- Commonly known as a #SwedishTorch, this simple outdoor cooking technique not only provides you the heat you need to cook, but it also comes with a flat top to place your skillet on.
I’ve made a delicious steak & egg using only one log and it was such a great time. As it’s still burning we’ll have plenty of time to use it after-dinner to grill some marshmallows.
Now let’s sit on tree stumps, eat this delicious steak & eggs, and enjoy the warmth and comfort of this beautiful Swedish torch. - Zábava

I didn't know what he was doing but my dad was cooking some of our first catch. We were catfishing with trotlines and we're racking them up because it was fixing to storm and we got back to shore he had fried up a couple of catfish that had never seen a refrigerator and we're salted cornmeal and fried somehow, we just ate like no tomorrow.

You can still do this even if you don't have any type of saw. Take your axe and split the log, as evenly as possible into 4-6 pieces. Then dig a hole, depending on the soil you might have to line it with rocks. Then reassemble your log in the hole with small gaps, just like in the video. Place the kindling in the gaps and then pack the bottom dirt tight around the reformed log. If you don't even have an ax, you can dig two holes about a foot apart (hole one is a vertical shaft, hole two is angled towards hole one and they should connect at the bottom creating one tube). Hole one is your cooking whole and that gets stuffed with whatever wood and kindling you can gather. Hole two provides airflow to hole one. Then create a starburst pattern of fairly uniform sticks around hole one, these sticks will raise your pan off the surface of hole one just enough to allow air flow out. Once you get your fire lit in hole one, it will suck air down hole two, through the fire and out between the starburst of sticks. This type of fire can get very hot and eats up a lot of wood, so have extra (at least three times more than you think you'll need) at hand before you start it.
Exactly, thank for sharing the knowledge my friend

What is the benefit, or is there one? Or is it literally just an interesting cooking method
@@jnaur6849 More compact than a campfire. Top surface is an even cut which makes it easier for cooking. You can place several of these around you for heat distribution. It works well with freshly cut wood because of the chimney-effect, and they last for quite a long time.
So this can really be done?!!!
