If you react to Tool, the Tool Army will follow. We all love watching people get exposed to Tool for the first time.
About thirty seconds into this video when I smiled and thought… “We hooked another one.”
This...👌🤘
Yesssss🤘🤘
True story.
Spiral out bro 🤘
Don't beat yourself up. Tool didn't have any of their music on streaming services for years (legal battle) and they were basically invisible to a generation. This is the best band on the planet. Strap in...
Ya know what? I never thought of that. I was in my early 20's when Tool hit the scene, and have always wondered why so many young people claim to have never heard of them. Now I get it! They don't listen to terrestrial radio, and Tool was not available on streaming services until August of 2019. Maynard announced it while on Rogan's podcast BTW.
Keep going MollyBoy. We'll be along for the ride. I'm old, and still crankin' Tool whenever the mood strikes.
Deftones and alice in chains are better
@@Ok-uw3jq Better how? Is there a competition for the better one, or is that just your feeling about them?
Do you see how silly your statement is?
@@Ok-uw3jqYou are entitled to your opinion, even if it’s wrong. And I like AIC. Deftones are ok…
I'm not trying to neg on Tool, but I don't find them particularly interesting. I've tried my best to listen to several songs, but none of them have clicked. I listen to absolutely everything. Opeth is my favourite band and Tool sounds like a student band to me next to Opeth. I'm happy for everyone enjoying them, but Tool is not for me.
Tool isnt just music, its philosophy manifestated into music
The music makes you feel good, but also, listening to lyrics that are smarter and more well read / well rounded than me give me hope that there is more out there than the matrix that is presented to us through mainstream-PROGRAMMING.
Its an actual DMT-Trip - musificised. Watch the people without the sound. There all on a trip (until they remember the tv).
No Tom Morello in Tool, but Maynard James Keenan (the singer here) shows up in Rage Against the Machine's "Know Your Enemy"
Also Tom and Adam (Tool Guitarist) were in a band together in high school called Electric Sheep
@@user-xe3np1ud4z
I didn't know the band name. I guess someone read their Philip K Dick.
@@user-xe3np1ud4z Also: It was actually through Morello that Jones and Keenan wound up befriending Danny Carey.
@@user-xe3np1ud4zLibertyville High Scool, Libertyville, IL. I was a grade behind them in high school
I'm looking forward to this young man discovering Rage Against The Machine
One of the greatest things I've ever seen happen is the newest Tool album comes out, dethrones Taylor Swift, and all of Gen Z lost their shit. It. Was. Awesome.
Taylor did do a cover called
StinkSwift
Look it up 😉
"wHo Is ThIs NeW bAnD cAlLeD tOoL?!?" they said
Oh boy. You made it to Tool. Strap in little bother. It is a hell of a ride. Try 46 and 2 or Vicarious but there are so many cool Tool songs
Pneuma
God, I love watching Tool completely break someone's mind for the first time. Will never get old.
Ænima needs to be your next listen
Too right, always a treat
Molly boy I don't even care if you react to this guy's suggestion just listen to the song
The Pot is just a intro. It's only dipping your toes into what Tool has to offer.. Aenima has many good songs, was my first album with Tool, and still my favorite.
"prying open my third eye"!!!!!!!!!!!!
tools been my favourite band for 30 yrs! Love watching new recruits to the tool army!! 😂❤
Me too... Found them on a compilation CD from College Fest 1994 CSUDH. I think the track was Sober. Loved it and always looked out for their stuff.
Same, my cousin introduced me to them with Aenima, i wasn't quite ready yet... the odd time signatures made me uncomfortable, but then they grew on me and i've never looked back. seen em live 6 times, would have been 7 without friggin covid.....
@@56kwith200ping sober was my first favorite tool song, there have been many since but it'll always be up there, now it's wings for marie part one and two together....
SOBER (LIVE) IS SICK. MAYNOR IS IN SICK CHARACTER
amen sister moon
There is no "best' TOOL song. They are all equally epic. But if I had to pick a long song that could blow your brains out with audio.... "Lateralus" or "Invincible."
And if you want to see bad ass drumming. Danny's live drum cam doing "Pneuma." Brains will melt.
