Finally a video. Welcome back, You look fantastic. thank you for the info, the craziest fixative in perfumery is actually water. it takes everything and bring them together and fixes the composition. It also gives projection. 2 ml of distilled water in a 100ml is the ratio. Water is very underrated!

Wonderful to hear your story with Z11 MIP. I fell in love with this ingredient at first sniff. Originally I thought it would serve as a fixative ingredient due to it's molecular weight and descriptors... boy was I wrong HAHA. Placing it with a series of beautiful rich ambers with trace elements of Bergamal and saffron threw me into another universe. I felt like it became a wood dipped in molten silver. When you said "metal hot and sand warm" I could only nod my head in agreement. So much potential.

100% agree: Everything changes once these molecules are on skin! Have you considered trying a small usb heater? I find this helps to activate molecules on scented strips when you are unable to test on skin or out of space.

Hello! Now I realize that the only real way to learn your materials is to experiment with them, however there are some materials that just do not lend much of a clue how they should be used; moreover quite frankly they _stink:_
    Adoxal
    Clonal
    Ethyl Phenyl Acetate
    Ambergris (Ollifac)
    Lauric (Aldehyde C-12).
C-12 I'm aware has to be greatly diluted to know it's floral quality; I diluted Adoxal to 3% and it's still unpalatable; Clonal at 5% is kinda leathery, and at 2% is very floral. What I accidentally discovered about EPA is out of the bottle it _really_ smells rank (like feet in socks that've been in boots for 3 days), but when in contact with another material it transforms and enhances dramatically in a good way. Just one more, Ambergris, I seldom hear perfumers really talk about how fleetingly it behaves in a formulation (AlLOT of people are over spraying Invictus lately I've noticed without knowing any better how easily it can be overdone.

Another way of describing this that I've found is to relate it to engineering and construction.
When you want to build something, you want cohesiveness, you want structural integrity. Fixatives and workhorses can bring your fragrance together. It's like the difference between a dry mixture of cement, sand and aggregates without water, versus when you add water. One is just a dry mixture of materials. The other is well blended, and the materials are then able to lock into place forming something with a strong structure. (you can still make concrete not strong, though - and you can still mess up a fragrance even if you use the right workhorses and fixatives)
As with so much in life, structure is everything.
