  • Don't F**k With Cats is the Cat Killer documentary that everyone's talking about.
In May 2012, Luka Magnotta anonymously uploaded a video of the torture and murder of Montreal student Lin Jun to the internet. No one knew where it had come from, but a small team of internet sleuths decided to try to find out.
Director Mark Lewis breaks down what drew him to this astounding story.

    • @Catiisunknown
      @Catiisunknown Před 4 lety +59

Louie Evans i didn't say anything about the title. the point is they acted like a human being murdered was second to the cats and they used it as a means to get the police interested and finally catch him. for the internet it was never about catching a murderer, it was about catching a cat killer. it was insensitive to Jun Lin and it's was disrespectful to his family. They didn't think of the repercussions that he had caused. they didn't think of his family when they made this documentary and if they did shame on them because Jun Lin and his family deserved better than what they got.

@James Bond I think that's kind of the point of the documentary though. People watch disturbing videos all the time, of bum fights, people being executed, burned alive, you name it, etc, and it just kind of gets overlooked somehow, as in there isn't a collective group of people that are going to hunt and find the people responsible for the videos, but the killing of cats triggered an obsession in these people to track this man down, (successfully I might add, so kudos to them, honestly) and that's where the story starts. The fact he killed a human isn't what triggered the search party. If you listen to what the guy in this interview says, I think he is hinting that finding people to give proper interview on Jun Lin was a tricky situation, as he's trying to make a movie about an internet search party that happens to involve real life crimes, and eventually real life murder while not focus too much on the "victim" aspect involved. It would be akin to them trying to track down where he got the cats from, their names, if any, and focusing on the cats themselves, it would make for a very long and drawn out movie that doesn't really fulfill the plot. The very unfortunate part of all of this is that the guy seemed to want notoriety, and now he will get it, but nobody can be blamed for that except for us.

You don't need to justify prosecuting their killers by suggesting they'll inevitable escalate to humans.....except that they invariably do. Too bad Deanna and Co. probably got written off as overwrought cat ladies, if the law kept pace with contemporary developments in psychology, Magnotta would have been locked up a lot sooner and Jun Lin would still be alive.

But we are also forgetting that we see an innocent man seconds before his brutal murder. Where is the respect Jun Lin? This documentary was the best crime documentary I have ever seen because it highlighted so many different areas about crime. The criminal psyche, the role of the internet and social media, the issues of jurisdiction and how we (as the public) react so differently to murders of animals and humans. Very interesting.

But I want to know how to recognize like a narcissist/ psychopath and how to act towards a person like that/ recognize the red flags without possibly becoming a victim. knowledge is key to development.

Talking about him it’s a must because he committed the crimes, but at any moment they say “oh he did this and that what a smart guy, I’m impressed, he’s good at this” in fact the search team call him all kinds of things through all the documentary, even the people that believed him (not his mother obviously, that woman is delusional) like the attorney says how disgusted he was when he discovered the “basic instincts” thing after he believed Many was real. What it’s true is that the director can’t say “oh this is about Jun Lin” because that would be a lie. I do agree that bullying won’t necessarily turn someone into a murderer. That said, bullying in schools is an issue that has still not be properly dealt with. A friend of mine has a daughter that is in 5th grade, and has been bulllied by the same group of girls for the last couple years. And it’s not just picking on her, it’s some sick shit. My friend had done everything she could; she’s gone to the principal and the school board, has talked to teachers and the bullies parents, etc. Nothing changed. She eventually had to move schools. And I’ve heard several similar stories to hers. It’s pathetic. And while a psycho it doesn’t necessarily create, it does give the psychos a boost and a target if they go over the edge.