He's not ready for Fear Inoculum album yet! Don't hurt the poor guy. 😅
@@owleye303 I actually found that Fear Inoculum is a great intro to those that are maybe new to metal or don’t really like the super aggressive angry metal of some of their earlier work (like my wife, I hooked her with Pneuma and now she requests this album regularly 😂😎)
@@owleye303I think he’ll be OK with FI. It’s starting someone with Rosetta Stoned that is a dive right into the deep end! 😮😵💫🫨😵
@@owleye303 BAWAAAA
SO true.
lol so true. Walk before you run
Every tool song evokes emotions you won’t expect. This appears to have given you stank face which is quite common 😂 best band in the universe
You know we were all making the same face watching this reaction!
Years later and many listens later… the stank face remains!
Stank face for the win!
The Tool Army will be all over your reactions if you go further and do more. It's great watching people get blown away by their majesty for the first time. Eventually, (if you stick with them) you'll start getting into the lyrics too. Strongly recommend Aenima, from the album Aenima...
You ve stumbled upon the best band ever my friend. Enjoy the journey. If you react to their discography, your subs will double!
Welcome to Tool brother! In service since 1992. Nothing like them. PERIOD. 🌀
You speak the truth, sir. Nothing like them.
You’ve just opened the door to your new favorite band. There is no one better. Great song to start with. May I suggest your next song be The Grudge from the Lateralus album. Enjoy the ride through Tool
Welcome to Tool! Good song as an introduction to this incredible band. Four musicians who are musical geniuses and they are all members of Tool. Loads to spiral out to in their amazing catalogue - Schism, Lateralus, The Grudge, Descending, Invincible, Pneuma (live drum camera is a must too for this one) 46&2, Sober, Stinkfist to name a few. Enjoy this rabbit hole my friend
Agree with everyone. 46&2 and Vicarious after this. But their albums should also be enjoyed as a complete story.
Excellent choices!
I would add The Grudge, but that’s me. But yep
@@Trendkiller196 That's the other song I was thinking would be a great recommendation!
Pneuma, Aenema, Lateralus. You're going to see a lot of comments how you need to 'spiral out' and they are right... time to go on a Tool adventure.
Don't forget the Grudge, please!
welcome to the army, Spiral out! keep going! all their songs are top 10.
Hard to classify Tool as a genre but here we go: Progressive Alternative Hard Rock
That sounds about right!!
That works.
Tool is the genre :)
MAYBE ADD METAL ON THE END OF THAT 👊
Progressive Metal
The lead guitarist of this band was roommates with the guitarist from Rage Against the Machine. Both started in the early 90’s. Tool is like one of the last ones left from that period. Still making amazing music. Good reaction and I promise you if you keep going with these guys you won’t be sorry. Total game changer. That is all ✌️
Uh-oh....now all there is left is to chase the dragon. Finding this same feeling every time there's a Tool song you haven't heard.
Spiral 🌀 Out!
46&2, The Grudge, Aenema or Vicarious. Welcome to your new favorite band! 🌀 out!
I don't know how many times I've gotten goosebumps watching people react to this song for the first time
Great reaction!! 😊 Suggestions: Sober, 46 & 2, H, Stinkfist, Ænema, Right in Two, Schism, Vicarious, Eulogy.... and on and on 😁
You’re about to embark on a journey of a lifetime!
🔥👽👽TOOL👽👽🔥
I absolutely love watching people experience Tool for the first time and have their brain melted....
good choice for a first Tool song.....looking forward to the reaction. go with 46&2 or Vicarious next. and you're welcome :)
Welcome to your new favorite Band. Doing Tool reactions will make your subs explode.
Watching people discover Tool for the first time is kinda my kink.
It took me about 1 minute of Stinkfist for Tool to become one of my favourite bands of all time. Still in my top-3. That was two decades ago. Just saw them live again the other day. Best concerts ever!
TOOL is like your modern day Pink Floyd/ LED Zeppelin and Rush. Someone had to carry on the torch. Leave it to TOOL🔥
Strong words.
True words.
Best comment on Tool I've ever read...because that's exactly what I've always thought...Well, I didn't go as far as including Zep or RUSH, no disrespect to either one of them, but Pink Floyd, in my opinion, had a good torch carrier in Tool...
I always said, no other band like PF, but Tool got very very very close...😎
My two all time bands (if I had to choose) - Pink Floyd and Tool. I have always referred to Tool as the Pink Floyd of Metal.
