John's compassion with every one of his callers is astounding. His ability to reach out to every single caller and make them feel like they're the only person that matters is such a blessing. Can't tell you how many times I've sat and listened to him reach out with love to every single person and get choked up. Every time. God bless you John Delony. Don't ever stop what you're doing. This hurting world needs you.

I’m a student who just started clinical psychology. My practicum site is at the VA and it’s honestly a nice prison. The way they treat our veterans is horrible. Not to mention… they are having students (me!) who know little to nothing about therapy TREAT veterans who are homeless, have addictions, PTSD, have been incarcerated, and have a whole bunch of other issues. INSANE!

People can change..... like picking your sox up off the family room floor, most times people will faulter and end up repeating ever bad behaviors until you get told you are slacking again. Imagine being with someone that the repeating slacking behavior is lieing and cheating.....🤔 people...... leave the relationship if the bad behaviors are not harmless.

To the guy who has a bad habit of lying to his wife: I have a similar trauma in my past and had developed a habit of...fudging the truth. Not lying but definitely not the full truth. I realized it was happening and I was able to correct it. Some might say I've over corrected though. At this point in my life, I don't really have very much off limits for the public knowledge. I don't talk details of my marriage's sex life, and I'm aware that talking toilet details are obviously unnecessary!
To my husband, I told him my tendencies, though it's not been a big issue. And if I realize I've been been lying, I immediately corrected myself. Which at first frequently happened in disagreements, because I wanted to "win". After learning I could trust him completely through time, I now have no problem saying everything to him! And it's not about winning anymore.
So you can do it, it completely doable, to give up concealing things.

I usually don't comment, but I really hope the last caller reads this. I am a mother with autism, ADHD, and a chronic condition that causes aches and pains. I'm aware that we like everyone are individuals and function differently, and need support in different ways. Some of us don't need support. But as a mother with autism I can tell you: just because we have a diagnosis, it doesn't mean we can't make decisions. It doesn't excuse our actions. We're individuals like everyone else. My heart breaks for you because I have a daughter myself and I pray to God that my daughter never feels the need to do for me what you did for your mother. I may have executive functioning issues, issues with depending on sponteneity to relate to people instead of my brain, or have sensory issues. But I choose to structure my life in such a way that my daughter is not responsible for my wellbeing. Quite the opposite, I am HER mother. She screams loudly? I use ear plugs when I get overwhelmed but hug her anyway. Social anxiety? I make plans to meet up with one friend with a child instead of many people at once. I've also "saved" my sister (who's also autist) from many a bad relationship also to come to the conclusion that she is an adult. She can make decisions on her own. Please don't let people tell you that their diagnosis, whatever it may be, excuses bad behavior. Because frankly: endangering your child and not putting her in first place, and being her mother in your best capacity, is exactly that. Negligent. I send you all the love. P.S. Dr. John you're amazing. Your books ans podcasts have started to turn my life around. Thank you!!! ❤

I almost died 4 months after my oldest son was born, a year and a half into our marriage, at 21 years old, due to a stroke from an AVM. Thankfully it was then a year of numerous invasive procedures and craniotomy’s followed by a few years of rehab. I will say about the friend with cancer, please ask. I certainly wouldn’t have been able to handle any jokes or goofy comments, especially during the first year of procedures when my future was entirely uncertain. It still bothers me 20 years later. Our mortality is a different experience for us all.

Michael sounds a bit like my ex. In our case, I was putting up with the porn, texting women, Instagram "models"and the multiple female friends that were too familiar with him (even thou he used to say there can't be friendship between opposite sex) I would say how I felt and most of the times he would just say "she's like that, can't help it" or "there's nothing I can do about that" or he would be more careful so that I wouldn't find out (receiving pics from other women). I put up with this because of our 2 boys (one with multiple disabilities), but I keep finding more n more of these activities from his part, and something broke in me. He said he was a good dad n a good husband, but I busted his bubble. Now we r just a broken home. 😢 Hope Michael n his family can pull it off.
