Wow, I love the map. My outpost is just outside New Atlantis and even my Base is 3D. Even down to the cargo containers. I thought I would just have an icon on the map.
Alright. Now to adjust game play settings.
I'm not installing the beta just yet since I'm on an Elden Ring binge right now but I can't agree with you more ... this looks like a whole new game! Love your setting choices.

Also have to agree about the hate this game gets being unwarranted. I joined a lot of community pages as I’m sure you have and since it’s release, I’ve never seen such hate for a game that is in my humble opinion every bit as addictive and immersive as Skyrim and fallout 4. So much replay ability
Hundred percent. It's fine if you don't like something but to jump on a hate train is stupid.
I love this game. Doesn't mean I think it's perfect, but it's one of my favorites.

"Extreme" is a game changer. I would call it a new game but having the prior knowledge helps in the long run (like where to find resources, best outposts, favorite weapons, etc.). Paying attention to health, drink, food is a new dimension. Currently an Xbox voyeur. Counting the days to the update. Commander Slack rules!

I havent been watching you as much since Starfield has lost my interest, but I do pop in from time to time to watch these challenge runs because you've always been good at making BGS rpgs entertaining, and that intro was amazing

Something I noticed starting a new playthrough is that VASCO is channeling his inner Codsworth. Named my character Sam and now VASCO calls her "Captain Sam". I hate followers too but I keep him on the ship for the extra power. I haven't tried it yet but the return of "Major Badass" may be viable in Starfield. Got into the Fallout tv show and wanted to see what the game was like so I watched your Fallout series recently. 👍

I will probably leave both player/ship damage on normal. I like deadlier enemies, but I don't want to empty two mags to kill a fly. I think it was like that in Fallout 4 survival and I enjoyed it that way.
My friends call me weird for always turning off music in games, glad I'm not the only one
i turn my music off for certain games I actually really like all the music in the game but I get it
@@TheMaLiK5966 There are definitely some really nice sounding music in some games but I think it's also got something to do with getting sick of hearing the same thing over and over, I also like to feel immersed in combat and music takes that away :p (for me at least)
There is one more explody thing you didn't get. From your location at 29:00 go straight ,between the big orange pillar and the white hab module. There you will see a yellow cylinder.
If the pirates would leave the ship a little quicker you might get them with that trap (reminds me of the Bioshock barrel setups)
Slack, you say you don’t like music in video games, but surely you like when Far Horizons starts playing when you’re immersed in Skyrim 😁

The first playthrough when I was really roleplaying and not worried about building a character or anything was the best. Especially the early game when I was truly weak to everyone and I was just scrounging for ammo.

Extreme difficulty settings usually make enemies bullet sponges. Buy as much ammo you can find! You will need them.

I used to like this game, I used to, and still do.
The main change I wanted to make was to minimize ship combat damage on both sides so that there would be a reason to consider lasers and ballistics over particle beams. Boosting vendor credits would be nice too.

Getting bored running all over Far Harbor. Might be time to head back out into the starfield.
The only thing if anything I think you should be able to have two different saves so you can try different things without losing all your progress if you start again.

Affliction treatment set to higher levels means your cures only make the condition better not cured. You can go to a doctor at one of the medical centres though to be cured still which makes them useful.

While I appreciate this patch a lot. There is still a massive amount of heart missing from this game. I'm sure it will be patched even further to be great eventually but it was flatter than fallout 64 on release.
Man I started a new game with not fleas survival mode setting all amped up. Dude the environmental damage is insane. I even have a mod that gives me a environmental seal and still hardly helps. I think I'm gonna have to invest in some perks that prevent me from matching ailments and infections. It's totally making me play completely different I love it. Just wish I could help with the environmental stuff.
Did the patch fix Transfer Containers?
I remember the launch of skyrim a totaly bugy mess, starfield did it better, hope it keeps improving with more patches and content.
The new patch really has changed the game. amazing what some good small changes can do for a whole game overall :)
@MajorSlackAttack after making your character, before going out to meet beret. inside that starter area there are 2 boxes you can open with loot . i have found a legendary pistol. Random spawn?
An incredibly lucky random spawn. BTW, I looted those containers.

Also, for the explosive barrels, if you hold R and let go, you throw the object. I just throw the big explosive container into the ship and blow it up with them all inside. On easy difficulty it's a one-shot kill for all of them.
I remapped all my keys so referring to 'R' doesn't help. What does 'R' do in your config? Or what does 'R' do by default?

Okay, just tried it. A little underwhelming... It's more of a light toss than a throw. And yes, I held down the Reload button before releasing. Well, thanks anyway... 😎
Reminds me slightly of the overhaul of Diablo3; the game was patched to the point where the original game no longer exists.
Why not take the boost back from the elevator room on vectera when you grabbed the zero wire? It's easily accessible between the cage bars. (Granted more use when taking bounty hunter background)

Not anymore. That's behind a master-locked door. They patched those exploits out a couple patches ago.
@@MajorSlackAttack they patched the Mark 1 suit, not the Vectera cage. I just did it yesterday.
I just tried it an hour ago and couldn't get it and even got stuck trying to get it. You'll see in episode 8. And besides, it IS behind a master-locked cage. If it's not patched out now, they will eventually patch it out.
@@MajorSlackAttack fair. I take it as exploring vectera before leaving is a pita without one getting over a few of the hills. Gathering 100 aluminum is hard enough ( to prep for outpost on kreet)

Screw the negativity. I just started a new playthrough and I am having so much fun with this game. people will hate on ANYTHING and its sad
I started playing Starfield on the day of its release. I liked the game, but after a couple dozen hours I stopped because of all the game/quest breaking bugs I encountered. I patiently waited until this new big update, started a new game, and now I'm a couple of hundred hours in and loving it again. I think a lot of people just jump on the hate bandwagon, but I'm happy to say I enjoy Starfield a lot--and the update is a big reason.

Surely they who attack unmercifullisly Starfield are the same people who once attacked No Man´s Sky. And look at that game now.
The new settings options for Starfield remind me a lot of the settings improvements that NMS made last year. I don't toy with them much in NMS because it feels cheat-y, but the XP gain differential here makes me feel less like I'm cheating and more like I'm adjusting. It's nice.
You know, a lot of the people who bash Starfield remind me of the people who go on and on about how to, say, play D&D "right." They've never actually played it - they just watched a bunch of video rants about it and are cruising on that sweet sweet bandwagon. I can usually tell a legitimate gripe from an uniformed rant. Slack, on the other hand, learns any game he plays inside out. I truly appreciate that.

Since I have a brain I’m gonna set ship combat to normal since it’s not balanced with gun combat, and separating it is one of the best changes they’ve made, and I’m gonna set damage taken to extreme, and damage I do to probably normal or easy to simulate more realistic damage so we all die in a few hits. And of course set everything to extreme with +75% x while making frames lol.
I won't lie. I haven't played Starfield in months now and played to NG+10. The game just wasn't really playable to me anymore. Constant crashes (on Xbox), eliminating all the glitches that let you efficiently get credits, it was just painful. These changes intrigue me enough to give it another go. Thanks, Slack. I await this walkthrough with great interest!

Cybertrash fanboys can't stand that there far cry wannabe was rushed out for Christmas money and is known as the biggest failure of this decade
Also has one of the greatest gaming comebacks probably ever. Haven't played either, but from what I've seen, cyberpunk blows this out of the water
