  • World Trade Center Responder EMT Marty N. and Survivor Stephen K. share their personal stories of September 11th in their 9/11 Tribute Museum presentation of We Were There on stage at the National September 11th Memorial Museum.
Marty was an EMT and contributed to the rescue effort on 9/11. He arrived at Ground Zero on the afternoon of 9/11 and was there for 4 days. His department specialized in hazardous material and confined space rescue, so he and his colleagues were assigned to attempt rescue and recoveries, as well as dig through debris. Marty’s story touches on the horrors he saw and experienced at Ground Zero, as well as the emotional and mental toll that it took on him in the years after.
Stephen worked on the 62nd floor of the North Tower for the Port Authority. On the morning of 9/11, after the plane struck, he cleared his office of 9 and they all made it safely down to the plaza. From there, he went to the Port Authority Headquarters, one floor beneath the plaza, where he got stuck when the South Tower collapsed. He made his second escape of the morning, and eventually found himself 6 blocks north of the WTC when the North Tower collapsed. He speaks of the loss of human life and his home away from home, as well as the incredible luck that he and his colleagues experienced that day.

@@woowah32 Because that's only human. I am an Indian. I was just 11 years old when that happened. It was our late night. And I used to sneak in television when everyone was asleep. And I happen to pass by the news and saw NDTV India was covering it live. It was an astonishing thing I ever saw on tv. And I saw people jumping off the building. I kept checking whether it was live or not. And it was. I won't forget what I saw. So before you judge you don't know how it affects people. And my own uncle and his family stayed in DC. I didn't knew it was NY. But all I kept thinking I need to inform my family. And I did. And then we called our family, and made sure they were ok.

Not sure why but the 911 memories have recently resurfaced. I saw everything evolve when it happened and I thought I healed, but it came back out of nowhere 😔 I feel so much sadness for those who did not make it alive 💔 but at the same time it makes me get up every single day and enjoy it like it's my last. I don't know when will be my time to go, just like those working that day, so I will enjoy the rest of my days in their memory like they should have 😭

I got the pages, too. The first page said that a plane flew into the WTC and I thought it was a new pilot who ran into something he or she couldn’t pull out of. With the second page, I knew better. I got into our lounge just in time to see the second tower collapse straight down. Then I learned about the Pennsylvania crash and got scared because my husband had been flying in that same area and I didn’t know what plane he was on. He finally called from Indianapolis later that day where they were forced to land and that he was leasing a car to drive home. But all day, I was scared. He had custody of his two young daughters and I was thinking about what would happen if he was gone.

I'm very interested and intruiged by the statement at 21:54 about the towers being designed to implode on themselves. Is there any source or material explaining how it was designed? This seems really interesting to study.

-Understand why they're not the best

@@CoxysHobbiesJESUSLOVESYOU The fact that i don't know about weither the tower were designed to collapse on themselves or not isn't a sufficient proof to claim that they weren't hit by plane and that the column soften to a point where the upper floor fell on the rest of the tower below, as it would require an enormous amount of new proofs that go together, which isn't the case as most claims that the towers weren't hit by planes are accumulation of diverse facts that are surely intriguing when shown in a 1h documentary.
I can't unfortunately advise you to check a serie of video about it as they're in french (my native language), but there are some debunking of 'Loose Change' that are as interesting as the actual movie in term of research but a bit more factual and rigorous.

It took me 19 years before I was finally able to tell my Dad that the chirping he heard, was not car alarms. He was taken aback.
I was aware of what the chirping noise was, as I used to watch the show Third Watch all the time, as well as having taken my Girl Guide unit to the fire hall around the corner for a visit/badge work. The firefighter showed us what the device was and when it works.
I wish I had no idea what the chirping sound was either, though. 💔

Its true about construction and engineering of some towers, that they are designed to collapse in certain way, be it as unlikely. The WTC engineers may not have had the events of 9/11 in mind but the possibility of any tower collapsing is always thought about. For eg. In the case of Taj Mahal built in the 17th century, the 4 outer minarets are slightly bent outwards so that if they ever collapsed, they will fall outwards and not on the main dome of the Taj Mahal. In this case the objective was opposite of the WTC design, but they did think about how the minarets would collapse even in the 17th century.

How many fire stations were taken out? If there are three trucks per station and 12 guys there would be 28 fire stations. But of course I am just making an uneducated guess because ea station is different depending on the number of locals in the area and probies assigned
