    I've had my MLED 2.0 Bi-LED's in my 5th gen 4runner for almost 2 years now and they've been rock solid through all weather and temperatures(including a -29 degree day last year). The difference between OEM and these were huge. Glad to see the technology is getting even better. Thanks for your reviews as you helped me decide to buy from you when it was time.

    I have the IV Plus in my Daily and it's little brother (2.5") in my hunting truck. Will be putting them in my Silverado soon too. Nothing bad to say about them at all. I had considered the MLED for all of them but the higher price with less performance made it a no brainer for me.

      @@LightwerkzGlobal Look, I hate to be this blunt and rude about it. But your reviews like this, are missing a lot of important detail. I've always cringed about our american reviews of projectors but I'll say this today.
      Take a look at a channel called "Test Lab". I don't know if it's polish or ukrainian or russian but it will teach you how to actually test the light output of these projectors. Just measuring the hotspot lux is just useless.
      Please learn about optics & "photometric light points".

      @@therealb888 Your comment is not taken as being rude at all. Measuring peak intensity certainly does not tell us the whole story but it gives us a little more insight than a simple video product overview. Please take our reviews as you wish, and do not compare any figures you see here against other people testing the products as conditions are different.

    • @therealb888
      @therealb888 Před 2 lety

      @@LightwerkzGlobal I didn't expect such a quick & professional response. But I respect it. I used to be regular on your channel about 3-4yrs ago & I must say you have stayed consistent 👍.
      All I'm saying is, you go into excellent detail the construction & quality of the product. You can do the same with testing it's performance. The insight gained isn't enough if all you're testing is the hotspot. The part where you show the change in intensity as you go down is a great addition though.
      The main reason people buy these are for the performance upgrade over stock headlights.
      There are standardized testing methods as per DOT & ECE specs. I know enough to not compare the tested figures as the "conditions are different", my point is if you use standard testing norms, these "different conditions" won't be an excuse. I do know why you haven't done such testing yet, but I don't want to bring that up.

      @@therealb888 Thank you for continuing to follow the channel through the years. You can see the video's are still pretty "basic" - it's just me and my phone, doing "one take" videos (hope to step my game up soon). They are completely unscripted and it's literally me just speaking my mind on a subject. I do believe that is one of the main reasons why Lightwerkz has the unique following we do. The information is truthful, useful, informative, and most importantly unbiased without all the extra marketing fluff. We don't care what the manufacturers state in the product specs; we simply want to see it perform.
      You mention looking into photometric testing, but this is something manufacturers will do. We are testing for our own knowledge but also for our small pool of viewers. It is not meant to be a super scientific test in any way. This has been criticized by lighting nerds over the years. Thats OK though. We do not have any of our own product lines so devoting our limited resources to further testing is pushing it. For majority of people, a quick run down of the products features and showing a video comparison is enough. The peak intensity readings should be considered a bonus but as we all know, it does not tell the whole story. We sell many products so we are constantly collecting feedback. As "basic" as it sounds, I can look at a product, turn it on, and give you a very thorough opinion on how this product will perform in the real world. I know its not as scientific as some would like, but its enough for the majority of the viewers. It is easy enough to add on some further testing points. Just keep in mind controlling the variables is extremely difficult without a proper lab.

    You seem to time videos perfectly with when I am trying to compare stuff haha. I love the color flicker and high beam performance of the NHK, just wish it had the slope cutoff of the MLED. Having driven both with a step and slope, I definitely find the slope to be a little more appealing in the real world since the steps tend to have a much larger height difference between left and right side of the cutoff. Either way though they are solid projectors and my friend who has experience with both is definitely impressed with their performance

    After driving with both of these, I really think it comes down to a bit of color preference. Both are incredibly bright. The MLED 2.0 is much more oem like in its color appearance and the distribution is great. Although the high beam alone wasn’t my favorite. So I paired it with the hbled high beam only projector fro Morimoto and it made it about the same brightness to my eyes as the NHK BILED IV plus that are in my Corolla with no other high beam but the ones in the biLED projector itself. The NHK has a much more pronounced, thicker colorful cutoff. The MLED still has good color and appear to change from the 5000k light color to purple and blue at the cutoff. The NHK gives a much more noticeable purple red blue white switch when going up and down over crests/hills. I personally really love colorful cutoffs, especially when they are as sharp as these projectors both have. However I do like the slightly bluer color of the NHK PROJECTORS. I do think they both are about tied for performance other than high beams. NHK wins that one.

