  • Although a second edition means exciting new game play possibilities, it also mean new expenses for gamers. In this video I look at exactly how much it will cost veteran players to bring their squadrons over to X-Wing Second Edition as well as ways to help mitigate that expense.

    It seems like anyone playing has been doing their game testing for them. By making the first edition obsolete, they are admitting that they were selling cap. Why can we not turn in our proof of purchase tabs for a free upgrade kit?

    • @garretthook7253
      @garretthook7253 Před 6 lety

      I wondered the very same thing. Having to pay so much to play the balanced version of the game seems unfair. Especially when you’re not even paying for ships, just pilots and upgrades. Turning in POP tabs should credit you to get a free individual conversion per ship. That would be honoring long time players and doing right to fans. Why do we have to pay for the dev’s “expanding” the game if we want to stay tourney legal. Dumb

    I find it interesting how there is a sudden increase of people putting their x-wing collection for sale online, right after the 2.0 announcement. Atleast in my country.

      I stopped playing around wave 9 and 2.0 is bringing me back. I'd be down to snap up someones ebay collection unfortunately there aren't a lot of collections that span from wave 9 to 14

    Good video! Yeah it sucks forking out extra money after spending a bunch over the years... but this game needed to evolve. I don't mind, just gonna have to tighten the budget up a bit.

    Seriously, guys! Do you have any real idea how much stuff they crammed into those kits? Many of you all would gladly drop that kind of money for a new wave. Why are you so negative now? New updated rules? This is THE fix we have been advocating for! 100 pilot cards, 170 upgrade cards, four medium base apparatuses, a crap ton of cardboard, PER KIT, at almost the retail price for a Ghost expansion. This is awesome. I don't know about y'all...

      TurboCMinusMinus are you expecting charity?

    • @aaronjones1666
      @aaronjones1666 Před 6 lety

      TurboCMinusMinus if you do the math, in a conversion kit, you are paying a little over $1.35 per ship IF you are paying retail. And if you have been in this for any decent amount of time, you will know that you can always get it for less than that.

    • @TableTopNeverStop
      @TableTopNeverStop  Před 6 lety

      Ric & Morty yes. But I imagine a lot of the conversion kits will end up on eBay. You’ll probably be able to pick up individual ships there.

  • @aaronjones1666
    @aaronjones1666 Před 6 lety

    It is called eBay. Also, if you are in a gaming group, you can consider trading what you have in the conversion kits that you won't use for more of a ship that you will... Just saying.

    • @aaronjones1666
      @aaronjones1666 Před 6 lety

      I am sure that sellers will also split up the kits online anyway. If you are bent up about the price, buy your ships individually.

  • @Wh0isTh3D0ct0r
    @Wh0isTh3D0ct0r Před 6 lety +3

    If you need enough copies of EVERY kind of ship to be able to fly EVERY POSSIBLE 100-pt squad list, then you're doing it wrong; you just have an addiction, and it's probably best if you do step away from the game for a while. Don't blame FFG for your addiction.

  • @ElTsunamiDiablo
    @ElTsunamiDiablo Před 6 lety +5

    Numbers for small ships are a joke. Most people are going to own more than 2 x wings for a start. I have a relatively small collection and even then to use all my ships I need at least 4 conversion kits.

    • @FaustSketcher
      @FaustSketcher Před 6 lety +2

      Exactly. At that price, IMO they should include x4 of each fighter and x2 of each large ship. I'm gonna have to buy more than one kit just to have a 3rd ship for example. It's just cardboards seriously, why are they so stingy.

    • @torlumnitor8230
      @torlumnitor8230 Před 6 lety +3

      You may have 6 x-wings but how many will you realistically fly at once? Save your anger until we get points costs.

    • @StriderZessei
      @StriderZessei Před 6 lety +2

      Right, because you're going to fly literally everything you own at once.
      If you buy the conversion kit, and the new Core Set, you'll have more than enough stuff to fly four X-Wings.
      You probably can't unless it's four generics though; the demo version of Luke they showed with Proton Torps clocked in at 60 points out of 200. Three ace X-Wings will likely take a full 200 points.

    • @FaustSketcher
      @FaustSketcher Před 6 lety

      well on the rebels set, on most fighters you get 2. We will see the points but there were plenty of 3-4 fighter lists i flew.
      Look its fine if you are fine paying twice for a product. I just don't think its fairly priced specially here in Europe where it's more than 50$ a box if prices are as they tend to be.

    • @StriderZessei
      @StriderZessei Před 6 lety +2

      FaustSketcher you aren't paying twice for your product, though. If you spend nothing, you still have all the 1.0 stuff you've had for the last 6 years.
      If you want to upgrade, the cost is more than reasonable. It comes out to like, 1.35 USD per ship. I have no idea how FFG makes a profit off of that.
      If you feel that's unfair, I'm sorry. But FFG is a business, and this is still more fair than spending 150 on new codices like in Warhammer.

    Just buy another ship bam 💥 four new pilots! Then you said by have to buy two kits. Just a thought any ways.
    Also this is better then say magic the gathering that just makes you throw your old stuff away to keep relevant in tournaments.
    Edit: A word.

    The reveals from bell of lost souls show how much comes in those boxes. They contain a ton of stuff. Getting the core and the rebel conversion kit you ave enough to field 5 x wings. Stop over reacting to it all!

  • @ArneMandell
    @ArneMandell Před 6 lety

    Starting to realize that while conversion kits are offered, they aren't going to include all of the new meta-breaking pilots released with each reissue. Prepare to rebuy your favorite ships. It's +40 USD for v2 and +50 USD for a conversion kit to get a basic+ core set, using ships you already own!

    • @StriderZessei
      @StriderZessei Před 6 lety +1

      The conversion kits contain all the new stuff from the first wave expansions, and FFG said they're planning to relase upgrade-only expansions, so you don't have to buy more re-released versions of existing models. They're also making it so you don't have to buy expansions from factions you don't like to get upgrades you might want, (like the Starviper being the only way to get autothrusters in 1.0)

  • @SuperDbergman
    @SuperDbergman Před 6 lety

    it's too much, and they should keep the old and new good guys together (and old and new bad guys together)... it's 200$ to upgrade old + new good + bad guys!? That's too much $, and if you have multiple B-wings or whatever, then what?... another 50$ for the goods and 50$ for the bads... holy cow. I really like the new v2 ideas (mostly, except for no Imperial Boba), but this should be easier and cheaper.

  • @Nain1982
    @Nain1982 Před 6 lety +1

    this is crazy. I sold my collection and a week later they come out with this announcement. I'm kinda glad I sold it though. My collection was big enough to require more than one upgrade kit. I was already burned out by FFG consumer policies. I own too many games in which the core set gives me enough thrill and I don't have to buy every month or so to keep going back! Bye bye X-wing and bye bye FGG!

      Be glad they aren't making you buy every expansion all over.

    • @FaustSketcher
      @FaustSketcher Před 6 lety +1

      IMO these conversion boxes should be 35$ each or hhave x4 of each fighter and x2 of each large ship at 50$.
      For my games I'm gonna need two of these kits for 2 of my fleets, and mostly because on some lists i need that 3rd fighter that's not included. I can wait to get it maybe from ebay, but it just sucks this conversion kits are so expensive for what they offer.

    • @StriderZessei
      @StriderZessei Před 6 lety +1

      "35$ each or hhave x4 of each fighter and x2 of each large ship at 50$."

    • @FaustSketcher
      @FaustSketcher Před 6 lety +2

      To each their own. If these were complete sets I'd not mind paying the 50$, but for such incomplete sets, I'm gonna wait until they go cheaper at local stores.
