Kayaking the Brazos River Below PK Lake

- James Ferguson of XMTG Firearms Training Academy hits the Brazos River with some friends to remember brothers lost in the line of duty. The group is dropped off just below PK dam and kayak 23.4 miles in a little over a day and a half. There were a few fish caught and a lot of good memories made!

We just did this trip, one night trip behind PK. So fun, but very buggy early evening. I sure enjoyed seeing your video. God bless.
Enjoyed the video. Brought back great memories! In 1981 six coaches took the same trip, but stayed on the river 4 days. We loved it so much the same guys camped on the river every year until2012. We just got too old. We all miss it.

lovely wife of 36 yrs. and I decided to drop in our 18' canoe at hwy 21 bridge Brazos county 11;00. pulled out at hwy 60 bridge 5;30. Water was shallow to deep, good flow. Next time pack to spend the night, now we know how long it takes. Did not get to fish and they were jumping. We were very pleased with the trip and scenery , lovely wife wants to know why why more people don't do this or tube it!
Sounds like a great trip. We stayed on the river one night. We should of stayed 2 nights. Our total trip was 21 miles. That is too far for two days. We did not get to fish much either due to having to paddle all day to make it to the extraction point on time.

Is it possible to back a truck down ot the rivers edge at that launch point?

Who did you go through to ge get it planned? Looks like a good time would like to try it out as well.
We planned the trip ourselves. We used www.rochellescanoeandkayakrental.com/ as the shuttle service.
Where exactly do you launch your kayak?
We launched off of a FM road just below the dam. The shuttle comapny dropped us off.
What was the rivers cfs at that particular time?
I really do not know, I did not plan the trip, I just went along once it was planned out. It was definitely low, almost too low.