      I’ve driven a car with both retrofitted and the real difference is that the MLED looks nearly exactly like oem driving. Same color as most oems and they are brighter than oem at that, by quite a margin. The NHK is a bit wider, and has a bit more brightness, hardly noticeable going from one to the other. The difference is in rain I noticed. The NHK do seem a bit less geared toward inclement weather conditions. They’re both great. The MLED with the threaded shaft and oem light shape, color and distribution is attractive to a lot of people. The NHK is just for people who really love seeing their blue/purple cutoff on everything around at night. And enjoy an extremely bright hotspot highbeam. Personally the highbeam is really great for high speed driving on the NHK but if you just want to see well and widely with the highbeam I’d still pair the NHK with the Morimoto hb led High beam projector. That would give you a nice wide but tall hotspot for the highbeam and atill allow you to have that amazing high speed hotspot but with better all around highbeam performance. I actually love the color of both. But it’s a bit more obvious that the NHK are aftermarket from looking from the outside. Simply due to the slightly more blue hue.

      My sentiments exactly! I had the MLEDs mounted in my car and their performance with width was frankly, terrible to the point where I was actually having difficulty seeing at night because after you get past the hotspot the output drops off kinda dramatically. @@Oockeshoek I actually had the 2.0s and when I would compare with my Mini 6.0s from 2013, the width was actually worse. The only dominating factor with the MLEDs is the hotspot, but it's so intense that once you get past it, the intensity drops off greatly, at least in my experience. The Minis, while a little less bright, more evenly distributed the light on the road which to me is more important because you don't get any dark spots between the projectors like I was getting with the MLEDs. I probably got duds, and I even had them replaced with the warranty. Even though the replacements were improved, they still couldn't match up to my current D2S 5.0s, which are also disappointing and I regret not having bought the G5Rs which would have given me more flexibility with bulb color temperature with their clear lenses. But if you enjoy the MLEDs, I'm happy for you! My experience unfortunately wasn't a positive one.

    Nice video, this is one I've been waiting for for a while now. Thank you for mentioning the change in the AR coated lens on the M-LED now that it clearly displays a blue/purple color instead of the weaker gold color. I knew something was up because I have the old ones but have seen the new ones around and thought mine were broken. I wish I had the purple/blue coating, but oh well. The output from the M-LED is wonky on the wall and the intensity doesn't really seem to make sense from a hotspot, but driving around it works great. Plus, I have secondary highbeams to make up for the lack of highbeam on the M-LED, I just didn't want an obvious low beam cutoff showing when I use the high beams. Works great. The color of the M-LED is already incredibly blue in my opinion (above 6000k) so I'm very surprised that the NHK is even bluer, so thank you for making that clear. I wish there was a 5000k option or even 5500k. But so far I'll stick with the M-LED despite the NHK showing some impressive results here. Thanks!

    Just a small update about my MLED 2.0 retrofit into my Pontiac G6 headlights, the NHK IV Plus would not have fit, I barely have enough room between the frame of the car and the back of the MLED 2.0.... I finally managed to figure out how to seal up the rear of the housing using pcv pipe ends and jb weld. Sadly despite my best efforts, I did have to cut off part of the MLED... the top section where the threaded mounting shaft goes on was cut off. Hopefully all goes well. It won’t be a factor for everyone but the size of the unit matters. I spoke to Caesar about the NHK but it wouldn’t fit in my headlight setup. While most probably won’t run into this issue it is a factor. The mled can just fit into much smaller spaces. Anyway, like all things, tech evolves and the companies will leap frog one another. You can’t lose either way. Very happy with my mled 2.0 and it’s a massive step up from oem hid. Also I don’t miss the high beam advantage in the nhk since I had a separate high beam to begin with. Is the fan supposed to be outside the housing to provide proper cooling or is it supposed to be inside the housing and just recirculate hot air around? If you can mount the fan outside to keep it cool, it doesn't appear there is any way to to seal the back of the projector, there are holes and vents everywhere. How exactly do you mount these in shallower housings?