There are a lot of people defending him like, "There MUST be a Manny, we see two pairs of hands at the end of the 'movie.'" I don't know how, but I'm sure he planted it there somehow as a way to avoid responsibility. Notice how quick he pointed it out once his mom asked him why he did what he did. He's already thought of this. I know that "Manny" and his other accounts share similarities to his favorite movie, Basic Instinct; but it doesn't really disprove "Manny." It's circumstantial at best. What does kind of disprove it for me is the lack of phone records on the night of the murder, when he said Manny instructed him to do this. His demeanor does not match the behavior of a person who was forced to kill. Any normal person would definitely hesitate; and if they actually went through with it, they'd be fucked up after the fact. But he went on business as usual, cold with no remorse. Almost as if he's a person that has just committed murder in cold blood. Hmmm.
Of course his mom wouldn't believes he's capable of this. It's unsettling to realize you've been living with a monster this whole time. And the people that say he's "too polite" to do something like this, it's because he's a coward. He preys on the most defenseless of things, knowing they can't fight back. When faced with almost anyone else, he can't have that same energy. His "kindness" is a result of him being very weak and insecure in social settings. He can't afford to be savage in real life. That's why he hides behind a computer, and targets little animals. Don't fall for this, when people say someone is not capable of such acts because he's either too "polite" or "he wouldn't do this kind of thing." You'd be surprised at how seemingly innocent people can act to hide something dark. Serial killers are disturbingly good at this and get off on it too. Calling Luka Magnotta a narcissist is an understatement. He might very well be delusional enough to believe that Manny is real. He's not the first murderer to blame it on the voices in his head. Don't fall for it again, there is a reason why criminals tend to not admit guilt. If they do this often and long enough, it starts to create doubt in people's heads.
Take Wayne Bertram Williams for example. He did not admit to the Atlanta murders even when there was clear forensic evidence. He was just convicted for the murders of two men. Even to this day, there are people that defend him, saying he's innocent. That's exactly why they do this. For people to say, "He's already doing life. Why wouldn't he just admit to one more murder? Unless he really didn't do it." There are a lot of factors that motivate criminals do this. But for people that kill others for no reason, there are sometimes no reasons why sociopaths do what they do. They might just get off on that too. Creating doubt and inconsistency. Add chaos to order. Sometimes, you can't make sense of something senseless.

It’s really annoying that I keep seeing tweets saying things like “omg unanswered questions: whose hands were those!? who was manny!?”
There were movie references planted by Luka the WHOLE way through the case, all of them were mentioned in the doc, did these people REALLY IGNORE the massive part where it was realised he was making a reference to his literal FAVOURITE FILM Basic Instinct, and the abusive character Manny. Did they actually just ignore that part?
And the hands were 100% the snake handler/owner. Obviously.
And also you’re so correct about the narcissism. He’s not just a casually self-obsessed person. He’s got the form of narcissism that’s a genuine mental illness. But I’m quite glad they didn’t discuss that / realise that he was mentally ill because I would have despised if he got put into a mental hospital instead of prison and got a better life. (Unless they pulled a Nurse Ratched and gave him a lobotomy forcing him to live the rest of his life completely braindead).

I put the blame on Netflix for glorifying "Manny" (and maybe mental illness) in order to force a discussion and get views. This is just legitimizing Luka's bullshit and enabling him to furthermore avoid responsibility. It's no surprise that Luka brought up "Manny" a year or so before the murder. Lots of killers fantasize about it long before it comes to fruition. But yes, the hands are the snake owner's, whose footage was used as a pawn to further Luka's agenda.

