- I have now ridden in my Forma Terra Evo Low boots for more than 20,000 miles, so I can finally give a good long term review. Simply put, these riding boots have been great! They are comfortable, walkable, supportive and waterproof.

Great review Craig, thanks! I'm seriously thinking about getting these, for less aggressive offroad riding-forest roads & such, on my little TDub. I've got A-Stars & Gaerne's now, but they're a little over the top for the type of riding I do now.
I have the 1st version of the Forma Tera regular size (Evo is the 2nd gen)
Bought them about 7 years ago and wear them 5 days/week. They work great. A bit warm on long hot.115° trip but I guess any boots would feel that way. I use over the boot klim pant so even in hard rain not much of the boot is exposed and my feet always stayed dry everytime.
In the begining, my reason to go with Forma adv boot is because I have wide feet (4E) and they are one of the few that do that.
Glad that the Evo's are meeting your expectations - recommended them to you in the YT comments when you did the initial search and chuffed that you confirm my opinion of the kit.
I've been using the high ones for 2/3 years now in various circumstances and very happy with them. I suffered 3 breaks on my right lower leg (tib, fib and ankle) while wearing them BUT according to the orthopedic surgeon who fixed my leg, I would have lost the leg if it wasn't for the fact that I was wearing the Evos.
Leg got pulled in underneath the swingarm by long grass when coming to a stop on a muddy single track in the mountains. Like Mick Doohan says "it's the slow ones that will kill you". I know, I know - a 200+kg Tiger with a rider of limited off-road talent has no business riding single tracks in the mountain when it's pissing down with rain - my bad. My wife keeps telling me to act my age (61) but I don't know how cause I've never been this old 🙂
Crawled out from underneath the bike and dragged the leg clear - kept the boot on until I got to ER 4 hrs later courtesy of my riding brothers and the ER guys pulled the leg into position before removing the boot by (luckily) only cutting the inside water-proof lining. Have patched up the lining subsequently with a bit of fabric and with a liberal dose of Dubbin the boots are good as new.
Back on the bike after 10 months and 3 ops - still using a cane to get around (strap it to the bike with a Rockstrap) and still wearing the Evos 🙂
Takeaway of this long soppy story - it's not a question of "if", it is simply a question of "when" and when it happens I'm glad that I spent the money to buy the best protection I could afford. Been ridin 40+ years and this is my second major spill - in both instances the kit mitigated the damage and although I'm probably preaching to the converted, I cannot emphasise the importance of good kit enough.

Very similar story to mine, except I hit a dog and went down (had full gear but only ankle high boots on). Think my Harley fell on my leg but who knows (it skidded for miles down the road). Broke the fibula and massive amount of cartilage. After two ops, not being able to walk for six months and blood clot treatment and having a metal plate with six screws installed… I’ve finally bought another bike and am getting back out there. Some would say I’m insane and maybe I am lol. Do you have anxiety about doing the same leg again? I worry that if another crash happened on the same place I might lose the leg ☠️😬. Looking at this video because I want some tanks on my feet protecting me lol. HATE the look… but safety comes first this time. Thanks 🤙🏻

have the nagging doubts about damaging the leg again (despite all the bravado to the contrary when my wife or mates are listening) and as Murphy would have it, a mate of mine dropped his bike on me - I was sitting stationary on the bike minding my own business at the time - the infamous right leg again got trapped underneath both bikes but the Ego's saved the day with no apparent injury or damage.
During a check-up, the ortho was however surprised when the x-rays showed that the titanium pin now has a bend in it and both the lower screws were broken - I just played dumb and said I have no idea how that might have happened. Long story short, another op to remove the screws and a bone graft on the fibula.
Nearly back on the bike but now have to figure how to secure both crutches 😂

I almost pulled the trigger on a pair of Terra Evos. Tried a pair on at a local store and found my narrow feet and skinny ankles (like a teenage girl) wallow around inside, even when strapped down. Oh well. I wear 511 waterproof boots for cops and EMTs instead. They'll lace up tight and come in narrow.
I bought mine from atomic moto. They have them shipped from Forma which means you can have any size you want.

I am very pleased with my Forma boots (two years since purchase). I just rinse them in water and use a plastic dish-washing brush to clean mud and junk off them. I was able to find a shift lever that is 1 inch longer than stock and now I miss gears less frequently.
I purchased the Forma Adventure low 6 years ago,fantastic boot,waterproof and comfortable.Only con I have is they squeak like mad!!
They are fantastic, my first long pair Forma boots lasted 100,000km, now I have another long cut for my Off road riding and the short cut for my on road and BIG multi- day on/off road rides ( as you say to walk around on )

Nice review & good advice. It’s a year later and these boots are still in a league of their own, they are the only LOW boots offering decent foot and ankle protection and most tall boots don’t offer the foot & ankle protection these EVO’s provide. I compared them against the Tech 7 which have outstanding upper shin protection (if you need that) but the toebox, foot and ankle protection on the EVO’s outperform the Tech 7’s IMO. Plus the EVO’s are comfortable to walk in and provide great support for standing on the pegs. If you ride aggressive off-road and require shin protection with spiral and hyper flex protection then the Tech 7’s are a better choice but for non-jumping off-road and pavement touring, these Forma EVO Terra Lows are a great choice.
I have a pair also and like the wide toe box as a lot of Euro brands run narrow......
Love the shirt Craig. With the Tenere it was easy to move the shift lever, the Tiger was a little more difficult but did manage to get it done. Great boots, I bought them after your reccomend them and I have to say they are my goto boots now. I haven't cleaned mine either, where did you get the cleaner from?