@@tattoodude8946 Musically tunned-in minds think alike.. 🙂👍
I would need to include early Black Sabbath.
As long as you continue down the Tool rabbit hole I will subscribe to your channel and enjoy your reactions to upcoming greatness. Yes, this song is awesome and all I keep saying to myself is “ oh wait until he gets to Tempest… no wait until he hears Decending, no 46 & 2 wait…..
Oh my goodness he has a loooong way to go to listen for the first time to such a big discography of hit after Tool hits. Enjoy the ride buddy.
Finding lyrics to the songs are important. Maynard writes some thoughtful, introsoective stuff. Progressive rock genre. Inventive and creative like Pink Floyd the way they sound like no other rock band. So much individual talent working together seamlessly.
This one is hard even with the lyrics. Lmao
But for sure with the others...lyrics are important
Goose bumps is the exact reaction we expected you to have. If you don't get those, you might have to check your pulse to see if you're alive. You are definitely brought back to life by Tool. That's what it feels like.
My girlfriend gave me the TOOL album _Opiate_ for my 18th birthday. I'm now dangerously close to 50 years of age, and TOOL has been one of my favorite bands ever since. It was _an event_ when a new TOOL album was released. I remember my friend and I skipping school and waiting at the mall for the truck to show up to deliver the new album (Aenima) to the CD store. We had to wait all day, but I'll never forget driving around and giving that now-classic album a first listen. It was such an experience. These reaction videos have brought my love and appreciation of TOOL to a whole new level. I get chills when I see someone click into what makes these artists so special. Wow, I did not intend to write this much.
One last thing. That girlfriend that gave me my first TOOL album? She's now my wife.
Lucky man that this is new to you. Its special no doubt...start from the beginning, the progression is crazy
Welcome to Tool my dude. This is only the beginning…the rabbit hole is very deep my friend. Excellent musicianship, song writing, tone, feel. This band is incredible. This is music than can change outlooks on many things.🤘
you may hear Tool fans say, "Spiral Out" and once you react to Lateralus it will make sense.
❤️🌀
And then other grumpy tool fans like myself who roll their eyes whenever they hear it. I can't help but see it as the 'pickle rick' of tool. Amazing song, of course.
@@merkaba48 Spot on mate... personally, when some new fan says "spiral out" to me, I perform the iconic part of The Grudge.
sooooo many good songs...... "sober" is one of my favs..... the base riff is killer in that one
Gotta be the live version.
@@zippymacadoo6336no it doesn’t, the music video is quite enjoyable
your favorite Tool song will be the one you havent heard yet.......all their songs are great. also, the lead singer fronts the bands A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.
I was in high school in 1993 when I heard about this band I was literally blown away. I’d say 10,000 Days is their best all around as I truly believe it’s their peak performance. It’s a very personal album to Maynard. There’s something from every album that you will love. Trust.
A lot of people say their favorite Tool song is the one they’re listening to at that moment. Enjoy!
💯
American here. I met my husband in 2014. He's Scottish. He immigrated over to the US in 2015. I told him about Tool and they are his favorite band. We saw them in Memphis in January 2020. Their time signatures are amazing.
Welcome to the world of Tool.
They cover Led Zeppelins song No Quarter - that alone should say a lot about Tool and Led Zeppelin. You should do both bands version and compare. Lucky to have seen them live and been rocking them since I was first learning snowboarding and they just came on the scene. DEEP Rabbit hole on this one. You have so many bands to discover.... 46+2
Tool is a great surprise! Can't wait for you to dive deeper in there great music
ALL their songs are on TOP
That joy you feel when someone brings Tool into their life. It always feels so good 🤗
Oh shit! You just called down the Tool Army. "Spiral out!"
Loved hearing this song live 2 weeks ago!! So amazing in concert!!
Spokane?
Idaho Falls?
Kelowna, BC
Welcome to the rest of your musical life, you've got some catching up to do but I'm here for it 👍
Tool is IMO the best so called progressive rock band in existence. Buckle up for a wild ride...and then when you think your done you can go and listen to 'A Perfect Circle' same lead vocalist different band members. Enjoy them all and please share them with your mates!
This song is SOOOOOO Intense. Tool Formed in 1990 and have been one of the most popular bands in music history ever since the mid 90's. 😃😃 WTF is right. This slays Alligator balls.
