Hurricane Irene just went from a Category 1 hurricane to a Catergory 3 hurricane. Normally as it climbs higher towards the east coast, it drops from strength levels, but it has STRANGELY GROWN.
PRAY FOR THE BEST, PREPARE FOR THE WORST!

@smokink1ll Thanks, we've had a lot worse. It hit mainly north so Manila just got heavy rains and strong winds. There will be more. I have seen really bad storms in Manila where cars get blown over, trees uprooted, my basement parking garage flooded and whole highways turned into muddy brown rivers. This weekend was tame by comparison

@Sonicrush007 we're sort of getting the lightest part of the storm a.t.m, so technically yes, but it isn't that strong yet...
Here in DE. Lots of wind, lots of rain, 5-10 inches of rain. My power isn't out (miraculously) but a lot of other peoples' power is out around my area. It has yet to peak. Weather channel said around midnight it will be closest to DE. Can't wait till this is over!

@Taskdragoon About NY: I told my aunt's 3rd cousin, Billy, that it was just going to rain a bit, but that everybody would be safe. I told my sister's boyfriends best friend's uncle that it would just be a rain storm in NYC. I told my aunt that it would all be fine in NYC. I was right.
I've lived in the UK for 5 years but I've seen MUCH worse than this "hurricane", and it didn't even make the news as I've been unable to find any reference to it, but I remember it like yesterday.

@Sonicrush007 I found the wind to be 50% less at back of my house, I drove out down the road directly on the coast and the Land rover was being tossed around.

@megasrd123 The National Weather Service uses a naming system that alternates between male and female names. So this year it's Arlene, Bret, Cindy, Don, Emily, Franklin, Gert, Harvey, Irene, Jose, etc.

Just to tell you how Irene was strong, i live in Montreal, Canada and we got the last bit of it last night. Trees fell down and we were out of power. Gotta love Mother Nature..or not.

Hurricane Irene was insane! I have pictures of the Hurricane where I live. We lost power for three days.
Lol the dog at the end was like "SHUT THE !@#$ING DOOR"
