Continuing my search for a protective and comfortable riding boot, I think I have found the elusive unicorn in the Forma Tera Evo Low boot.

Thank you for watching and ride safe! --Craig Ripley
I bought the Forma Evo Low boot (exact same one you decided upon) 3 years ago. I installed the steel toe add on that came with them using screws to install. Mine look brand new still. I took the custom cork insoles out of my alpine ski boots and use this custom fit insole in these boots for great comfort and protection for the riding I do. They were about $300 from I think revzilla. I treat them like my $1000 alpine ski boots which have lasted me about a decade ( I live in Breck, CO). I like these boots because I also bring my dog with me on my dr650 adventures and we will hike around a fair bit and these boots have a hinge at the ankle which allow for hiking & riding protection. Hope this is helpful. These are not made for motocross or heavy duty enduring. if I do that type of riding i will pair these boots with knee shin pads that overlap these boots for the added protection ( I leave the dog home as well for this type of riding). LOL.
My man!! Good to see you!!
Great video and thanks for sharing Craig. I will be trying the Forma Tera Evo for sizing in a few days, I think that will do it for me. Take good care.
Nice find!
Craig, great job on the review as always. You started your conversation about the report that rated safety of riding gear. I ride with an airbag jacket and my motorcycle has an airbag too for front impact protection. I believe this technology is the future for preventing serious injuries. All the Moto riders where them. Safe travels my friend.
I was going to go over the studies but did not want to keep the video focused on the boots. Maybe a topic for a future video. Airbags are becoming more popular and I am sure they will be found to prevent torso injury. I have not gone their yet, but maybe in the future.
Just started following you. You have motivated me to do more solo road trips now that I'm retired. Lol. Most of my riding buddies are not.
I picked up a pair of Sidi adventure 2 gore tex "mid boot". Which I really like. They are comfortable enough to walk up to see attractions such as Clingsman dome NC or Brasstown bald mtn GA. Both have paved walking trails but can get steep. Although I didn't buy the boots for off road riding because I do not go off road. I purchased them because they had gore tex for cooler riding in SC during winter months and makes me a lil taller. Easier to maneuver my 1000 XR around. I road the skyline drive and the length of the BRP in May with these boots and didn't hv a single issue to include some rain. 👍👌
Same boots I bought a year ago and most of last year … I like them
Awesome boot good choice
Nice! I'm eyeballing a pair of forma boots as well, but they look more like street boots. I hope these work for you
have been using the high version of these for 2 years now - both on/off road & on/off bike - very happy with performance and comfort
also saved an ankle when my foot got caught between a tree root and the swingarm on a stupid gnarly section - not even a bruise tks to that extra protection on both sides of the boot
Have you looked at the Alpinestars SMX Plus V2? Passes as a touring boot but has hinges for lateral ankle rigidity.
Hi Craig... I just bought the same boots... I have to readjust my Ducati Multi Strada shift lever as they are so thick....
Yes, you do need to adjust the shift lever.
Good Review! Now, could you please do a follow-up review 6 months later, after your Route 66 Tour on the K1600GTL. It would be interesting to know how did they work for you?
Sure I will add that to the queue. Short answer, they did great.
I purchased a pair in Australia a couple of months ago
Mine look very similar to yours, Forma, adventure low, drytex, made in Romania
They are very comfortable, but a fairly heavy boot for my 78 year old legs
Have had some trouble adjusting to the gear shift as you noted
Another issue I am having is sometimes when I go to put my left foot down to stop the heavy tread pattern underneath the boot grabs on to the peg which is a bit disconcerting
Safe travels on your trip.
They are on the heavier side, unfortunately that is the price you pay for the protection, I guess. For sure you need to be aware of the tread and make sure to lift your foot up before putting it down. I have to do the same thing with my ADV boots. So far I have only ridden once in them, but other than having to modify my shifting mechanics, I was OK. I felt very secure placing my foot down, which on some smoother soled boots I have not been. It is all give and take. We will see how they do on the trip. Ride safe!
@Murray Charters,
These boots are on the low side, even compared to alot of touring boots. How well do they perform at keeping your feet dry? Does much water get in through the top of the boot? That would be my main concern.
Apart from that, they look quite good for road riding and short walks near the car park.
You would have to be wearing very short pants for water to get in the top of these. My pants cover them very well.
@Max from Sydney1. I try not to ride if I know it is going to rain. We had a ride today and ran into a big storm. My riding pants cover the tops of the boots
Boots were dry when I got home
I got these in black, they’re pretty sweet. How do you adjust the length on the straps? I used a flat head screwdriver to shimmy it through the ratchet. Couldn’t find anything online on how to adjust them. I feel like theirs a trick to but i don’t know.
I just just my thumb to push down on the movable price of the strap. Push it in or out
Hi nice review . I have the same boots since this week . And it feeks like they dont shift sweet on my africa twin , any tips for this ?
Grtz
Two suggestions, one is adjust your shift lever. What I have been doing on my BMW, is shifting with the lip of the boot that comes off the sole. I just hook the side of lever with that lip and it shifts easily.
