Kevin, thanks so much for your video. Like you I bought a used exmark and need to learn how to change the oil myself. I checked out several other video and yours was the most informative. Thanks again!
Glad this helped you out, thank you for watching!
5 years later and still the best educational video ever. Thanks, Kevin !

Best tutorial I have seen on this. Great tips, clear instructions good video.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks. I found it helpful to hold one end of the drain plug with vice grips when breaking it free
Great tip!

No problem!!
Excellent video, Thanks for taking the time to make it.

Thanks for the love!
Dude you rock man. Huge help
Awesome glad this helped you out!
Glad you went with OEM parts, I’ve never recommended going with aftermarket parts with that class of machine.
Me neither
Great video. Thanks! (By the way, my toro guy told me that it is 28 oz per side to fill. (2018 Zmaster model))
Thanks for the info!
You the man thanks for you videos
I appreciate that
Word of caution when checking or servicing your hydro fluid be very careful screwing in dipsticks they cross thread very easy. They are plastic to aluminum.
My first hydro service was performed at a local dealership perk when purchasing a new unit. They cross threaded mine up without me knowing until I checked fluid levels later on. They will still be tight but will not seat all the way down.
Replacements are fairly costly around $60 for both sides.
Good tip thank you!
Easy to understand great video thank you
Glad this helped you!
Great video! Very informative. Thanks
My pleasure!
There is a latch on the back of your seat to pop the seat up and out of the way
Good video 😎

You're welcome
Awesome Video!
Thank you!
Great video, thanks
Thank you glad this helped you out!
You are the best man great bideo.
Glad this helped you my friend.
I have an exmark similar to yours and to get to the hydraulics behind the seat is a lever that allows you to flip the seat forward out of the way for easy access to the hydraulics dip sticks !, also curious as to whether you check fluid level with dip sticks threaded in or not ?, The line you mentioned at the top of the dip stick with the letter H is probably the level line when hydraulic fluid is hot due to expansion I assume !....
I will have to check to see if I have that same lever! From my understanding the fluid is checked when screwed in all the way. That is how I check all my dipsticks. Thanks for watchin'!
I have similar mower its an X series though they typically take between 54 and 56 ounces in trans pumps the H stands for HOT because of expansion
thnks for the info
Excellent video, is the hydro filter part number the same for the lazer z e-series?
Thank you. I would confirm this with your local shop to be sure.
Great video
Thanks!
So there’s just the two hydro filters. One engine oil filter. And the main air filters. Those are the only 4 filters on the machine correct? Loved the video!
That is correct as far as I know unless they are hiding one somewhere I have not found yet!
In line Fuel filter as well
2 air filters
When installing the Hydraulic Filters, do you you put any Hydraulic oil in the filter, b4 installing?
No, there is no way to put oil in them prior to installing.
Can you use a fluid extractor to remove alot of the hydro oil so it doesn't all dump out underneath? Thanks
Yeah you probably could use one. I remember using a syringe to remove some when I overfill it.
Thanks Kevin. Do you need to bleed the hydrolic system?
No just drain the oil and fill it.
@@KReesethebeast thank you
It is not necessary to run forward and backward for 30 seconds 4 o 5 times with the mower jacked up after changing the hydraulic fluid to avoid damaging a valve o something????I saw that in another video and I just want to make sure🙏🙏
The method in this video has worked for me, mower still runs like new I still have it. Not sure your what your question is I'm afraid.
I just bought a new one. Mechanic told me you had to keep adding oil and hydraulic fluid. He said it burns about an ounce of oil for every hour of use. Is that nornal?
Sounds like its got a lot of wear on it bud!
@@KReesethebeast 0 hours on it. 8 hours now
Do you screw the cap in to check or just till it touches?
Just a habit, but I normally insert fully, screw all the way down
He w do you purge the hydro system? Thanks.
No need to purge hydro system that I am aware of. Mine has been working just fine since this video, as a matter of fact just cut grass today, and she runs and cuts like a dream still. Just follow the steps in this video. If you have any questions just let me know. Thank you for watching.
What kind oil are you using in the pumps?
I show it in the video I think, but I want to say it was exmark hydro oil.
Are those parker drives? Hydrogear uses a spin on filter.
I am not sure what type of pumps Exmark uses, but I know they are top of the line if Exmark uses them.
They are parker units
How much oil does each pump take?
Each Hydro pump takes about 2 quarts, as I mentioned in the video.
how much engine oil takes?
I mention it in the video at 9:16.
The H is for hot full mark. After it’s hot should not go higher then H line
good info
how much hydro fluid
does it take?
Watch the video closely
Can hydraulic oil get into oilin engine anyway Kawasaki engine
No not on this one.
you would think the dealer would tell me I need two filters ? idiot I told him I am doing hydro
thanks this is helpful
Yep you need two filters for sure! Glad this helped you out!
hey mr. fix it-
a 22min video & you dont even show my dumbass where on the mower i add the oil . Just stick the funnel down there somewhere huh?!?! pour it in there til its full?!?! (btw....check out the Husqvarna 555 bar & chain oil video on CZcams) 👌
Big yellow cap with an oil can on it, pull it out there is the dipstick, keep it between the lines. If you can check the oil in your car, you can check this oil.
Cool, but you say "guys" way too much, lol.
Haha, yes I have been told, and I am working on it. Sometimes you do not realize how you sound until you listen to yourself! At any rate, I hope you found this video helpful and informative, and I was able to help you save some money by doing it yourself. Take care.
