grew up but what's up with all the responsibility?
Growing up is hard enough without your guilt trips
We don't gotta be the same as you to get it

😢😢, why can't we just allow God to do the work, and Pray for this man. Public confessions are really not necessary, in my opinion, and can cause more damage than good. 😮😮😮 I just don't understand church people at all. Seemingly church folk get their kicks, out of other church folk struggling, or struggles. 😢 just sad.

In the case of Mike Bickle, we are not talking about a "struggle" but abuse of the pastoral role within the Church (causing harm) and according to Scripture, it's to be publicly judged (1 Corinthians 5; Mathew 18). Followers of Christ are obedient to His words. As far as Lou Engle, that was his personal decision to come clear about what he felt was a hypocrisy. He did so in the hope of liberating others who were likewise bound in this sin-sick culture.

@@wordsoflife42 I noticed a LOT of very revealing Body Language in everyone on that stage , it was very obvious that it was a train wreck and not honoring of a man ( Lou Engle) who was in a holy and contrite unction of repentance that was sabotaged by Mike Bickle who kept interrupting Lou and inserting his warped false theological rhetoric. Thank God I never felt led of God to listen to his speeches or read his books.

First of all this should NOT of been confessed publicly! It was NOT holy it was disgusting. You do not have to confess in front of the young adults. It is a foul spirit and you don’t spew it out. You are NOT a man of God if you are immoral! Your wicked and in need to repent

While I don’t believe sin is holy, I do believe laying down one’s reputation and humbling of one’s self in repentance before others…is a holy act. That’s likely what Allen was referring to. As far as spewing out on young adults, uhhh…one study found 91% of men used porn in the past month. Others show at minimum 1 in 4. In other words, there’s a serious problem with immorality spewing out among all adults in this area. Lou’s repentance was an invitation for others to repent as well.

This is all ridicules and certainly not what confessing our sins to one another is about. The church needs to stop this foolishness.
None of us is righteous alone.
But we have been made the righteousness of god.
This is not a public display of humility. This is a total public display of silliness and it’s time for us to move away from this and into true humility that speaks of Jesus.

You said "it's time for us to move...into true humility that speaks of Jesus"...could you speak to that some, clarifying what you see that looks like to you? I am in agreement that it's "time for us coming into true humility that speaks of Jesus"...just wondering if you could flesh those thoughts out a little more. I personally find a leader confessing his sins in vulnerability to be an act of humility, but I am open to your thoughts.

Be careful of how you judge people. Please read the Bible because unless you're 100 percent sinless and in perfect standing with Jesus, you might have unrepentant sins in your life. Are you born again and walking personally with Jesus? Are you praying and reading the Bible daily? Are you forgiving others for their sins and praying for their souls to be delivered and healed by God? The Bible says that the same mercy we show others will be the same level of mercy God shows us on judgement day. Please ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you. We all need salvation for our sins and He died for all of us. Satan wants you to go to Hell forever. Jesus Christ loves you.❤

Jesus commands us to "judge fairly and righteously" (John 7:24). In fact, in the "Bible" the Apostle Paul states quite clearly "it certainly is your responsibility to judge those inside the church who are sinning" (1 Corinthians 5:12). @@l.j.1163