The collapse in 2008 killed many people via suicide/poverty. Not one banker went to jail. Capitalism rewards this behaviour. Even doctors when tested tend to score high on having psychopathic traits, you have to have these traits in order to cut people open. Many tests have been done on that. Your average person would struggle to want to take a blade and slice someone open, even if it was for a job and totally legal.
Don't get me wrong though, whilst on the topic of government rewarding psychopathy. It also takes psychopathic traits to kill people for oil and resources. If you see a child being abusive to small animals and other small kids, please take action. I am not saying all will be series killers when older.
I needed to post this here to open people's eyes:
I know a 9 years old child who has been abusing small animals and also small kids when he thought nobody was watching ( he has always been unsupervised outdoors from the age of 3/4) A neighbour approached him and asked if he did something to his cat (as several people witnessed him being abusive to cats), he admitted to him in front of his parents that he had torture and killed some cats ( also to mention that a cat was found killed at his doorstep a couple of years ago, of course it makes you think he did it, but we can't, as we havent seeing it) These parents turned it around and accused the man who the boy admitted to doing this things, saying that he was drunk and he was nasty to the boy. The man wasn't drunk, but probably angry or upset (and I wouldn't have blamed him!) the father knew the guy had a trouble because of alcohol in the past and used it against him, another neighbour, whose son ( much younger) was with the boy when was approached by this neighbour, defended the boy and boy's family because his son was scared, of course was scared, he was with him in at least one occasion when he did it, so he was afraid he could be in trouble as well, my question is how a parent allows a 4/5 years old play with a 8/9 years old?? Anyway, bottom line is that parents are responsible for these kids, they are kids at the end of the day, and if they really care for them, they should be seeking for help instead of being so defensive and try to cover it up.
If not action is taken in time, we can imagine what the child would turn to when older.

Luka said it was Manny/Emmanuel but I’m pretty sure he was just made up in his mind (due to the childhood trauma), but.... he admitted to lying about having mental illnesses. So.... you’re right. Who IS that second set of hands? ...

Look back at it...the hand looks fake as fuck, it's not normal, weird movements. Remember it's one hand only not two. It's stiff, and kind of fat.
If that doesn't do it for you, baudi moving...deana? On her twitter said it was the python owners hand, who was unaware of what was going on. allegedly that was filmed prior to feeding the cat. I don't know though 100%.

After watching this docu series, I watched Jun Lin’s murder video , I wanted to know what happened and I didn’t think it was as bad as it was. It was extremely easy to find on the internet. If you are considering watching it to understand better or just to see what happened, please please don’t. I am traumatized from it. Some may say I’m dramatic but what is on that video is horrifying and has complicated me mentally forever

WoW ! I just watch this documentary and Deanna and Tom are truly amazing people. The determination they had with ups and the downs to finding Lukas Magnotta was daunting. It felt the rabbit hole was just so so deep and never ending at times and to finally see Lukas Magnotta get captured was such an OMG Thank You moment. Thank you Deanna and Tom.
Mark Miller you have made a well pieced together flim to explain this in documentary format to how Deanna and Tom hunted this horrid game of cat and mouse to find Lukas Magnotta.

I absolutely LOVED this documentary! I live in Ontario, Canada and this was HUGE! I remember seeing it all over the news, but I didn't really pay attention too much (new mom, new baby lol)
When I realized who this was about, I was so angry!!!! I felt so bad for the ppl trying to find him and kept warning the police that he was going to end up killing someone and he did! And the end was perfect with a Baudi Moven said that maybe they pushed him, or gave him the perfect place, and that things should change...... we know it won't, but at least they understand it's needed! I loved when he made up the Karla Holmolka thing, that was a joke! Lol

these videos still exist. these people still have an audience. the fact that we are watching a documentary about it does not make us complicit… it makes us aware. the more people who know about it, the more likely it is to get shut down. and, granted, it most likely will never get shut down, however, we do have a higher chance is that happening if we know what’s going on.
if we ignore these things and “don’t give them the attention they want” they will - like i said - STILL have an audience on the dark web. not giving them the attention doesn’t stop them, it only makes it easier to hide

Unfortunately, I do think the "internet activists" had a role in fueling Luka's sadistic journey. I'm not saying they caused Magnotta to murder a person, but they certainly helped to give him the worldwide attention he craved. And though I really respect their passion for animal rights/justice, I believe they crossed the line by stalking him obsessively and inciting others to bully him online. My heart breaks for Jun Lin and the animals as well 🙏

Luka is a psychopath and a narcissist...
It was only a matter of time before he would kill a human as killing innocents kittens would have become boring…
I will even go further… If not caught he would have become a serial killer...