Remember when the sober video came out?
saw them again for the second time in 12 years in toronto on the 20th of november. they were even better than the first time i'd seen them and 3 of the 4 members are _much_ closer to 60 than 50 now. the craziest thing to me is that danny is the oldest and _over_ 60 years old still playing a two and a half hour set playing their craziest songs still night after night. gotta respect the crap out of all of them, but watching justin shaking the tightness out of his hands after every song is so understandable to me, i have no idea how he can even play the bass like that at all, let alone for two hours plus straight, over and over again.
Brother. Even if you don`t react to this band ever again, you WILL keep listening, as long as you`ve "listened" to one (1) of their songs. S. O. forever.
this is the best Tool gateway song for a good reason :D
Welcome to the TOOL army, brother!
Listening to any Tool song is a journey!
Yes!! I equate it to a religious experience. I know many of us do. It's exciting seeing new fans being made.
You DO NOT want to miss the Tool rabbit hole. Life changing stuff bro, trust me, there's no one better. So how do u approach them? I recommend going in chronological order starting from the album Ænima. Take your time if you want, but no skipping songs! Sometimes there's a 1 minute instrumental "prelude" to a longer song, so you can pair those together for the reaction. I genuinely think this will be the most rewarding and enjoyable way to take this journey. Much love
No love for Undertow? It’s a killer album.
Of course, Undertow first.
Can't skip Undertow, that's where it started (unless you count Opiate)
I started with Aenima as my first album from them back in the day then went back to Undertow as had heard many of the songs like Sober and Prison Sex. Their album covers and artwork were epic! Been on the journey since…so glad they’re being introduced to so many more now. About damn time!
Opiate is essential
"I reckon, out of all the Tool songs, this is probably the best one." 😂🤣😂
Forty Six & 2 is a good one to do for your next Tool. Aenima is the greatest dis track I have ever heard. So many great tracks.
I was going to suggest this,...😅but wasn't sure if you were ready!!!😂
Maynard James Keenan is a true genius artistically and musically and in real life I'm so happy that you've discovered him and just one of his multiple bands...enjoy brother welcome to the fan club.😊
🤘🤘🤘 Let's go! James Maynard Keenan on vocals (legend), Adam Jones on guitar, Danny Carey on drums (legend), and Justin Chancellor on bass. Amazing band with some truly amazing music
Maynard James Keenan, otherwise, absolutely agree.
Also, great reaction. The Tool rabbit hole is deep and Tool are life-changing, if you let them, hence the name Tool. Use the music and messages as a tool to inform your life.
The band has been making music for over 30 years, and I've been a fan for over 20. Yes, this song is a great introduction to Tool, but the best advice I can give you is to listen to the first EP through to the latest release, "Fear Innoculum". They don't have a bad song, so no matter how you choose to experience them, you will come out the other side better than when you went in. Just sayin'.
"Sober" and "Schism" are two early hits but are still favorites of mine...
Progressive Metal
Probably the best song for an introduction to Tool. That said, this is an incredibly deep rabbit hole. Enjoy!
Also, you've been reviewing a lot of good music... was wondering when you were going to get to the pinnacle (along with Rush, Primus, etc.)
“Of all the tool songs, this is probably the best one”
Homie, every tool song is the best one.
Came here to see how many thought the same! Every song will be a life changer if it’s the first one you ever listened to.
Reasons I rewatch this video...
1. The shear disbelief and deadpan shrug at the camera...so MFing legendary
2. Stankface
3. The evolution of your face from 6:07 - 6:15
Again, legendary
4. Molly gets it, it's just a great freaking song!
they have so so so many great songs!!
Can't imagine hearing this as my first Tool song as I had to wait almost 14 years after I started listening to them to get treated to little gem. As for where it ranks in Tool's catalog is very debatable because they have written so many great songs. For me, it's definitely in my top-10 but maybe not in my top-5, so keep listening and I'm certain you will enjoy your journey!
Definitely more tool brother!!! One of the greatest to ever do it. They are they're own genre of music
They keep getting better, whatever you pick.. and the drummer is another level.
I’ve been waiting to suggest Tool. If you like this, prepare for an experience.
Check out live performance of “Sober”. His vocals are amazing live as well.❤
For sure, live sober, and I have seen a lot of reactors do that one. So, no copyright stuff it would seem. Though, I don't honestly think tool cares much if people are reacting. I see a lot of vids out there.
