Another match in which Federer was destroyed by Nadal is Rome 2013 final. 6-1 6-3 and Federer was lucky to reach 3 games in the second set. That victory was overwhelming. In my opinion, Federer was humiliated more in that match than Roland Garros 2008 final.
Rome was on clay, same with Roland Garros, so Nadal was expected to win.
While in this game he just destroyed Federer on a hardcourt.
Lol. Federer lost that match. He destroyed Nadal in winners but comitted too Many unforxed errors as Well

Hardest working tennis player ever! 👊
Literally for most of the season Djokovic was the only guy who could beat Nadal. Would've been an amazing year for Nadal but Djokovic was at God mode that year
It's the main reason why Nadal hasn't defended a hard court title.
Nadal played tactically abysmal against Djokovic in Wimbledon Us open and Madrid and Rome , Nadal wasn’t that good in 2011 and needed some adjustments in his game which he did in 12-13 and got his revenge against Djokovic by beating him in 6 out of 7 matches

What year was this Match?
2011
I love nadal's unique style of hitting ball with heavy topspin that makes him completely unique from the rest.
hey I wish I was there to see close game that captured the world on ends is just the beginnings to see the best to last overalls I would at least admire the crowds applauded to the very end of the game both did well but I need to see at the aspects of both winners!
I saw here that Nadal made complete use of the wrist-flick that he uses to add top-spin and side-spin to his forehand shots. Most of the net returns by Federer were a result of that. Great game!
Infact, Nadal can beat Roger from 2006.
Great Vid!
Nice, Bian
Power of Nadal...
What says Nadal to federer at the end of the match?
It is pleasing to watch Federer play that backhand so effortless and his reflex is amazing...It wasn't Federer's day but what an artistry he brought to the game...Win or lose you can't stop admiring this guy.
That good ol days with Sony ericsson phone :D
Worst beating Nadal ever gave federer was at the 2008 French open and the worst federer ever gave Nadal was at the 2011 atp world tour finals
Interresting to see when most of Federer fans says the highest level of Rafa on hard has never reached the level of Federer on hard and ironically he played Federer there. Only this match prove the opposite.
I don't think this match was prime Federer. You could have used a better example...
Maybe AO 2009?
Either way, Nadal's hard court peak is exceptional. Look no further than US Open 2010.
Carson Kizer Of course AO 2009 was a better example and I gave it already to Brunkle in our recent discussion.
What would you say to Fed fans who say that it doesn't take skill to hit to Fed's backhand all the time? Of course when Federer meets an opponent who is weaker on one side he would do the same thing!
Jeffrey Kaufmann Every players will use the weaknesses of their opponents... Did they really say that? Lol...
@@stuewz yes.A Federer fanatic who thinks that the only thing Nadal does is hit to Fed's backhand.
Miami has always been an interesting location in the Fedal rivalry. On one hand, Federer has proven to be more successful at the tournament, winning it in 2005, 2006, and 2017, but Nadal has always been a problem for him on the surface, going 6-5 in sets played between the two there. This is because of the high bounce that the extremely slow courts there. It gives Federer a natural disadvantage because of the relative difficulty of hitting a high ball off the backhand for a one-hander. On a slow court, the bounce is elevated, forcing Federer to come up with new strategies to beat Nadal (as shown in their 2017 encounter). Just a little food for thought!
On a side note, Nadal played really well here. As some guy said down in the comments, he would have had an amazing 2011 season if not for Nole reaching his highest level ever that year.
Carson Kizer Nadal player poor against Djokovic in 2011 from Madrid onwards
This sums up why h2h doesn't mean a thing. Nadal has a winning h2h against Fed at Miami but hasn't been able to win the tournament.
Sollvi H uhhhh...roger has the winning h2h at Miami...rafa has this and 2004...he literally said that in his original comment.
Sollvi H it’s equal in Miami. Nadal won in 2011 and 2004, fed won in 2005 and 2017.
@@goxaviergo11 oops, you're right. Doesn't change my argument though. H2h doesn't mean shit.
The ad on the net did not age well :)
There is one clear thing that separate Rafa from Roger......Rafa is capable of taking him dowm on hards courts but Roger cant do the same on Clay.......That is what make Rafa better.
Exactly
But Roger's favourite surface is grass where he has a better h2h against Rafa.
Carlos Ivan you do know that Roger has bageled Rafa on clay right no disrespect to Rafa

