    I found that using minimal top notes allows the heavier base notes to trap the lighter molecules of the citrus. It dissipates a little slower. Also using citrus florals like May Chang, Orange Blossom and Linden Blossom.
    The Celestolide musk has a lime citrus nuance. This can make your citrus appear to last longer. But to me, I found that the more fixatives you have, the less projection and silage you get. Just my experience

      benzyl benzoate is a natural fixative and a solvent. Solvents can be natural. Clearwood, Patchouli, gurjun balsam, copaiba balsam are nat. fixatives.

    Question: Some alcohol is more smellier of alcohol than others, and especially outside the US it's difficult to get a good price on alcohol with very little smell. Will the fixative (like benzyl salicylate) increase and extend the smell of the alcohol too....?

    • @DenverDave
      @DenverDave  Před 3 lety

      That is a good question, no. It will not change the evaporation rate of alcohol.

    Can I ask, how do fixatives and aldehydes interact and affect each other?

    • @DenverDave
      @DenverDave  Před 4 lety +1

      The only material that reacts to ALD's is methyl anthrianilate. It has a reaction to other materials as well, FYI. But fixatives and ald. don't negatively affect each other.

    • @WmAnnis
      @WmAnnis Před 4 lety +2

      (I know I'm not Dave, but I can say:) fixatives do the opposite of projection. They cling to highly aromatic molecules so that your top and middle notes last longer.

    Can you mix fragrance oil with essential oil in making perfume

    • @DenverDave
      @DenverDave  Před 2 lety

      Fragrance oils usually contain essential oils so you can add more essential oils to your Fragrance Oils. To be clear, fragrance oil’s are typically purchased for making soap, candles, oil perfumes etc. However, I never use fragrance oils to create perfume. And I would tell you to not use fragrance oil‘s to create perfumes, even oil perfumes. Dave
