Great vid! Helped me troubleshoot the dryer the day before the movers came. My dryer is a 6 cycle Roper from 2007 and looks exactly like the back of the dryer in the video. Fixed it with the thermal fuse and now keeping one on hand just in case.

Great video very informative. I watched it because our dryer wouldn't start. I followed all your steps and found the thermal fuse blown with the volt meter. Taped the two leads that go to the fuse to confirm the fuse bad and to check if there was an additional problem. Power on the dryer started up. Further inspection showed the exhaust port and hose clear but all the Air vents on the back panel were pretty well covered in lint which leaves me to believe that the fuse blew due to the rise in heat from lack of proper ventilation. Thank you very much you saved me allot of time and money.

I need help. I have an older whirlpool gas dryer. After installing a new motor and thermal fuse, it ran good. It was slightly noisier than usual. With the top lid up and the blower wheel cover loose I thought maybe the top of cover was rubbing against the drum. So I pulled up slightly on the cover. When I did that, the bottom part of the cover touched a wire on a switch and sparked. This switch is below the thermal fuse. It has 4 wires. 2 purple, 1 red and 1 blue. Tested the thermal fuse and it checks OK. But now nothing turns on. The whole dryer is dead. Any ideas?

I have this same dryer and has worked very well for a long time. However, last night, after finishing a drying cycle, I went to start another and realized there was now no power to the dryer. Checked the circuit and, yup, it had tripped. I reset the circuit and started another load but was nervous to go to bed because why did it break the circuit? So, I stopped it after about 5 minutes thinking I would inspect in the morning to be safe. When I stopped it, it seemed very hot. Hotter than normal.
Took it in the garage and opened it up and it was very clean inside. About the same as the one you did in this video. Clearly no significant blockages. The aluminum vent hose was also clear and un-kinked. Going into the wall as fas as I could get my hand was also clear. I will try some electric diagnostics tomorrow, but wondering if you may have any ideas why it would trip the breaker?
Great vid BTW =)

my dryer will run for about 50 minutes. It heats up I guess and when you push the start button, it will not start until it cools off. Replaced the thermal fuse and the push to start button, but it is still doing the same thing . What else could we check?

Dryer was making rubbing noise for a couple of days and in a middle of a cycle the dryer quit working
Just purchased a used dryer only to find out it doesn't run at all. I put a 3 prong cord on it to fit my outlet. Would a bad terminal block having anything to do with it not starting?

Doesn't the machine have to be plugged in for the voltmeter to read the current across the fuses? I tried it with the dryer unplugged and got 0 on everything.

You're checking for continuity, not for voltage/amperage. You're making sure current can still make it from one side of the fuse to the other, if it cannot then the fuse is bad. See the first part of the video where he's setting the multimeter.

show us the mutlimeter read outs for fucks sake
He’s checking for continuity. Most meters will give you a beeping tone to indicate continuity. You don’t even need look at the meter to know that there is continuity, for fucks sake..