Can you do a day Wawrinka or Nadal destroyed Djokovic? Or Day Murray destroyed Federer? Lol just some ideas, I can’t recall their most dominant performances since all of them are so close
Wawrinka never destroyed Djokovic, their matches were always super competitive. Although I can remember several matches where Nadal totally outclassed Djokovic and the other way around. That's what I love about their rivalry you can never know who's gonna come out on top
Not interested in the supposed destruction. But rather, a notice in how their techniques here are noticeably a bit different than what they have now. Again demonstrating both players’ willingness to improve and evolve.
Nadal's forehand technique was better here. It was the best in 2013 however.
Caleb Pereira In 2013, it was more of a shot selection than technique. What he did was he started going down the line much earlier in rallies. Players were use to him patiently waiting for the opportunity, so he practiced hitting that shot earlier in rallies and then exploiting it in that season. Since then he’s added the occasionally more frequent use of forehand slice when needed, hit more drop shots to name a few.
@@JiraiyaSama86
That, too, but I do think there were adjustments made in 2013, as he seemed to hit more of those across-the-shoulder, flatter forehands, and from deeper in the backcourt, in actual matches.
He usually does that in practice but is more frugal in actual matches, and only does it only when he has an easier position from inside the court.
As for his backhand, I'll have to look into it, but I do believe it had great depth throughout the USO.
Strong backhands n forehands plus sharp angles. Has Moya studied these?
Dustin Brown watching this.... This nadal guy is meat pie to me
I think the image on the video is a picture of rafa in indian wells 2017 when roger destroyed rafa

Nadal made the best Tennis in History 🙌
So so good
The same time as I did with my iPad
The best game ever
You can see that something is off about Roger's usual accuracy, hitting the tape many times, not getting his feet quite into position, volleying too much down the middle, no zip on the volleys... Like he was fighting his timing the whole match. It doesn't take much of a dip from the usual deadly perfection to get beaten by a relentless pressure player like Nadal.
Nadal fans: weak era champ
Federer fans: Nadal’s game is boring and he’s doping
Djokovic fans:meh

And this is not even the best hardcourt version of Nadal.
Meet August-to-September 2013 Nadal, who destroyed even Nole in that first and last set at the USO.
Uso 2010 i think is the besf version of Nadal on hard.
Not to discredit Rafa here, he was playing amazing that summer, but Nole wasn't quite in great form in 2013 at the US Open tbh. He seemed off after those losses against Nadal at the french and Murray at Wimbledon. 2016 Novak at Doha against Us Open 2013 Rafa would have been an interesting battle.
Novak was off colour....He didn't destroy Novak in the first set. It was error ridden performance...
..Fourth set was a mentally poor performance from Novak because of the disappointment of losing the 3rd set after dominating it....
Novak hired Becker to tackle with these mental issues.....
Nadal has always been better than Federer. He has beaten him most of the time.
not really, 24-16 for Nadal although the majority of games were on clay (16 with 14 for Nadal on clay, 3-1 on grass Federer), clay has 3 masters 1000 tournaments while grass has 0 !!! If it was the opposite you would say that Federer is better just because they played more on grass on which he's better
Nadal is better on Clay, and that's it...
Only on clay. On hard and grass Federer bear him more.

Because on clay everybody expects Nadal to destroy Federer.
The difference between Nadal and Djoker is that Rafa dominated Fed during
Roger's prime before he turned 30.
Nole dominated Roger after Fed was already 32 to 36. Nadal had a much more difficult task at hand
and all you have to do is watch Wimbledon 2008 and AO 2009 finals. Those were the best two matches
of all time IMO. Federer was playing at a very high level but Nadal was totally in domination mode.
It's fair to say that in 2011 and 2015 Doker was almost untouchable and I have never seen a tennis
player perform at such high level. Maybe McEnroe in 1984 but I'm not sure.
Prime Crypto fed 2005-2007 is the best player in history
Ertugrul Körpinar Lol you are completely blind . I see you write that everywhere, you are trying to convince you. Nole reached the highest peak in tennis history and almost everybody agree. Fed and Rafa comes after and their peak was at the same level, even if for me Rafa’s peak was higher considering the quality of opponents he faces. Can you deal with it now?
There is no domination in wimb 08 and AO 09 both matches went to fifth set and it could have gone either way especially the aussi one that Fed himself handed to Rafa. This same year Fed toyed him in the wtf final