They are fairly heavy boots and are easy to walk in and move on the bike.
I agree on all points ..including they are comfortable off the bike. My only issue . . . and this is me . . . was that I scrubbed the ankle buckle on the high side of my seat when I am dismounting my Road Glide. Upside. . H-D replaced my seat at the bike was within the first year. This year, I am retraining my mount and dismounting to high side!!
Ahh forgot about your seat. Another of our little misadventures. Watching your Mother Road post now. Bringing back memories.

Do you know if these have a steel shank?
And how is the toe/forefoot flex. I’m looking for something stiff due to an arthritic big toe joint.

Yes, then have a steel shank and are very stiff for riding and standing. They have a big, stuff box, that requires you modify your shift lever or technique. I wear a size 11 with a wide foot and the 45 fit me perfectly.
Just got a pair in the mail. I’m on the fence whether to return them or not. My first thought was damn they are heavy and stiff… but I have never had a riding boot in this class. I put them back on and think I would get used to them, but then discovered the straps were at their tightest, but I felt I still had more movement than I wanted above the ankle and would want them tighter, but can’t.
I have some time to make up my mind. I really wanted these to be the ones, but it’s hard to decide when I can’t try them out on my bike (as returns have to be in new condition).
Anyway, I recently discovered your channel and have been enjoying your videos. Have my sights set on the Tiger 1200 as my next bike (currently on a T120, that I love and will be keeping, but want the Tiger for touring and some light off road)… still deciding on GT or Rally, but leaning towards the latter (test ride… and if the Rally is too tall for me, will decide).
Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it. I know what you mean, the boots do have a little play at the top. I pull the Velcro closure as far as I can and just make the buckles comfortable. After these are broken in, I have found them very comfortable and supportive. But, we are all different and you need to find what works best for you.
@@LivingOffTheSlab Thanks, yeah, they fit well around my foot otherwise.... odd as it may sound, I am going to try the EVO X... yeah, heavier and more stiff, but I decided I want the shin protection. Although I will not be doing any hard core off roading I will be doing a bit (Mojave, my back yard, Death Valley... not in high summer :), and the CA coastal mountains).
Hard part is not being able to go in to a store and try them on. Have a Cycle Gear near by but they don't have what I'm interested in in stock. Will be ordering the Evo X and also want to try the Sidi Adv 2, both in brown (but I like the look of the Forma much more).
A quick update, I just got the Forma Evo Dry X and they do feel more snug over all. I think they are a keeper. My next dilemma is actually riding my T120 with such a stiff boot (compared to what I am used to) at least for now, till they are broken in, but again, they are intended more for when I get my Tiger, which is getting closer and closer by the day. Should be in house by labor day at the very latest (am ready now, but son coming for July visit, from DK, so taking my time).
I’m not retired yet, but am getting up there (at 58). I hope to get at least ten good years out of my Tiger and Bonnie, hopefully more 😊.
How easy are they to get on and off? I have to wrestle my my current touring boots and sometimes it makes me switch to my Keen hiking boots.
Pretty easy for me. Just slip my foot in and sinch a couple of buckles. Come off easy as well. Of course I am getting older and bending over is not as easy as it once was...
Is the toe box wide(r) as well as high? With my wide toes, I found out the hard way there are boots I can not wear.
I too have a wide foot and they fit me great. I generally will go up a half size unless they specifically have wide sizes. An 11 instead of a 10.5.

How about size fitment? I wear size 10R shoes (US), will that be the same when ordering these boots? How reliable is their sizing chart from your experience?
I were an 11US and got a 45EU. They are a little long, but the width is perfect, which is typical for EU sizing for me.
I own a pair and 44 is perfect for size 10. My daily wear boots are also in Euro sizes and I have always been fine with size 44. Even with thick hiking socks (Thorlos), the Forma boots are really comfortable. I don't even take them off right away, after a long ride!
Nice review...20k miles would last me 4-5 years so that would be a good investment for me. 🙂
I search information about this boot, because my "calfs?" are something to big for all the adventure boots :-( maybe this one could the way to go

I'm not doing off road but i commute with my Duke 100km a day, wear my boots 10hrs a day (very little walking just around the office) and i am looking for something with much protection, warm and comfortable enough to be worn all day.
I think these, the Adventure Lows or the ADV Tourer boots may be what i need but i worry about the difficulty in gear shifting, many days i like to ride fast and be silly for a while and if i cannot do it with these i will just stop using them (or i'll keep using them feeling miserable).
On the other hand, i feel that the "street riding" boots either don't offer as much protection or they're not comfortable enough for all day.
Any suggestions please? Is anyone using these for road riding?
These do have a fat toe box. I use the lip of the boot, where the sole is stitched to grab the shit lever.
@@LivingOffTheSlab Yeah, but can you get it all the time this way? Does it annoy you or you just get used to it and ride normally there on?
I got used to it, and get it every time. You could always adjust the shift level.