    Man, if that NHK had an option for AR coating, I'd probably consider ditching my 55w setup. And I actually prefer the step cutoff. If you adjust your lights properly, your drivers side projector will have that step down for the opposing traffic and the step up lines up right on license plates of cars in front of you. Nobody gets retinal damage and you get to see everything. Not sure why people care for the slope.

    • @aaronmyers4951
      @aaronmyers4951 Před 2 lety +2

      The slope was for street signs back when the slope was more dramatic. Nowadays they design them without consideration for usability.
      Eg. Most reviewers stupidly use a wall inside at a short distance that is nothing like how they will be used.
      Instead, reviewers should show them outside, on a real road with street signs at a distance where you might be looking for a street to turn onto... Those short steps don't light up street signs on the right side of the road like they are supposed to. It's become a brightness war with a loss of proper lighting pattern.
      I wouldn't buy either of the 2 reviewed here.
      Thankfully there are good LED projector bulbs in H4 or H7, and housings that work very well with them.
      I have a Morimoto set I almost installed, but the pattern is flat like a pancake compared to the H7 projector bulbs in my Sorento or Jeep or Forester. I have video up on YT showing the Forester set, properly on the street driving at night.
      The NHK pattern height looks decent, but the step is too small for sure.

      @@Eric2300jeep yeah, I am more concerned with light falloff... How much light makes it to 200 feet out? Colder color temperature bulbs tend to light up reflectors more, but also piss off oncoming traffic more than a softer color temperature light. I do prefer as close to neutral white as possible, personally.
      Blue light works well on white concrete highways in the rain, but it useless on dark or fresh blacktop in the rain...
      Not a fan of light too yellow, as that makes it hard to see light colored deer or dogs on the side of a road through grasslands.
      Pure white seems to handle all scenarios quite well, with the best perceived CRI.
      Not a fan of large blue cutoff lines from oncoming traffic, so I don't wish them on anyone else either.
      I keep watching all these comparisons different people do so I can stay on top of tech, as I have a minimum of one new project car per year, and they get the most reasonable upgrades available vs. their potential resale value.

    "Assuming" NHK LED has a same lens like G5 HID and therefore has the same beam pattern strong central hotspot whereas the MLED has the same lens like the D2S 5.0 and therefore has more distributed light everywhere. I have both the G5BRT on my car and D2S 5.0 in my partners car and I like the D2S 5.0 more due to more light everywhere instead of center hotspot but I like the step cutoff of the G5 but we can't have everything can we? Look closely at these projectors. The MLED is actually larger than the NHK, but the main difference, other than the performance, is the ease of installation. Of course for a retrofit expert, they're always gonna choose performance over convenience, but convenience is strong, especially with the MLED. Problem is in my personal experience, I would never recommend the MLED unless you were upgrading from so God-awful Toyota halogen projectors which are more like fireflies in jam jars than actual working headlights, and even then I'd try to steer that person towards traditional HIDs, of course only because of my personal negative experience. Many are blown away by the MLEDs, and I'm ecstatic for each and every person who has the MLEDs and loves them, but my experience was seriously flawed.
    Back to my original point, if you were to remove the fan assembly from the NHKs, then you'd honestly have a smaller projector that would seat further back in a reflector setup. Of course, after you made the appropriate modifications with the Dremel and used a good amount of JB Weld to hold it in place. I believe that both of these projectors will fit in smaller assemblies, but then of course you have to deal with the shrouds too.
    Cesar, please, do an outside width comparison to put any other doubts to rest. You'd be doing humankind a HUGE solid!