TOOL Is not just beautiful music, it's a Lifestyle 🫶💯
Take the Tool journey 💥💥💥 30 yrs listening and never more amazed by the music and lyrics. They have matured to masters. 60+yrs have seen many. 3 Tool concerts all 🔥🔥🔥
I was never a big Tool fan never gave them a chance but when I found this song it was like discovering a new band, and they have a lot of other great Tunes❤
I'm not going to try to take credit here (well, maybe a little), but I suggested Tool to you on a couple of your Pink Floyd reactions. SO GLAD you did it, and I'll bet you are too! They're obviously a lot harder than Floyd, but there are similarities in that the music is very complex and interesting with meaningful and creative lyrics. Lots of great songs to pick from and the Tool army will really boost your subs.
Been a regular listener to this song since release in 2006, and still I get multiple rounds of goosebumps from it! ❤
I'd put this one in the top 10 for sure, but probably not the top 5.
Welcome to the TOOL rabbit hole. You won't regret it.
This is your first listen to Tool and it's your favorite. I will say the next song will be your favorite and so on..... Have fun! 🌀✌️
More Tool
First time ever hearing Tool "The Pot" reactions are the best of the best. Watching new Tool fans be born brings me joy.
Love how you keep wanting to comment and start to, but then another intriguing sound enters the periphery, you pass on your thought and just continue listening.
Always great watching someone enjoying the epic, gripping the safety bar, ride from beginning to end.
Definitely not their best song in my opinion but it's generally recognized as one of the easiest songs of theirs for a new listener to digest.
Baby steps down the rabbit hole. Lol
Depends on who you ask for opinion. It is in my top 10 of Tool (being fan from the early 90s)
But perhaps the best gateway song for the unitiated.
@@Ajonr Totally agreed
Tool's concerts are MIND BLOWING!!! The visuals and colors remind me of Pink Floyd shows. I think of them as a modern Pink Floyd..although their sound is different.
Cant wait to see them
Jan in Baltimore.
I love seeing people hear Maynard for the first time. I remember when I heard Tool for the first time in the early 90s when they first came out. My head almost exploded. The voice, the music… they were perfect.
No words is a great reaction to hearing Tool for the first time. Mind Blown!! Love it.
EP dropped in '92. Four studio albums through 2006, then 13 years until Fear Inoculum in 2019 (they are now late 50s through 61 years old). Still amazing. Some describe them as the Pink Floyd of their generation.
I just saw them 2 weeks ago live. They didn't miss a beat. I thought I was the old guy at 65 but it looks like the band is right there with me.
The power of Tool's music is very much intoxicating, like a drug, but for your brain instead of your vein...
Just keep the T👁️👁️L coming 🤩🤘🔥
Not Tom morello in tool but the legendary Adam Jones. Tool is like no other band you’ve heard. Hope you go deep into the rabbit hole. You won’t want to climb back out 🤘🌀
And here we are, we're in this room now.
Bro ... Tool Is the best band ever...the rhythm...the quality...the mixing...everything together...is unbeatable...listen more...you'll freak out 😅
Great song yes, not even top 15 for me. They have many
There is a saying “ my favorite tool song is the one I’m listening to!” Each one hits different and in a different way….. it’s like saying what your favorite color is…. well what mood am I in????
Tool fan from Australia... love the reaction, i was listing to tool in my 9th year in high school, I was 15 (1998).. and still listen to Tool to day.
As good as this song is, it is very straightforward for Tool.
You definitely want lyrics for all their songs, and it doesn't hurt to do some research on song meanings. These guys have multiple layers to their songs. Sometimes the rhythms have as much to do with the meaning as the lyrics do.
One of their better known songs, but certainly not their best. Wicked trip ahead 🤘🏼👁🌀🌀🌀
I have been a tool fan for almost 30 years now. I started with the song Sober from the album undertow. I can tell from your reaction you are hooked! I suggest starting from the beginning for the progression, or pick and choose. Either way, it can be an awakening, tool has an ability to bring you to another understanding, a way of connection. I have subscribed, every tool song great, it will be interesting to watch your journey.
Tool has been my inspiration for many many years. I loved watching you hear them for the first time!!!!!! Love it!!
