- Alexander Ovechkin, John Carlson and Marcus Johansson had a goal and an assist each and Ilya Samsonov turned aside 29 of 30 shots as the Washington Capitals crushed the Florida Panthers 6-1 to grab the lead in their first-round playoff series 2-1.

I went and I’ve never seen capital one arena so pumped. Sammy was spectacular, and the guys played amazing

I'm not sure how many people noticed but mantha was on the ice for the first 4 goals
He had his best game as a Cap (except maybe his two goals in less than a minute @ Montreal)
When he played for the wings he didn't even try to play defense guess I'm still disappointed he's fast he can score.

Playoff hockey is a beautiful thing. A team that leans heavily on highly explosive offensive output and OT victories has difficulty with a less stacked but experienced veteran team.

As a Canes fan, I realize I have no dog in this fight, but while I despise the Caps and Cats, I picked the Caps in 7 to pull off the upset. 2 reasons why: playoff Ovechkin and the President's Trophy Curse. Florida could very well pull off something remarkable, but the Curse knows no mercy. This has been a dogfight of a series so far
Capitals know all too well what expectations are like and letting it get to them. They showed a stat today on the Capitals having 17 cup winners on the roster. That's valuable experience.

Вратарь хорош тогда, когда защита не позволяет его расстреливать. Обычно вратарей Вашингтона расстреливают в упор, говоря мол нет вратарей у них.... сегодня наоборот получилось Флорида без защиты.

What a dominating 6-1 win! Haven't seen of those in the last few post seasons in a while! Also, by winning 2 games in this series, they have improved on their last 2 playoff round 1 outcomes where they lost in 5 games in both (losing in 5 games to the Islanders and then 5 games last year to the Bruins).
By the way, Barry Trotz, the coach who helped get the Capitals their 1st Stanley Cup was fired by the Islanders! They lost Jordan Eberle to the Kraken and traded away Nick Leddy for Richard Panik(who didn't play a single game), 2 big losses. Apart from this season, I think Trotz did a good job with the Isles, helping them reach the Eastern Conference Final in 2 consecutive years.

People kept doubting the caps before game 1 and talking about how good the Panthers are, then I caps win game 1.... game 2, panthers ran away with it and beat us.... and people talked again about how the caps aren't doing it. Keep doubting the caps. It's rare that we get to be the underdogs in the postseason.

Anyone who watches Caps hockey.... knew that the Panthers weren't much of a threat. At least not the way the announcers and fans made them out to be. They're good and had a great season, but I'll take the caps and their experience all day.

@@GregHelms420 Well for starters, panthers have only been to the playoffs a handful of times since 1996. Leafs have lost in the first round 8 times since 96. Cats have only made the playoffs 6 times since then and lost in the first round in five of those.

LETS GO CAPS! Boy do I miss my season tickets - section 417 row H seats 9 and 10 from 2006-2012. Upstairs but dead center ice. 2006 they were $1400 for the pair 2012 they were $4200. They priced me out. Sad really I was there when they sucked under Hanlon and Verizon Center was half empty (now it's called Capital One Arena) Boudreau righted the ship immediately but he couldnt win in the playoffs. Oh well, my son and I had a blast for those 6 years.

Да, игрок, влияющий на заряженность команды, это огромный фактор, на самом деле. Пока вижу таких двух на всю НХЛ - Овечкина и Павелски в Далласе. Плюс Овечкин еще и капитан. Наверно, еще какие-то ребята есть, но эти двое реально очень сильно влияют на свои команды.
